Flight of Aether
2158 A.D. - The Earth has a new found source of energy and it once again shows hope for a brighter future. Under the rule of a single uniform government dubbed the Earth U.N. Government, the energy is distributed among the remaining stable nations. With government funding and support new forms of technology advance in leaps and bounds.
A world once so grim and dark that nations were willing to wage all out war and risk the lives of many to obtain rights over what was left of the Earth’s depleting fossil fuels is no longer existent. This was thanks to the new form of energy obtained through the use of massive arrays of solar power collectors orbiting the Earth. However the possibility of humans living out in space for extremely long periods of time is still considered being unrealistic. This wasn’t until recently when the Government unveiled its supposed project of the century after many years of planning, experimenting, and building. The creation of the world’s first space colony, Olympus, has been announced, a self-sustaining frontier that lies past the boundaries of Earth; the size of a typical modern day city.
Though the government initially stated that the colony is still in its developmental stages, secret invitations have been recently sent out to select individuals in order to allow civilians to experience the life on the new space colony. By doing this the government hopes to promote further expedition into space as well dissipate anti-UN sentiments about the supposed alter motives the government has with the creation of the colony. With the announcement of opening the boarders of the colony to everyday people, the government has made public information about newly created branch of the military that will strictly be stationed in space on the colony called the United Nations Space Agency, abbreviated as the UN Spacy.
After months passing with little to no new information being released to the media or public about either the new space colony’s development or the recently established UN Spacy. That is until the Government released information of the launch date of the UN Spacy’s first battleship, Aether, on June 26th 2158, the 20th anniversary of the day WWIII officially was brought to an end. The maiden voyage of the ship is to safely transport all the selected personnel and civilians who had over a year prior to the day of the launch to prepare themselves for the new experiences they shall surely take part in. It is now the day of the launch and an extravagant ceremony including a parade and feast is being held in order to commemorate the day when space will hopefully be officially established as the next home for mankind.
