Funny/Unexpected things that happens during a performance.

Either you have been the performer or have just watched I'm pretty sure that you have experienced things that wasnæt really meant to happen on stage. Some times for the worse and other times for the better. It can be everything from forgotten lines to effects that fails.

One of the stories I remember the most is from when i starred in "one flew over a cuckoos nest". We had a scene when McMurphy was told to wash the toilet and gets a toilet brush thrown at him. The toilet brush we used in the play was of course never used for real. But one day when we had a performance the guy who played McMurphy did his facial expression better than usual when he recieved the brush... And that was because the brush he recieved was both dirty and smelly, probably used by the maid to wash the toilet :3

Well, I don't really go into plays much, but, I did once give a speech last year, I don't suffer from stage fright that much, but, at that time, I was a bit shy, so, during the middle of the speech, I stepped on a piece of chalk, and stopped the whole thing for a minute to pick up the chalk, put it back on the board, and remember where I left off....
But, that never happened again...
I know, it's not major, but, I still regret being so afraid...

I was in a play where many parts at different moments had to be improvised and often used audience participation

long story short my character starts flirting with someone and my fiancee gets jealous, but because she is a ditsy blonde I can convince her otherwise. (and the flirting is extremely obvious) the girl I was flritign with kept shoving herself at me sitting in my lap, feeding mee, grabbed my ass, etc. etc. REALLY OBVIOUS.

and this one old lady in the audience just wouldn't put up with it, she gave me the hardest time all night. (I think she was drunk.)


then comes time for a buffet dinner ( this was dinner theatre and the way it was structured EVERYONE Including the actors were all guests at this event for will reading and dinner) so I get in line. with my fiancee. and who should be in front of us but this lady.

She and I have this big argument. and she was really into it. she and I were yelling at each other (almost cussing) she actually started grabbing my faincee away from me (she actually had her hands on her and we were doing a tug of war sort of) (and I was running out of things to say...in character)

Finally one of the other actors comes by (and we also have a character palying a security guard) and I ask the actor to go get the securyt guard to escort the lady out of the gbuilding or something because she was drunk.

right away this lady backs off. takes her food and goes to her seat,

now keep in mind that I'm still in character and there are people in line listening.

My fiancee hears something like "he kissed her hand"
and she yells at me "WHAT?"
finally being the "smooth jerk" that I am I turn the talbes and make it seem like I'm the victim. to where she actually feels SAD for me. so she looks up almost crying and says "I'm sorry"

I took a beat (a pause)

put my hands on her shoulders.

and in a slow low, soothing kind of voice.
say "I forgive you"

of course people are tryign to hide theri laughter.

but that was the best moment ever I had in acting

Hehe, I can imagine that... Sadly, our school sucks so bad, that the bathrooms themselves don't have locks, so, getting an auditorium is a bit out of the question... We just use the gym

I had a jazz band concert last year and even thought my drum set was on the rug, the bass drum slipped off during a massive kick part. You can imagine how far it slid.

I've had several costume malfunctions on stage. My skirt fell down twice in the one performance earlier this year, and once in a performance a couple of years ago.

One of my friends was singing, and after he stopped singing, he tripped over the mic stand

I remember an eighth grade concert.
Those damned trumpets got off-beat, and we had to stop.
And I've never forgiven them since. :<

In a drama production last semester, there was a slight .. malfunction and one person was supposed to have a real quick change but she ended up taking waaaay too long. And there was nothing go on the stage at the time, so my friend runs on stage, dragging me along of course, and she started to perform what she called 'the intermission song', which was an in-character dance off so to speak. The audience liked it, and it was a fairly light sort of play, so it worked out okay.

Another thing, that didnt happen to me, but a friend of a friend xD In Year 7, he was singing the Australian National Anthem infront of all of these government officials and his voice broke right at the end.

lol in band we were about to start our first ever concert and while the teacher was talking a band kid's cell phone rang and he proceeded to answer it

We were doing 42nd Street. Right after intermission the tech guy turns on all the smoke machines to make the stage all smokey and nice. The first song begins (ironically named "A Sunny Side to Every Situation") just as the fire alarm goes off. We continue the show for about another ten minutes before the director finally stops the show and lets the audience know everything is okay and whatnot.

It was SO hard to keep a straight face.

I had a play where I was supposed to bouce silly putty and it didnt bounce and went off the stage and I had to get off stage to find it

I remember when I was a freshman, our musical was Hello Dolly, and we had this dinner scene with Horace and Dolly, where we used real food, and the guy who was playing Horace kept dropping all these beets and other food on the floor on accident, and so the girl who was Dolly had to keep improv-ing and being like "oh, Horace dear, don't worry, it happens all the time...." and whatnot. The audience thought it was hysterical and the guy had a really hard time keeping character.

Lol, that reminds me of my school production of Oliver a few years back. The guy who was playing Dodger had to pull something out of his pocket, but it was stuck. So we (everyone in Fagin's gang) had to improv a bit, but I don't remember what was actually said. Still, it was funny.

Just a few days ago I had to do a play completely in Spanish >< and so I played the bad guy and I had to have a fight with the good guy. We were using fake swords and mine was a foam one. So when the good guy does this super kewl move to disarm me, my sword flies into the audience, only to land in the hands of the bad guy for the group that was going up next. That was so strange...yet awesome ^.^

Also while I was watching a play performed by DVC last year of Romeo and Juliet, the guy who plays Mercutio comes out....dressed as a POTC-style pirate?!?!?!? And he was drinking a bottle of "rum." We were all laughing so hard at him, it was fun.

a few years ago I was in a Christmas play and I had a short solo in a song. I totally tripped over my words, but I just kept going and no one seemed to notice/care.

My school one time put on Boy Meets Girl (it's a very old play. They're cheap and do either old plays or some REALLY hard to understand Shakespeare like King Henry IV part 2. Very dull) anyway, we lucked out with Boy Meets Girl being a very funny play as soon as we update some of the pop culture references.

During the play, (the play takes place in Hollywood) an actor (named Larry Tom) and his agent or an the stage. Also on the stage is a desk with a lamp. The agent has a purse. The agent got to close to the desk and turned around suddenly, shattering the vase. The agent improved and laid the blame on Larry, as did the two writers who hate him in the play. Another character was supposed to be kicked out, but instead was rather humiliatingly impressed into picking up the glass. Later on in the play, Larry is supposed to receive a box of dead spiders. Larry improvised and stated it was a box of crushed glass.

The best part? No one in the audience figured we were improving those entire scenes.
