Chapter 2: Traverse Town Mayhem
The ship landed in the town square of Traverse Town. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, people were walking around and the stores were opened to the public. But there was no sign of the King…
“Sora, where exactly were you when you wound up here?” Riku asked.
“In the alleyway by the Accessory Shop. Wait, you think he’s there?” Sora asked.
“It’s a possibility. In his letter he did write ‘Go to the place where Sora’s journey began.’ Maybe he wanted to meet you in the specific place where you woke up,” Riku explained.
The three of them walked into the alley where Sora first woke up behind the crates to find it vacant.
“Or not…” Sora murmured.
He thought for a moment and started to walk out of the alleyway around the first district. The King was still no where to be found.
“Let’s go check around the other two districts,” Kairi said as she looked at the town map.
Riku opened the door that led into the second district and looked around. Still there was no sign of the King.
“Where do you think he’d be, Sora?” Riku asked.
Sora walked up next to Riku and looked around. “Hmm…let’s check the hotel rooms and then the Gizmo Shop.”
After twenty minutes of searching, Sora and the others found nothing.
“There’s got to be some other place!” Kairi said.
Sora jumped down to the fountain below and started to run towards a white house in the corner. “Guys! Over here!”
Riku and Kairi ran after him and Sora walked into the house. As soon as they walked in, choruses of barks rang through their ears and a bunch of white dogs jumped everywhere. Two adult dogs walked towards them and greeted them.
“These are the Dalmatians I saved on my last journey,” Sora said. He saw one particular puppy with a piece of paper in his mouth with the King’s symbol on it…
“Hey! Look!”
Sora held out his hand to the puppy and she let Sora take the letter. He opened it up hastily and read:
Dear Sora, Riku, and Kairi,
So sorry about another letter I leave you, but the town was close to being attacked; I had to leave. I am now currently going to another world where I shall reside until your arrival. Here is another clue to where I am; only you, Sora, will know where I am: DTD.
King Mickey
“DTD?” Kairi said.
“Door to Darkness…” Sora said. “He’s in Radiant Garden! In Ansem the Wise’s lab! It’s where I found out what DTD meant.”
“Well then, we should go right away,” Riku said.
The three of them ran through the districts and started up the ship, leaving Traverse Town. A little while after they left, some weird ship started to tail the gummi ship.
“Who is that?” Kairi asked as she glanced out the window.
“Never saw that ship before…” Sora said.
With that, the ship behind them sent a missal at the gummi ship, hitting them on one of their wings.
“Hey! What’s that about?” Riku yelled.
“Riku get us out of here!” Kairi screamed.
Riku put the ship into high gear and started to blast away from the unknown ship, but it kept following them.
“This guy won’t shake loose!” Sora said.
“Then we’ll just have to fight back,” Riku said as he turned the ship around and faced it. He started blasting it with everything he could and caused some damage, but the other ship would not fall. It attacked back and caused massive damage to the gummi ship.
“Not good! We’re taking too much damage! We gotta land now!” Riku said.
Sora quickly looked out the window and saw a world coming up below them. “Go there!”
Just as he said that, the ship behind them attacked with one final blow, and the ship started to fall out of the sky…
“Hang on!”
The world below them grew larger before their eyes…trees started to scrape the windows…the ground was inches away…

“Over here!”
“Guys, come quickly!”
Distant, unfamiliar voices came from beyond the trees. Sora was starting to wake up, his vision blurred. He couldn’t concentrate well…
He realized he was out of the gummi ship, lying on the grass on his back. The sky above him was hidden through the trees, and the sun was peeking through. Darkness started to creep up to him, and he felt his limp body being moved. He slowly turned his head and saw Riku and Kairi who were still lying on the ground, not moving…
And then he saw nothing…
That read like it hurt!
