How do you dodge or “guard” boss attacks?

Before boss starts attacking the notes turn dark. if you hit them then the boss attacks will be blocked.

Red monster means prior to that section. It’s called the “Hazard Zone.” The notes have a purple aura. You have to hit all those purple notes in order to dodge perfectly once the boss uses their special attack. There’s nothing you need to do during the attack itself.
