Nowhere in particular.
Honestly i am not too high on this, and i have always disliked any kind of Infraction systems, but i guess the issue of spamming and crap was getting out of hand, so i cant argue that it is necessary to prevent any more annoyance from newcomers trying to play the Inferno. SO i guess, its a good idea.

What happens to the infraction points if you get banned for getting too much? Do they still remain until they expire even though you are banned?

And good to see that a spam control is finally here XD

so you're asking would the points expire while you are still goign through your ban?

yes and even if by expiring the amount is less than thirty your ban will last because you at least at one point achieved the necessary amount of points to warrant an autoban

It also gives you a better chance to reform yourself before getting the boot, whereas before it's possible we'd have just banned you much quicker.

Infraction systems remind me of how some people perceive socialism.

I love the infraction system, but as I've seen it in action in larger, official forums (oh my gosh DO NOT REMIND ME ABOUT NSIDER OR SMASHBOARDS forums), it never really works out well in practice, because it ends up being too sensitive (maybe it's just gaming forums, but for example you post your thoughts on a game, and if it's against the majority opinion, you'll often get infracted for "trolling" -_-)

I'm anxious to see how it works out, and cautiously optimistic.

Making derogatory remarks toward other members, harassing them, or otherwise making their stay here one that is abusive and unfun instead of welcoming and enjoyable is considered flaming. Harassment via reputation comments and thread tags will also not be tolerated.

During your first couple of offenses, a message (reply to your post, private message visitor message, etc.) and/or negative rep will be used to warn you, but if the problem persists, bans will be dished out. Each offense will have a longer ban period, eventually leading up to a permanent ban.

Hahaha I remember using the FAQ to try to shield myself from flaming whenever I would get it in lethal doses a couple of years ago, and staff and members just lol'd.
Didn't work.
