No, the ideal Kairi is a standalone, independent-of-the-trio female. Our Kairi is an empty plot device while our Aqua is a standalone* character wifh desires hopes and dreams of her own and the ability to action them out.

*I know our Aqua's very identity is intertwined and tied to Terra and Ven but, she has personal failings of her own that lead to plot happenings aside from MERELY EXISTING.

Kairi would benefit from a potential Xehanort saga adaptation. You can fix her problems via hindsight and make her journey more memorable.

Even when I was a bigger fan of KH's story, Kairi just came across as an afterthought. So I felt like everyone's hopes for her in 3 were too unrealistic.

She could benefit from a 13-2 style game with her and Sora as the focus but they are the weakest characters in the cast so I don't know if it would work out. Granted Serah improved as a character when she started hanging out with Noel, so maybe Kairi just needs some new friends?

Let’s not get our hopes up! We’ve been burned way too many times! Buuuut...

I surmise the next couple of games will be like this. The first one stars Riku along with a playable Yozora and/or Sora. The other game would be about Kairi and the others trying to protecting the Realm of Light from some MoM keikaku.

About Kairi’s training... something will go wrong with it. Just like how DDD didn’t happen the way Yen Sid wanted it to go. The Kingdom Hearts universe is ever chaotic and things rarely work out in a peaceful and organized manner. I have no clue what exactly will happen, I’m just certain it will have some deadly snag and that it’ll be more complicated thn Kairi hitting punching bags at Land of Departure. And while Kairi’s training would be an important part of the game I think it’s a safe bet that Ven’s past life will catch up with him and the remaining Guardians of Light will have a ton of trouble dealing with that craziness but Kairi finishes her training arc to help with the grand final.

What is more likely to happen

One game is about Sora, Riku and Yozora on the other side along with MoM which helps us learn more about the other side, Yozora and Nameless Star's circumstances, Magia and Aegis, the problems going on that side, it's connection to the ancient Keyblade Masters, how Yozora ties into all this along with Sora and Riku, etc etc. Leads to Sora getting saved from his predicament at the end. Then the game after that will be KH4 with Sora's return and we getting the typical Sora, Donald and Goofy trio again as they deal with their usual adventure stuff as they and the guardians have to deal with the Lost Masters and whatever ancient keyblade lore nonsense they shove into this. Could also have stuff from the other side involved in it too because why not.
