I loved it, but felt it could have been better in some areas, but still wonderful in kh terms. All the stories are flawed in some regard just like all the games are but they fit the series norms in my opinion.
The whole story was very predictable and I thought all the big emotional moments in the game felt a bit impactless because of the awkward cutscene direction and dialogue. Plus I think every one would’ve preferred it if the story was better spaced out through the game.
I honestly didn’t go in expecting a great story so it didn’t bother me that much because I still really liked the game.
There were a few great moments though, I really liked Yen Sid coming in to save the the guardians.
Btw I was really hoping for Yen Sid to come out of retirement and have a Voldemort vs Dumbledore moment with Master Xehanort(very unlikely I know) but what we got was good enough for me.
I’d say it’s the best since the first game. Not calling it an amazing plot by any means, I mean come on. The story is the series’ weakest link, especially considering how many times a game would retcon another game (Looking at you Dream Drop Distance). I will say this game is actually able to give The Organization some ACTUAL development besides just being the exposition fairies like they always are and there’s still some of that bullshit here. I also love how this game is actually more self aware this time and is actually humorous, because that’s one of the main problems I have with the series is how convoluted the plot is and how they took it so seriously, this time they were actually able to inject humor into it to make the story seem more fun. I also love seeing SoKai grow more as a couple, especially during that one scene on Destiny Islands. Overall while expectedly flawed, I love the story for fleshing out its characters more, especially Organization XIII.
