If he WAS a fighter (and one like this secret boss), he could've defeated and taken Roxas back himself, defeated Xemnas, and saved the worlds by himself. I think it's pretty obvious that it's not Ansem. :/

I dunno - Xemnas in KHFM (as Unknown) looked like a bitch to beat. This guy looks like he's going to be the same way; he looked hard in the Japanese version, and they've made the bosses harder for the NA version. O_O

He wasn't in the Japanese version. He was added in for NA release. And he's supposed to be extremely hard. Harder than most bosses of the other games. He's about on par with the Lingering Sentiment from KH2FM, apparently.

I'll put my own oppinion and money down that it's young Master Xehenort. Why else would they show him in the game? we will see him later in future KH games I'm sure of it. Remember it's just a fight, doesn't need to partake into the current story, maybe future though who knows. Even though Lingering Sentiment awesomely came about in BBS. I'm still anxious to see who this person could be but it seems evident that we will see this mystery character in the near future. Lets keep our fingers crossed!

To show that MX actually comes from Destiny Islands, just like Sora, Riku, and Kairi.

And as much as I know, we only that Secret Boss is canon...I don't remember if it was stated that the fight was too.

They could show young MX for no other reason than to show he looked just like Xemnas when he was younger and that he's from Destiny Islands like Sora and Riku. Who knows, it could be an important plot point in KH3.

To the best of my knowledge, Nomura said only the boss himself was canon, not necessarily the fight.

Nomura didn't say the timeline is screwy, he's basically saying that he can't reveal anything at this moment.

Nomura: I think it’d seem so, but at the point in time of Birth by Sleep, this person’s true figure isn’t fully understood. Similar to the way the Lingering Sentiment was, its a character who at the present time is an existence of mystery.

AtW makes no sense. Marluxia's like in his teens during BBS and it'd make even less sense. And considering how old MX and Eraqus appear to be...

I don't think it has been mentioned. And although Nomura probably wouldn't do that, it's still a possibility, and an interesting one at that. Good idea.

No, but the way you phrased it implies that the old man body we see him walking around in doesn't belong to him.

We can logically assume that MX didn't posses other bodies because Eraqus recognizes him. At much, MX could have practiced possessing bodies, possibly with Ven and/or Vanitas.

thats not what i meant i meant his body is his own but the mystery guy is a body that he had possessed and then split from. MX seemed to know how to possess a body quite well with terra. maybe the character attacked aqua because he wants to kill all keyblade masters, since xehenort was one, and that could pose a problem for sora in the future... also with ME recognizing him, it is his original body.
