If you bought it non-working you may be able to exchange it for another disc. Depends where and when you bought it.

If you want to get the scraches of just go to a game store that has one of thoses machines to do that ex. Hastings,GameExcahnge,and there some othere independant stores that usually have them.(NO gamestop)

Its only like $2 or $3.

Yeah, I think getting a new Copy is the best choice. Its only like $10 if you look in the right places.

try Turtle Wax, if the scrach isn't bad enough.
Steps
1. Put a little Turtle Wax on the disc
2. rub the turtle wax, with your finger, around the bottom of the disk
3. Take tissue and make sure ALL of the turtle wax is gone, rub all around the disk,even if ther're a speck of dust, it's important becuase it might mess up ur system up.
4. try the disk out.

Yes this happens to me too.Now when I want to hear the opening I have to go on my computer.

Disc repairs are a big no-no,
even the game stores that sell them don't recommend it.

just buy a new copy, life will be easier.

Just go to wherever you bought it exchange it and get a new copy. If you keep trying to play it, it will eventually screw up your PS2. Hopefully that helped you.;P
