Watching the trailer again, i'm pretty sure "Drop" is what causes the switch between Sora and Riku. Riku is fighting shadows right when he sees multiple Soras and then Sora comes down and is now fighting the shadows. And the word "Drop" was seen during this.

So I am assuming this means that in the game, we might have to switch between Sora and Riku to progress through the game?

Hmm. Maybe Sora and Riku have different abilities and interaction with the enviroment, thus Sora may not access it, but Riku can. And vice~versa.

I don't... seeing it clearly answers some questions I had and raises a few more. The bell tower is DEFINITELY Notre Dame. Now that I can see it clearly, you can even make out the stage on the left of the screen as Sora is jumping down to the street. Also, I couldn't see where the Ansem SoD/Xemnas appearance was happening TT. Now I can see it's the fountain... the same location as the TT keyhole hmmmm....
