How To Learn Elvish

Ok. I'm going to be giving out what tips I can on how to learn elvish and different elvish words.

My source: The Languages of Tolkien's Middle-earth.
A complete guide to all fourteen of the languages Tolkien invented.

Contains a dicitionary of all non-English words. And English/Elvish dictionary, rules of grammar and pronunciation; translations.
How to write elish and other alphabets and runes.

This is absolutely awesome. I've always wanted to learn to speak Elvish. Some of the people that worked on the LOTR films were fluent in Elvish, which just amazed me.

I know some words in the Eldarian language, which serve as elements in Quenya and Sindarian names (check the back of the Silmarallion for details). It's so interesting because you can see what all the character's names mean.

However, I can see that we might have problems with the prononuciation, but I expect OSOD's guide will tell us more about that.

(It would be cool if either OSOD or DWD could make me a LOTR sig, I'll speak to you about it later, perhaps).

I believe it tells tips on pronouciation so hopefullt that won't be a problem...

All right. I'm sadly sick to my stomach again (Darn ulcer!!!) and my wrist is killing me. I'm going to give a very very short lesson, but I plan on doing lots more tomorrow and Friday and this weekend to make up for it, if all goes well.

Quick Notes:

They say that Tolkien created more of the Elvish language than he ever published, but they still wonder if there is enough for a compelete language.

However, with general theories and some other knowledge some conculisions can be drawn:

Quenuvalye i lamber Eldareva.
Thou canst speak the tongues of the Elves.

There are given about sixty verbs (Oh yeah...) and tenses of each to work with. I have lists of these I will post later...
