Help with setting up dat Xbox Live.

So, my internet isn't wireless. And for my birthday this past Sunday, I got an ethernet cable. So I hooked it up to my Xbox, plugged the other jack into our internet modem, and tried to connect. Now, at first I couldn't get the Xbox to connect to the network, but after entering information like ip address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS stuff, I got it to connect to the network. Only now, I can't get the network to connect to the internet, while the Xbox still says the error is with DNS related things.

Any help?

I've you've plugged in the ethernet cable to your router and it still doesn't work just call tech support.
