Re: Shades of Blue: Heroes of Roleplay Town [OOC]
Shades of charcoal-grey immorality and small blue strokes of hope.
Name: Urbane. Known by friends as Watson.
Age: 21
Gender: Biologically Male. Identifies as Female-Leaning Androgynous.
Background: Watson moved to KHI City while young, bored, and with no ideas what to do in the world. While interested in the concept of meeting new people in a new place, that was not the primary draw for Watson. Oh no. Watson truly moved to the city, hoping to find like-minded individuals with which to discuss that theme which permeates the city to its core, and even gives it its name. Kingdom Hearts. Having had an interest in writing at the time, and wanting to get to know the fandom, Watson migrated to Roleplay Town nearly immediately, and joined the first Kingdom Hearts project that seemed accessible. This project, of course, would go on to define much of Watson's time in the city. This project was known as The Commission, and it soon became clear that this thing would become utterly massive. As it picked up steam, so too did Watson, who began generally joining any and every roleplay that looked remotely interesting.
Eventually, however, The Commission collapsed under its own weight, as its creator, Azrael, was involved in a scandal which got him permanently deported from the city. With no leadership, the roleplay died, and its members drifted apart. Without a single defining reason to stick around roleplay town, Watson began slacking off, and very soon began to go very long periods without roleplaying at all, occasionally joining in on some genius project only to be met with a chorus of "you're still here?" by their fellow roleplayers. However, while Watson ceased frequently working in Roleplay Town, they never left, watching ongoing developments and waiting for something really amazing to happen. Every time a project looked truly good, it never got off the ground. "Not mainstream enough" they'd all say! Watson's joining of a roleplay was a harbinger of doom, honestly, as nothing they joined ever seemed to get off the ground.
Nonetheless, Watson remained. While Watson consistently made their home in Roleplay Town, they began to venture outwards once again, making frequent trips to the Insanity District, if only because that was where the "movers and shakers" seemed to be. Watson made many good acquaintances this way, but could never shake the feeling that something was missing from their life...
And then they got superpowers. Finally met with a potential drive, and filled with that innate desire to learn, Watson began attempting to figure out where these powers had come from, and what was going on. The first step in Watson's master plan, and the currently ongoing one, is figuring out exactly who else has been affected, how, and when. Having lost many connections in recent times, Watson is strapped for info. Of course, there are always sources...
Personality: Once upon a time, Watson was characterized by obnoxious arrogance, and a severe inquisitive side. Watson had to know absolutely everything about anything, and was purely and simply offended when information was witheld. Of course, Watson was fairly free with information as well, and rather terrible at keeping secrets.
Much has changed about Watson since then. While Watson has picked up some negative habits, in the form of some rather severe laziness and a tendency towards procrastination, they have also become a fairly well-spoken, if nonformal individual. They have become fairly quiet and nondescript over time as well, preferring to avoid conflict and keep opinions to theirself. The portion of the time they spend doing anything to the contrary is usually spent in the Insanity District. As evidenced by Watson's propensity for "Insaniteering," Watson has a deep love for comedy, attempting to cram it into every story and character which presents itself to them, with... varied... results.
Appearance: Watson stands at a height of 5'10", and is certainly not fat for that height, but they could certainly afford to get in shape. Watson possesses semi-pale skin, from months spent dedicated to roleplaying, or other indoor activities. Like sleeping. Their hair is a medium to dark brown, and reaches just barely past their shoulders. Their light blue eyes reveal a perpetual tiredness, which can be seen by many as dismissive.
Watson's usual attire is fairly casual, and quite basic. Plain tees and blue jeans make up the majority of their wardrobe, though this basic formula is often augmented by the addition of various dress shirts worn overtop. For semiformal occasions, Watson will bust out a blazer and do up their dress shirt. Whether the occasion is semiformal or casual, Watson's feet can often be found adorned with plain workboots. The whole thing is simple, efficient, and virtually hassle-free. The best way to keep a wardrobe, in their opinion. In terms of proper overwear, Watson owns a peacoat, and at least two trenchcoats. These things are people's first impression, much of the time. If there's anywhere to excercise class, it may as well be with coats.
Powers: Watson has played many roles over the years which have focused on obscuring the truth, or illuminating it for needing eyes. As a result, Watson has developed the ability to manipulate light, though only on a small scale. Watson can redirect light, bending it to their will. For example, they can bend light away from one area, cloaking it in shadow, and at the same time brighten up another nearby area. By bending light, Watson could concievably make people or objects invisible, though on a relatively small scale. Of course, a person made invisible this way would be rendered blind for the duration, as a result of no light being able to reach their eyes, so there are some certain drawbacks... unless Watson happens to want to blind someone.
Characters who inspired this ability include Nole Aurorius and Mirosius, both of whom have frequently employed shadow magic/abilites, Qazre from The Commision, who had an affinity for light and fire magic, and Lillian Burkhart from Sol, who possessed enhanced sight. I'm certain I'm forgetting someone or other, though.
I really hope I'm fairly spot-on with this. Of course, if I did horribly screw up, or engaged in any other form of idiocy while writing this, someone, please, for the love of god, tell me. *nerves*
