theres a lot of problems with the ages but thats because ff and kh have nothing to do with each other so leon never knows sora in his universe

They're not exactly the same as they were in final fantasy games, they're just the "KH version", if you will, of those characters. Like Tidus and Wakka and Selphie are really young, too.

In the October '02 issue of OPM, Nomura specifies and I quote

"...since the Final Fantasy characters are more like guests who make cameo appearances, I made minor changes so the Final Fantasy fans could enjoy a slightly differant version of each of the characters."

He also says, in response to bringing back Aerith, that there is no relationship between the Final Fantasy stories or the Kingdom Hearts story and he considers them seperate stories.
