No, I’m not joking. Take a look at these examples and you will see just how bad the game’s turning out to be:

Ugh, it looks freaking terrible. They were just setting themselves up for failure since announcement with that crappy art style you see in all those "DEEBEEZEEINUNREALFORE" videos.

And yeah, I don't understand why Light isn't a fighter either. It's a freaking anime crossover fighting game! If Capcom could make a defense attorney be able to bring G A L A C T U S to his knees, you can make a highschool student with a notebook of doom fight Goku to a standstill. Don't come up with any excuses to keep him out like "Uuuuhhhhhh da death note lost its power".

And how...just HOW....were you so bad at this that every character just looks like an emotionless action figure?!

Just what the hell, devs?

I stopped being into anime/manga about five years ago, but wow, this looks like a game from the PS2 era or something? That's just, not right.

That Freeza gif is exactly how I feel about this game now.
Can’t blame ya, Fudge. I wasn’t super interested in the game, but how did Bamco mess up this badly? That Frieza is just floating like:

marvel vs. capcom infinite recycled a lot of character models from UMvC3, poorly reshaded to match MvCI's visuals, and despite having lost a third of its budget to street fighter V DLC still had better animation and overall visuals than this game.

what on earth happened with jump force?

So it turns out Kaiba was planned for Jump Force. I’d say he would’ve been a Yugi clone, but all characters play the same anyways, so…

Well, can't say I didn't expect this, but I don't care much. Already didn't like the artstyle .. it's not that jarring with some characters, but I've seen screenshots of Yugi and he and his hair looked kinda made of chrome and also, he had that stupid angry expression which didn't look like him AT ALL:
https://www.play3.de/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Jump-Force-Yugi-2.jpg

I've played a few Bandai Namco games and I feel they are really bad at anime games. There are so many mindless Dynasty Warriors, soulless adaptions with stiff cutscenes where you don't even get the game if you don't know the anime and J Stars Victory was really bland and boring. A campaign with four characters with basically no change in the cutscenes? Bleh.
I like the mainline Naruto Storm games, though. They are fun to play, even if I wouldn't play them again. The spinoffs (like Generations and especially the Tournament one) are quite bad, though ...

EDIT: Also, I get it, they have to include popular characters to make it sell. But it's always basically the same roaster, Goku, Ruffy, Zorro, Vegeta ..., protagonist character x, you can play these in so many other games, why do we never get really new ones?

Well, we can enjoy some hi-quality memes from this garbage pile of a game. For example, Deku is apparently racist to Namekians just because one of them was a villain:

Oh, and, this just happened: https://twitter.com/shofu/status/1096832147053195265?s=20

Yare, yare, daze…

it's a shame too because I was looking forward to this game. I wanted to play it. Now I don't because it's a hot mess. I love the Storm games and hoped that this was going to be more like those than J Stars was because that game was awful. Why can't they do a good crossover game?? Just use Storm 4's system, make up a better story with non-Akira Toriyama made villains (seriously everyone he draws looks the same, why does anyone like that) and let us control a bunch of heroes vs a bunch of villains in a straight forward battle? Something like how Dissidia is but with Shonen.

Honestly, I’m not surprised. When was the last time we actually got a GOOD 3D arena fighting game? Plus, it’s from Spike Chunsoft (who almost always put out lackluster games) and the graphics alone were enough the indicate that this game was gonna be garbagio.

I mean, just…take the interactions in J-Stars Victory Vs. and compare them to Dump Force. This seriously makes me wanna make a Shōnen Jump vs. Capcom just for better interactions (not that I’d ignore the gameplay, though, because that’s just as important).

I am kinda irritated that I've read many defense statements from fans (not here) saying "oh, it's a fighting game, it doesn't need a decent campaign, so one wants to play a campaign anyway". Actually, I think a game that lets so many shonen heroes meet, is basically PREDESTINED to have a campaign because otherwise everything that comes out of it is that a diverse cast of characters is mindlessly bashing each other's skulls. Yes, that's what a fighting game is about but I think it's much more interesting to see how some characters from this anime would react to characters from that anime. I love myself a good campaign in a fighting game because it gives the fights context, which kinda makes them better. Imagine Naruto Ninja Storm games without the campaign, it would just be dull. Plus, a campaign gives buying incentive to story-oriented people like me who wouldn't buy a fighting game solely focused on fighting. And seriously, it can't be that hard to find some kind of story if you put the slightest effort into it, at least.

Yeah, which is why I liked J-Stars Victory Vs’s campaigns. You just summed up everything I wanted to say.

Come to think of it, this game’s a lot like Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, in a way.

I'm gonna say this right here and now.

The only good things Jump Force did were memes, and bringing Light Yagami back from the dead.

He should've been the main villain for christ's sake but instead we get a Dragon Ball but not really villain.
