y'know, it's kinda funny. Aqua was in the realm of darkness for ten years, and the first time she met up with Mickey, she was completely shocked that it had been that long, claiming that it didn't even feel close to that long of a time period. Then the second time Mickey met up with her about a year later, she's suddenly pulling this "YOU LEFT ME HERE FOR SO LONG" act, when it had to have only felt like a week or two since the last time she saw him. Was she stupid, or just an asshole?

and don't give me any of that "maybe time started flowing differently" shit. i can see you little nerds from a mile away! even if that's true, that's so stupid for it to change for drama's sake

I mean, she had fallen to Darkness and wasn't really acting like herself.

The Unknown fight in KH1FM. He probably had no idea what was going on but does that event mean Beast met Xemnas? Don't know why but that thought is really weird to me. The Xehanorts usually don't interact with Disney partners.

I wonder if Ariel lost the ability to cast Final Fantasy spells when she turned human

I’ve been thinking about how divisive the KH3 finale is, so I thought it’d be an interesting experiment for me to fix it’s more egregious faults while still keeping as much of the framework as possible.
Spoiler Spoiler Show

I’m not sure how much this fixes, but I hope it makes at least a few people on this site happy.

but why does Sora sacrifice himself if Kairi didn’t die?

If Kairi came to Destiny Islands from Radiant Garden, what happened to her parents?
I think it was implied that she was adopted by The Mayor of Destiny Islands in a KH1 flashback with Sora and Riku in The Secret place, and her biological Parents are most likely dead, probably killed by Xehanort or Melecent.

What if Chernabog was the final boss of the first game, like he was intended to be? Would we still get stuff like Organization XIII and the Keyblade War?

Maleficent killed them, Xehanort wasn't the one who led the siege of Radiant Garden, Maleficent did. Amazing how it's been so many years since the first game and we STILL don't have a concrete glimpse of that day.

Remember that Another Side, Another story was a concept trailer according to Nomura and represented his ideas for a sequel. It wasn't supposed to be anything more than that, after all it was a crapshoot if the first game was going to sell well to begin with. It's entirely possible that in another universe, what you propose did happen and it goes one of three ways:

A: Chernabog is the final boss, and the ending drastically changes. Because Ansem is likely erased from the game's timeline, events surrounding the heartless creation are left unanswered but we still get the scene of SDG chasing pluto, as that was made early in development.

B: Chernabog is the final boss, and everything largely stays the same in terms of organization 13. Again, it's hard to say because Nobodies and Heartless are meant to be two halves of a person, and Xemnas can't exist without Ansem also forming.

C: Chernabog is the final boss, and the games don't sell well enough for a sequel. This forum probably doesn't exist and it's popularity is on par with F-Zero, which has still yet to see a new game to this day.

The whole story changes the whole story of the series. After all, if he's the final boss, that means there must split related reason why. My guess is that Chernabog would've been revealed as the creator/king of the heartless instead. After all, they take after him visually.

In the broad sense, Ansem marked the precise moment KH ceased to be a Disney RPG and became more focused on original characters. If that didn't happen, then I surmise the rest of the series would've stayed Disney focused.

Maybe there's still an Org13 but they're the nobodies of Disney villains sans Roxas with Maleficent's nobody as the leader. Past that, all bets are off. It'd be pointless to try and guess what the equivalent to BBS or UX would be like, there simply wouldn't be any such games. The series would be utterly unrecognizable to the one we got.

I've long said VCast was like a small peek into an alt timeline where the series stayed like the 1st game and what it'd look like.

Actually, I wanted to maybe start a “What If?” discussion thread. Does this forum already have such a thread?

That rings a bell. Maybe from some really old thread. But mods don’t like necro posting so let’s just talk about it here I guess. Or you could make a new one, whatever you want.

What if… Riku remained worthy of the Keyblade? Yozora is apparently a champion of champions; he’s what Riku would have been if he never fell. But wouldn’t this eventually lead to destruction? I believe Riku, Donald, and Goofy could handle the events of KH1 just fine. But wouldn’t CoM be a lot different? And I think Xemnas is too powerful. Is KH2 where this alt timeline takes a dark turn? It took both Sora and Riku to defeat Zebra Xemnas; Sora needed to fall backwards into being an adventurer to gain the needed strength. So, if Riku didn’t fall, maybe in a weird way, this assures Xemnas’ victory. Even if Riku squeaks out a victory against Xemnas, I guess he’s eventually doomed to die by the hands of Anti-Aqua or is unable to break reality like Sora did after the Heartless tornado. What do you think happens if Riku never loses his Keyblade?

What if… Aqua reluctantly decided not to save Terra? After a fierce struggle Aqua defeats Terranort and he begins to sink away into darkness. But Aqua is worried about him still being dangerous, and while she’ll hate herself for it, she lets him sink away and watches the portal close. Ansem the Wise shows up investigating the noise, but he finds an exhausted and emotionally distraught Aqua instead of Terranort. Ansem would be curious about her, but adoption probably wouldn’t happen. I guess after some rest she’d eventually leave to go tell Yensid and Mickey the bad news. The timeline is now so shaken up, it’s hard to imagine it. Under normal circumstances, I think Terranort would be just fine in the Realm of Darkness, but would he die or turn into a monster if he fell into the RoD while unconscious? Would he open a portal of darkness, come back to the Realm of Light, and start a new scheme that doesn’t include being adopted by Ansem the Wise? Would Aqua eventually try searching the Realm of Darkness for Terra, but due to having her armor and personal Keyblade, she doesn’t become stranded for years? Would Aqua find a way to awaken Ventus? Would Aqua honor Terra’s choice in marking Riku and give him Keyblade training? What about Radiant Garden? Would Aqua keep in contact with Ansem the Wise after meeting him? Would she visit with Kairi? Things might be potentially peaceful here without several Xehanorts causing carnage. Aqua would eventually have a final showdown with Maleficent, but maybe not much else until the Lost Masters decide to do… something. What do you think happens if Aqua lets Terranort fall?
