So I had an idea for an original RP. Let me explain it in a few parts.
Part I: How it Began
This part would be presented primarily via a series of journal logs by a Dr. Sinclair, 60 years old. At the time of the first journal log, his wife Rebecca has just died. He vows, futilely in everyone else's mind, to bring her back. He begins an intriguing project to bring back the dead that get's some funding. At the time of the second journal, he is making good progress: The body is in working order, but the mind doesn't yet function. He refers to the project as REBECCA. By the third journal everyone else is convinced he's mad, and his funding is cut. He's forced to work on the project, alone. By the fourth, very short journal, he knows it's gone wrong. Rebecca escaped with incredible powers: Destroying buildings, killing people instantly, before disappearing, never to be seen again. He vows to make it right, and hasn't been heard from since.
The final part of the How it Began would be presented via OoC explanation. After REBECCA's escape, an infection has begun to spread through the world. It doesn't kill, or destroy the mind, it's different. Those infected gain great powers unique to them, and access to a combination hive-mind/consciousness net they refer to as .0 or Point-Zero. This allows them to instantly communicate with each other. Their minds are still fully functioning, but it does come at a cost: Absolute obedience to their leader, who is currently unknown. Their goals are unknown, but they can't be good: All they've done is cause chaos. Dr. Sinclair is considered a pariah for unleashing REBECCA, who destroyed most of the structure of the nation in incredibly short time, as well as the Infection.
A corporation known as Savior arose and began producing a miracle drug: Not only did it prevent you from being infected while you had it in your system, but it gave you powers comparable to those an Infected might have. The only downside was the addiction: If you ever stopped taking the drug, you would die. It needs to be taken once every two days, minimum, and after the first day it's effects weaken. Luckily the drug, known as DVL (An acronym for some chemical, long since forgotten by most of humanity), was plentiful. The motives of the Savior corporation are yet unknown, but they are generally regarded as trustworthy by the people.
Part 2: The Setting
The setting is modern, in a fictional city in the USA called Caffeine. Since REBECCA's attack, the government of the place was quickly crushed and there is no word of how the rest of the world fared. Small governments, comparable to old tribes, formed in it's place. Luckily Savior provides DVL to all tribes indiscriminately. The primary tribes are Raven, the scavengers, Rifle, the hunters, Cutlass, the slavers, Cross, the believers and Concrete, a group formed of deserters from Cutlass and Raven with hopes of just surviving. Besides these are the infected, who are loyal only to their leader.
Part 3: The Story
The story will begin with day to day conflict. All the tribes are enemies of each other except for Cutlass and Cross, who have a nonagression pact each side is just waiting to break, and the infected are always a threat. At this point new events start occurring that lead our heroes to investigate the ultimate goals of the Infected, who the leader is, and other dark secrets, with the ultimate lure of a way to restore the world to the way it was before.
