(I guess this is the right spot to express my concerns)

A certain member who shall remain nameless is
treating me like some kind of fool just because
I have different views on a certain subject.

Multiple times I have expressed my respect
for his/her views even though I have stated
that I don't necessarily agree with them.
When we discuss subjects, this member
begins to directly insult me. I'm ashamed
to admit but sometimes I insult this member
back, but I never am the one to begin with
with these insults. This member uses his/her
power as a high ranking member to give me
a negative reputation whenever this member
feels like it. This member also speaks about
me insultingly on other threads that I do not
often participate in. On these threads I have
been referred as an idiot a few times.

I'm not an overly sensitive one. Though the poor
treatment I have received from this ill-mannered
member is detestable, this member's opinion of
me I consider with very little value. However this
member has encouraged others to resent me,
and that I will not stand for. Surely this forum
must have some standard for how their members
are expected to behave. Can any action be enforced
to put an end to this escalating opposition? Can
anyone offer me advice to peacefully end this dispute
with this member, or is reasoning with this stubborn
individual a lost cause?

Please offer me assistance.

(Sorry for being vague in my complaints about this
member, but unlike some people, I have a sense of
decency when it comes proper means of discussing
an individual without directly and publically offending
them. I am not here to slur the name of this member,
despite my practically nonexistent remaining respect
for this individual. I'm simply here to inquire a way to
put a stop to this issue once and for all.)

Note: A while ago a sent a message to this member
apologizing for any offense I might have caused and
I also praising this individual's intelligence, despite
commenting on his/her closed-mindedness. I asked
for peace in that message but received no response,
and recently it has become apparent that my request
to end the hostility has been refused. So please tell
me if there is anymore I can do, or if I should just
give up trying to reach this member with reason.

(And don't try to guess this individual's username either,
if you think you know whom I am referring to, please
refrain from stating who it is. Despite my little respect
for this member, I still respect this individual enough to
not carelessly identify this member at risk of unecessarily
smearing their reputation)

I know who you are talking about. And from what I have seen, the member in question always express the way they feel about your posts in a non-abusive way. I have not seen a conversation between the two of you that has escalated into a real heated argument. You share different opinions, and if you feel you have been negarepped unjustly, contact a mod then dont wait until you feel like you need to pile up evidence in order to get the member banned. There are people that will disagree with you, thats just how the world is, sad but true. But the fact of the matter is that if you think you will start arguing with this member and you think that it is getting out of hand, talk to a mod at that point, dont wait it out.

PS: wrong section btw

The advice is much appreciated.
I don't wish to get this member in
any trouble. I don't even mind if
I'm stuck with my negative reps
(I'll earn it back). What I seek is
peace between this member and
me so that we could debate without
them turning into arguements.

I learned long ago how to open my
mind to the a wide range of possibilities
long ago. Despite opposite views, I am
able to respect this member's views,
even though one time I got angry and
criticized them. (anything can be criticized,
even logical ideas) I was just hoping to
earn that same understanding from
that individual as well. This member
is a debater, who converses to prove
a point. Not that anything is seriously
wrong with passionately defending and
supporting a point, but my ideal concept
of a debate in which both participants
calmly express ideas, try to understand
each others', and then see what they can
learn from them, seems incompatible
with this member's ideal concept of a debate.

I guess I will truly then avoid any form
of debate with this member, which is
sad cause I was sure there was so much
I could have learned from this individual.

Ah well, thanks for the advice again.

Really? Wrong Section... Sorry about that.

I think this is a case of you taking this a little too seriously. I know of who you are referring to, as I can see plainly tell through looking at your post history. I didn't bother to read every post but I delved in a few and the debate seemed just that, a sound "debate". While your form of debate is highly appreciated and the form of debate I often choose, the other member's does not appear to live up to your standards and there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone is different in the ways they express their views and opinions, some more harsh and some easier than others.

If you feel that you are seriously and undoubtedly being treated unfairly in regards to neg-rep, insults and harassment then please come to a moderator such as myself and we will handle the situation. Your actions impress me since not many would actually go out of their way to ask an opinion on this matter, instead most openly retaliating against the member in question. I suggest you brush off this incident and go back to posting sound theories and "debating" and brush off the minor insults and jabs, members are famous for that here and it's not going to stop anytime soon. Just go about your business and you'll eventually find people with similar viewpoints and ways of debating such as yourself. If you do experience anything that you feel is inappropriate, please contact me or any of the other staff and we'll help you out in whatever way we can. Thanks for your question and I hope I provided a satisfactory answer.

*Gonna move this to Site Feedback and Support as it's better suited there"

Eh. Another solution could be to simply add this member to your ignore list via the User CP.

I am impressed. I don't know anyone who would have handled this as maturely as this, kudos to you. My advice is,whenever you see that this member has contradicted him/hersel, flip the script on them and make then look just a bit foolish. If you keep doing this then they willl back off.

I completely agree with that, and sometimes it's hard to find people who aren't just debating for the feeling of being right and superior than someone else.

My advice is to ignore this person, because if they're bad-mouthing you in other threads and such, you'd only be giving them satisfaction with themselves by continuing.

There are lots of different parts of the forum, so don't feel like you're confined to just debate and theorizing. Besides, you'll find a lot of other, sometimes better people to talk to, if you explore the other sections. Future of Kingdom Hearts and whatever is kinda infamous for people who argue and negarep a lot, lol.

Hope this helps.

It's KHI, what do you expect. Just kidding guys, but a tad serious.

It IS the internet, you're going to run into people like that, and others that you may not have ANY respect for.

Way to be rude about this and not just send a message to a mod. You are so immature. If you want to solve the problem just shank him and make sure it counts.

I think we can all figure out who you're talking about, though I give you kudos for not telling the name. While you shouldn't have made a thread about this, it's good that you're trying to resolve this issue.

I don't believe ignoring the person is going to work, because that seems just as immature as blacklisting them, or fighting with the back. I have to admit that I've never seen anything between the two of you that is, shall I say, heated, beyond what normally occurs during a debate on this site. Perhaps you're overly sensitive, and this person is a strong individual who believes strongly in his/her theories. That doesn't mean that either of you are doing something wrong, and if you don't like the way he/she treats you on this site, then the best thing to do is take it up with her directly. Apologizing in a PM isn't going to do it. Just straight out tell that you'd rather not get into the arguments that you do.

Quick side question: Why do all of your posts have those cut off lines?
