<An OmniChaos and Orion Roleplay>

Join us in our unison; join us in our utopia.

The year is 2047, and thirty-five years have passed since the collapse of the American government. In 2012, the public outrage against Innocence of Muslims in the middle eastern nations boiled over and the terrorist organization al-Qaeda rallied the protestors behind them. The terrorist organization launch an attack against U.S. cargo ships, staged as an attack from Iran, and begin a war between NATO and the Arabic nations. Meanwhile, the tensions over the Senkaku islands conflict lead to all-out war between China and Japan.

As NATO declares war on the middle eastern nations, trouble begins brewing within America's borders. A silver-tongued man, whose words tickled the ears of those that heard them, began gathering a following and led a revolution against America's government. To combat this threat, the government was forced to withdraw the troops from the middle east, leaving a large hole in NATO's remaining forces.

The man and his army marched from the city of Las Vegas, a spearhead held high over head, and marched toward the capital. His army, heavily equipped from raided military bases, met with the U.S. forces, but, with tactics that bordered on foresight, the man led his army from win to win, eventually breaking through the U.S. forces. The army reached Washington D.C. and, after mowing the capital down, the man brought the country to its knees before him.

Meanwhile, without America's forces among their ranks, NATO found the conflict against the Arabic nations a war of attrition, and while they largely subdued the terrorists, the NATO forces were forced to withdraw, no longer able to fund the war. Israel and Iran collapse at the war's end, leaving the contries to be divided among their neighbors. The European nations involved in the conflict found their coffers tapped, and as a result, many governments became unable to sustain themselves and collapsed, unleashing chaos and anarchy across Europe.

And now, at the thirty-fifth anniversary of these events, the world is a drastically changed place. China's war with Japan led to China's victory, which has now claimed the nation as its own, but only after suffering heavy losses and damages to the once-country. The use of nucular weapons in the middle east has left more than seventy-five percent of the lands uninhabitable. Most European nations have dissolved into lawless lands, easy prey for the reformed Soviet Union, which, thanks to an unearthing of a giant diamond mine, gained the economic ability to strong-arm the surrounding nations into compliance.

As for America, after the government collapsed under the mysterious man and his army, a company, known simply as Inc., rose from the ashes to fill the void. The company rewrote the country's laws, transforming it into a place where politically-correct is upheld as absolute. None are allowed to discriminate or to express opinions that discriminate. Inc. has released technology and re-ordered society so that every person is satisfied and engaged, so much so that it eliminates any and all free time to develope independent and intelligent thoughts. America's citizens are, however unknowingly, prisoners to Inc.'s forced engagements, so that they would not meddle with the company's affairs.

<About>

A young man, known simply as "the Prisoner", was recently captured by Inc. and taken to New York City, where, at the prison tower, he has been subject to intense brainwashing. Though he has held strong, the Prisoner can only hold off the mental attacks for so long. The young man, or so rumor tells, is said to hold the power to destroy Inc. and free the people from their rule, and because of such, Inc. fears the Prisoner and wants to keep him under thumb.

Recently, coinciding with the Prisoner's capture, you have found yourself freed from the ties that kept your mind bound in constant engagement. You know the society you see isn't right--isn't normal--but all interaction with other citizens finds yourself the one that isn't normal. You hear rumors of other "strange individuals" who call their society unnatural and set out to seek them, hoping to discover the truth about what's going on.

<Buddy System>

This roleplay includes a concept called the "Buddy System", in which two roleplayers agree to be "buddies". These roleplayers, discussing it prior to, agree to a mutual power-play of each other's characters, but only in the case of one's inactivity/inability to post. This is to prevent stalls in the roleplay and allow everyone to continue the story at important areas.

Be sure to discuss with your "buddy" what to and not to do with your character.

<Rules>

1. No god-modding or power-playing (outside the Buddy System).
2. Romance is allowed within forum standards.
3. This is a survival roleplay and will be mature in nature.
4. The roleplay will be fluid.
5. Orion or I reserve the right to refuse or remove anyone from the roleplay.

Name: Bernard 'Bern' Smith

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Role: Technology expert, tool-builder

Equipment:

Usually carries several basic tools formed of carved or malformed plastics, ceramics, etc. Some function as screwdrivers, others as hammers, sometimes knives.

Skills:

Having immersed himself in technology all his life, whatever hardware and software systems he doesn't already understand masterfully he can usually understand rapidly, provided unrestricted access.

He is exceptionally dextrous, and has a mind that is at the same time very technical and imaginative. Given some basic tools he can usually fashion a tool out of anything.

Appearance:

For all the big ideas he has in his head that would cause waves in modern western society, Bern is a somewhat diminutive man of 5'7". He has a ragged mess of short black hair that is thinning at the top, and bland brown eyes in his sockets that look perpetually lightly bruised - a result of far too frequent sleep deprivation. Skinny and pale, he always looks somewhat unkempt in spite of his best efforts, and usually dresses in jeans and shirts of muted colours.

Personality:

Intensely lonely and conflicted. He's come to hate the fact that he got left out of the social system that so many other people seem to fit so well and happily into. At the same time, he despises what Inc.'s system has done to practically everyone around him - reducing them all to nearly homogenous human beings. He wishes desperately there was some way he could leave the country for freer spaces, where one could even live impoverished if only it meant freedom of mind amongst similarly free people.

In his day and age, Bern holds a lot of opinions others might find controversial: He's a race realist, rejects outright those whose gender identity doesn't match their sex, thinks the sexual 'alphabet soup' has become a joke, and wishes for a return to more traditional times when men could be men and not have to always be checking their privilege or keeping an eye out on any personal pre-crime tendencies that might lead to a woman declaring rape or sexual harassment for a simple proposition.

Biography:

Bern grew up as part of the iGeneration - an entire twenty-year swathe of people born at just the right time to have maximum exposure to interactive technologies and all their beneficial and harmful effects. On an individual level, Bern benefited immensely from the technologies - he self-taught much of what he ever learned faster than he would ever have had it delivered in a public school, and higher quality than in a for-profit one. Unfortunately, his engrossment did not stem to the social media aspects of the ever-expanding web.

Seeing social networks and blogging services as little more than incremental extensions of real-world interactions, Bern cared little for them and thus managed to inadvertently fall between the cracks of the most important aspects of Inc.'s system of societal re-engineering. Bern's engrossment with news-, education- and entertainment-based services meant he half-fell out of the more natural aspects of social interaction, essentially limiting them to only what could not be avoided: spare time at school or work with other students and employees.
