Ansem (Diz) did experiments on Xenahort and it gave him amnesia. When he awoke, Ansem was gone and he found Ansems research. He just assumed that he was Ansem himself

well, actually....Xehanort is a castaway who lost his memories and Ansem found him.....Xehanort agreed to become his test subject in hopes to recover his memories but the experiment did not give him what he desires, instead the power of darkness

Okie, right now, this is a bit messed up for me. So Diz is Ansem (A good guy?) and Xenahort is a fake Ansem who is a bad guy?! Blah!!!! This confusin.
