We have another musical coming to movie screens from the mind of Hamilton. In fact, it's his first musical! In the Heights is coming to cinemas in June 2021. Originally planned for June 2020, the movie has been pushed back a year due to the pandemic.

In the Heights, based on the musical of the same name, follows the life of a tight-knit largely Latino community living in the Washington Heights in New York amidst a summer heatwave.

Both Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes are returning to produce the film, directed by Jon M. Chu(Crazy Rich Asians), with Hudes also writing the screenplay and Miranda composing music alongside Alex Lacamoire and Bill Sherman.

Among the cast, we have Anthony Ramos as Usnavi, Leslie Grace as Nina, Corey Hawkins as Benny, Gregory Diaz IV as Sonny, and returning from the musical, Olga Merediz as Abuela Claudia and Miranda now playing Mr Piragüero, the Piragua Guy.

Seen the musical or listened to the soundtrack? Looking forward to the movie? Discuss it here

The film comes out in cinemas and HBO Max tomorrow in America, and Warner Bros have uploaded the first 8 minutes on YouTube, for those interested.
Those in the UK and Ireland will be able to see it in theatres next week
