I need clarification, has it been confirmed that X Back Cover and 0.2 A Fragmentary Passage are using the same engine? Cause I really want to see another environment render from 0.2 and compare it to this image of Daybreak Town.

Yeah, Back Cover, 0.2 and KH3 are all using the same engine.

KINGDOM HEARTS's Back Cover, 0.2 and III are all running on Unreal Engine 4, utilizing Square Enix's Kingdom Shader.

If by environment render, you mean the glimpse we got of the Realm of Darkness, I'm almost dead certain that's a 2D background with some After Effects added for depth and effect, not a fully rendered space. The shots of Yen Sid's tower were all real though.

Yeah. There's no way that was a rendered environment.

Except we're lead to believe that scene happened during KH2. And given how BBS v2 has been reduced to 0.2.... Idk.

No it isn't?

I could see it going either way at this point. Twilight Town could easily appear, or it could easily be cut lol. It may go the way of Traverse Town and the HB castle (in comparison to KH2).

I have been wondering if other things in the Birth by Sleep Volume 2 video may still be somewhat addressed in KH3, a lot of it seemed like they could just be flashbacks. Depending on what exactly happens though. But yeah, you are right, they have only showed that one area over and over haha. And its one they just spruced up from KH2.

That image is....so much more pleasing to look at than the obnoxious orange of Twilight Town. As for whether it will be playable or not...I don't know. Daybreak town is a sleeping world, right(because of Chirithy)?
Sleeping World ? Because of Chirithy ? Can you explain me ? :)

The theory goes like "Chirithy is a Dream Eater. Dream Eaters exist in the Realm of Sleep. Therefore, Chi takes place in the Realm of Sleep, and Daybreak Town is a Sleeping World."

Mind that this hasn't been officially confirmed or denied yet.

Bingo Bango. Hit the nail on the head.

Epic Games should use Back Cover as an example of the world building that can be done in their engine. It's just a movie so using it to showcase the environments you can all make in that engine would be a nice for them.

I'm not Epic Games, that's why I said they "should" use it lol. They did use KH3 in their Sizzle video

Yeah, Back Cover, 0.2 and KH3 are all using the same engine.

Hmmm, I got told that Kingdom Hearts III Unreal Engine is much more refined and definitive than Back Cover's and 0.2. As long as Back Cover and 0.2 are using the same engine then I'm satisfied (for consistency purposes). I cannot wait to see the character renders!

I'm not sure why anyone would've told you that. 0.2 is literally cut content from KH3 lol

I mean, KH3 is obviously going to have more development time than BC and 0.2 so in that way it may look better or whatever, but it's definitely the same engine being used for all three.

It's kind of funny they used footage from the Luminous Engine in that tho lol

That's actually good to know. Square Enix should really over-emphasise the fact that it's cut content from Kingdom Hearts III in order to attract casual fans to the title. The last thing we need is for this to under-perform because it's seen as another HD remaster collection.

Going back to actual Daybreak Town, areas I'm really looking forward to see in 3D (and possibly explore when it really gets an appearance outside of Back Cover) are these:

Seriously, this place looks so gorgeous it can certainly be described as scenery porn, they even have a little lighthouse in the background.
It's like a mixture of BBS-era Radiant Garden, Twilight Town, Mysterious Tower (mainly because of the sky), undestroyed Isengard from LotR (all the trees forming an avenue along the streets) and Theed, the capital of the planet Naboo from Star Wars.

The sky is what makes these scenes, it's so expressionistic, hopefully Back Cover will catch some of this magic.

Generally speaking I think KHX is one of the best looking Kingdom Hearts games out there

Couldn't agree more, the storybook asthetic has a really pleasant Disney and Chibi mix to an otherwise dark and cryptic tale.

After rewatching chi's intro when I downloaded Unchained, Kairi's grandma said that when the children restored the world, it was the one they were living in. Could she be referring to Radiant Garden? If so, then is RG a restored form of Daybreak Town? Points in favor is that there are some similarities between both worlds. But honestly, worlds themed around light could only have a limited amount of uniqueness, meaning it's obvious that both DT and RG are similar: they have the same theme around them.

Points against this thought is that perhaps the inhabitants of RG don't know the existence of other worlds besides theirs and only think their world was restored.

Just a thought.
