Premise said:
James Bond's loyalty to M is challenged over secrets from her past. When MI6 is attacked, it falls to Bond to seek out and eliminate the threat regardless of the cost to himself.

Directed by Sam Mendes
Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming's James Bond 007
Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva
Ralph Fiennes as Mallory
Berenice Marhole as Severine
Naomie Harris as Eve
Albert Finney as Kincade

Ben Whishaw as Q

And no, that cast list isn't lie. It really is that strong. o.o

INORITE?! 8D This is shaping up to be one of, if not the greatest Bond films ever.

I have to be honest. It looks good, but not "wowgottaseeimmediately" good. Though it could've been (probably was) the lag I experienced. :/
Still going to watch it. And pretty sure I'm going to end up loving it.

Can we use this thread for Bond in general? Because I just started to rewatch the entire series (and I do mean just, pressing play now)
First up is Dr. No

Yeah, rather confident it was most likely the lag. The trailer (when viewed properly) is gorgeous. They have Roger Deakins as the cinematographer for this film~ :D

Sure, I don't see why not! :) Still, for now, the main focus of the thread is on Skyfall personally. But yeah, other Bond flicks are open for discussion too! ^_^

Love Dr. No, but I prefer FRWL personally. :) Have fun with Dr. No though! :D

I'll watch the trailer again on a different computer tomorrow.

FRWL is for tomorrow. :p Haven't seen a lot of these films in years. Your thread pretty much reminded me that I was planning to watch them all in order (even the unofficial ones) and should finally get to it.

Awesome! It's a great trailer! :)

I've watched just about every Bond movie ever made at least once, including the unofficial ones, save for Moonraker and A View To A Kill. Tried watching both several times and couldn't pull through for either one (I literally feel nauseous whenever I try to watch AVTAK). I honestly preferred that comedic version of Casino Royale more than either one of those two. >.>

Did you ever read any of the Bond novels? :D

The unofficial ones are the only ones I haven't seen at least once, though we have them lying around here. It's going to take a while to get through all of them though, I'm foreseeing an average of 3-4 movies a week. :/ (if only life didn't get in the way)

I tried once, but I was about 8 years old. Didn't go well. (Especially not since a lot of things sound more boring in my language, prefer english)
Can't remember which one it was, though I'd definitely give them another try if I happen to come across them.

I've watched Never Say Never Again several times, and the comedy!CR once, personally. NSNA wasn't bad, but it was far from being great. Personal favorite Bond flicks are (in no particular order) FRWL, Casino Royale (Daniel Craig's version obviously), Thunderball and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Had the Sean Connery of the early 60s played Bond in OHMSS, I'm rather confident that would be the all-time best Bond film.

Yeah, I'd recommend reading it in English (though I've never tried it in other languages); Fleming was a fantastic author. :) I'd pick up the Blofeld Trilogy personally.

I wouldn't really know which movies are my favorites. (it's a problem I commonly have with lots of series, I usually find at least something to like in everything, preventing me from deciding) Though I have to say, when it comes to actors, Brosnan is usually the first face that springs to mind. Not because I think he's better, just because I grew up in the 90s (and his are the only ones I've seen in theatre)

No need to recommend. When I start a series, I finish a series. Whether I've liked it so far or not. :)

I'm gonna go ahead and change the thread title to fit all of the Bond films.

I've honestly only seen a handful of them, but earlier today I was talking to a friend about marathoning the entirety of the Bond films over the summer since his dad owns all of them. I'm pretty excited for that, especially given the great composition of the shots in the trailer.

^ Well, don't expect the other Bond movies to share Skyfall's wonderful shots. Part of what makes me so excited for Skyfall is the massive production crew/casting upgrade. Sam Mendes was selected to direct, and he brought some of his 'friends' along to replace some of the usual folks involved in Bond films.

That said, you'll definitely have a lot of fun with the Bond marathon!

You evil, evil man!

Enjoyed Dr. No yesterday. I'm actually a bit surprised about how well it withstood time. (by which I mean, I almost never started thinking "if he has <enter modern day gadget>, this movie'd be over in a second". Aside from cell phones obviously.) There are still some faults of course, but none really glaring. I laughed how they used the theme song for practically everything.

Time for From Russia with Love.

Yeah, I absolutely love Dr. No. Terrific film, but as said before, I for one prefer FRWL. Both are better than Goldfinger though IMO.

Yeah I've only seen a few of the really old Bond movies and that was years ago. I remember the cinematography being alright but nothing spectacular. Which is disappointing, because ever since I started taking film classes, I've really been looking out for cinematography.

Likewise. But I'm hopeful that the producers keep Sam Mendes and his talented lot of camera-men and soundtrack composers on board for the next few Bond flicks. If you do some investigations through various interviews with Mendes and Daniel Craig over the past couple of years, you can tell they both spent a LOT of time planning and working out the fine details on this movie, so I'm very hopeful personally. :3

From Russia with love was definetely better than Dr. No. Had fun. Cat fight was unnecessary but whatever: CAT FIGHT :3
So now I'm watching Goldfinger and OMG did Q ever look young? I completely forgot how pretty much the only difference between this and his last appearance is more white hair and walking bent over. :/

Oh Oddjob. Your hat is probably simultaneously the silliest and coolest weapon ever.

It's been a little while since I last read the novel, but I recall the cat fight being there in the book too.

Yeah, it's crazy. That man was in more Bond films than anyone, and he barely aged at all visually the entire time. It's going to be interesting to see a younger man play Q in Skyfall, but I could see this change having potential. :)

Christopher Lee's Golden Gun would like to have a word, please~ ;)
