Okay, guys, if we could not get into an argument about which religion is the "right" one, I'd be grateful. That would actually put me off this consideration.

Sorry, Miss Sol. :C

Anyway, I think it's perfectly reasonable to believe in God as something other than our creator. Again, I don't believe there is any one notion that you or anybody should feel forced to subscribe. We're all spiritual in our own way.

I'm not really sure what to tell you about God or faith, because those kinds of decisions have always "come to me," I've never really searched or asked anyone else for information I didn't personally have intuitively.

I don't want to dedicate my whole life to him and swear by his word because I still uphold my 'scientific' beliefs, but I would like a relationship with God wherein I am happy and content but not dependant.

Thoughts?
something in this reminds me of scientology hmmm

:p

It was a question  touchy people. Sorry.

Of course you can, but why can't God BE the Big Bang Theory anyway?

Because I simply don't believe that. I'm comfortable enough within myself to be confident that the universe came into existence by itself. While I'm not saying that the idea of God being the spark of the universe's existence is something every Christian needs, I don't want to believe in that theory so I can sleep better at night.

So you're considering the Christian God? Because if so then you'll have to acknowledge that He's the one who created heaven and earth.

Genesis 1:1 said:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Before everyone attempts to convert her to whatever faith, it all comes down to some rather simple things:

1) We cannot dictate what you believe in, but if it has a positive influence then go for it
2) While I cannot agree with your interesting stance, everyone is entitled to believe in what they want
3) It's really just up to you, do what makes you happy
4) *cough* become a muslim * cough*

:/ So, basically, if I don't believe God is the creator, I can't have a relationship with him?

Christian God, pretty much. It'd be contradicting to say you want a relationship with Him and then not believe in His word.

So I'm guessing Christianity is what your shooting for?
Might want to look up Islam though

Why not believe in your own personal god? It can be male, female or genderless. It's up to you. It doesn't have to belong to any religion or religious philosophy, or even be defined. Another suggestion, which seems to be what you might be looking for (some sort of embodiment of something bigger than yourself) that really isn't attached to any religion, could be Mother Earth. :)

i think the best thing to do is stick by your own beliefs.
you dont nesscarily need a specific religon, hell you could take things from mulitple religons long as its something you comfortable with.

like me i believe in a god/creator but im no christian, since i view them (and othr org. relions) as hypacritical (grammer) but i do think they all preech good things.

Actually, the statement "I could use a little faith." a little icky by itself already. I mean, it makes it sound like it is some sort of good one can purchase. The bond between a Christian and his God is much deeper than that.
The Christian God might not be the right thing for your needs, faith in God means a lot more things for the average christian than just talking to him. There's much more of a concept of authority behind it.
Of course, if you choose to believe in his existence, then it is up to you how you want to deal with that fact. But if you kind of want to be a part of the Christian religion (that's the impression I got from your first post) and at the same time keep your distance to it, then I think it doesn't make too much sense to believe in it. :/
I'd rather recommend what turninto suggested at first. Christianity probably won't suit your needs so well.

But technically, there's nothing stopping you. In the end, it's still your call.

Thanks for the great response, guys. This has been really helpful. I think I'm going to 'test' religions out so I'll be going to church on Sunday and if it feels right, I'll keep going.

I'd really like to have a go at Islam, too, but I kind of feel like I wouldn't be accepted by the mosque around here. I mean, I don't know any of the Islamic protocols about attending church and I don't want to muck it up.

Might have a go at Catholicism though that seems way to serious compared to what I'm looking for.

Buddhism is always a good alternative and perhaps Judaism.

I can only try my hand.
