Peace Always Come With A Price

There was something different in the air today. The usual winds of love and laughter was gone. It was now heavy with depression and sadness. But it was with good reason, but also an unfortunate one. Five coffins were escorted down the long entrance of Bevelle. In symbolic fashion, her four guardians were in front of her showing that they would protect her even in the afterlife. People were lines up on either side of the entrance, crying at site of Yuna's flower covered coffin. At the end of the entrance were the three leaders of Spira; Baralai, Gippal and Nooj who was accompanied by his lover and wife, LeBlanc. None of them tried to hide their emotions even though they wanted to be strong for Spira and her people.

Daniel hid himself from everyone, they probably wouldn't want to see him showing no kind of emotion at the devastating loss of the former High Summoner. "I was promised an Eternal Calm, so much for that." He whispered to himself. He continued to watch the coffins and noticed the two others following the last coffin. The elder of the Ronso, Kimarhi and the other was with a small child that looked just like Wakka. It was the now widowed Lulu and her son Vidina. Daniel looked down, "I feel sorry for them, losing their loved ones in such a fashion. Bet they wanted that Calm too."

The procession stopped and the three leaders stepped up but only Baralai stepped to the microphone. As the Praetor of New Yevon it was his job to speak on behalf of his two partners.

"We are here today to honor the life and memory of Spira's truest heroes." Baralai began, "Paine, Wakka, Rikku of Al Bhed, and Tidus, the boy from Zanarkand one thousand years ago and also the lover of our High Summoner.Ten years ago, High Summoner Yuna and her guardians went on a pilgrimage. She gave us so much hope as her father did before her. She claimed that she could do the impossible, bring us an Eternal Calm." Baralai stopped to collect himself, Nooj then stepped up.

"She tried her best to do what no one could do and we all believed it. But as you see, it could not be done." Nooj said, sadness in his voice. "We are now back in turmoil and we once again need a hero. As we speak, new summoners are being trained to combat Sin and find out what this new and old threat is out for. But let us not forget why we are all here, to celebrate the life of Lady Yuna and her fallen guardians, just as she would have wanted. Nooj finished and limped behind the doors and into Bevelle, LeBlanc and Baralai close behind him.

Gippal stepped up, "You are all welcome to stay and grieve as long as you wish."

Well, I don't suppose this funeral could get more depressing. Kurai had only just arrived and he had to say he could taste the sadness in the air. As he moved past several silent men and crying women it became clear to Kurai that the deceased Guardians and Summoner had meant a lot to pretty much everyone here, as well as many not here. Kurai hadn't essentially thought of them as family, or thought of them as very close. To him they were just incredibly brave people who had gone up against near impossible odds and failed while doing so, he'd more or less refer to them more as role-models.

The adventurer was close behind him, the man's hood was pulled down, showing his long grey hair and scar that went from his left eye to his right ear. The mark had obviously come from a battle and left the man blind in one eye, since that eye was made out of glass and was completely white.
"To the back of the crowd." Ordered the man and Kurai replied with a nod. The mage navigated his way to the back and found a spot that he presumed the adventurer would prefer. Nobody would be close enough to hear their conversation and the two wouldn't be distracted by crying quite as much.

"My name is Asgerath, or Asger for short. Now you know that I took you here with me because I believed you could help. I'm not going with you however, for I am in need of finding an apprentice. I will leave you with this though;" Asger reached in to his pocket and pulled out an old book with a slightly withered spine and leather cover. The front had "Collection of Medium to Advanced Spells" written on it in gold ink. He gave it to Kurai. "Use it well, I know you wish to become better then you currently are with the Magical Arts."
He then turned around and began to walk.
"But I need your help!" Yelled Kurai, gathering some frowns from men and women holding their fingers up to their lips, which was an indication for Kurai to be quiet.
"No you don't." Replied Asger without turning around. "I may find you again, and when that day comes I will have an apprentice possibly suited to aid you. Until then!" Then the adventurer vanished into the crowd.
Kurai frowned as he held the book with both hands.
"Who said I wasn't good in the first place?" Out of curiosity he opened the book. A rush of magic flowed into him and flashes of powerful Black Mages and Blue Wizards flowed into his mind as the book turned to pages of spells he already knew before letting of a small flash of light and moving to the next one. Once the book had finished turning to the spells Kurai knew it fell to the ground and Kurai stopped recieving flashes of Mages and Wizards.

"Well, that was enlightening."

_~*Thunder Plains Travel Agency*~_

Fu had awaken in the Travel Agency, full of energy, yet satisfied. She had a sense of delightfulness that shined on her face. She walked outside to see Kyodai coming inside. She asked him, "Your surely getting in late? Just coming from the temple?" Kyodai answered with a simple nod and a smile. Fu stopped and thought about Kyodai for a sec. Then picked up a rock and launched it at him while scowling, "You secret keeping pervert!" Kyodai saw her throw the rock and ducked, and said, "Hello to you to Fu. Your looking bright as ever!" Fu continued to verbally assault him with anger, "You act like I haven't been around you long enough to know that trick? The nod then smile and look back at the girls ass while she blushes in admiration from your charm!? No sir! I will not be a victim of your undermining schemes." Fu grabbed a larger rock with both hands and lobbed it at Kyodai. Kyodai was still ducked down and glanced up to see the devious smirk on her face. As the shadow casted over him a lightning bolt struck the rock and instead he was showered with pebbles. Kyodai turned towards the agency and taunted, "At least i still got my good lucks." Fu had already charged up to him and punched him through the travel agency doors.

The Travel Agency employee at the front desk exclaimed, "Not today guys! We just got through with the previous damages from your pet incident! We don't need anymore issues!" Fu pouted and continued to walk away. She stated, "I'll be out... Let me know when your done dreaming of all the female Guado taking your money." Kyodai froze in embarrassment and slowly turned with the most subtle movements. He didn't want her to see the look on his face. As he barely spotted her out his peripheral, she charged at him, began chasing him around the agency while launching several spells, and saying, "I knew it!!! You just couldn't wait until we continued on our journey! What a perv! Its because of people like you that..." Fu had froze. She put her hood up and continued to walk down the Thunder plains. Kyodai noticed that she had entered one of those self reflection moments and shrugged. He walked into the back room and began to rest. Fu continued to walk down the Thunder Plains, hunting for Cacti, while thinking about her image as a summoner and how the people of Guadosalam will think of her, knowing that she is a monk and the only other monk that frequents their town quite often was Kyodai. With him being her guardian, that would surely raise eyebrows, seeing how he doesn't necessarily have a honorable reputation there. His reputation, added on to her mixed blood, and the fact that she was traveling with 2 males from the beginning of her trip kinda makes the trip through Guadosalam a difficult one to swallow. Even so... She was not going back to the temple. This was her calling.

_~* Calm Lands *~_

Hikari was inside of his small little home working on some new tech that could revolutionize the world. He had been studying various pieces of machina and noticed that they all use wheels, or mech legs, for traveling. This idea, accompanied with the epiphany of why not combine this with the mechanics of an airship, brought him to the idea of a flying motorcycle. Its not to extravagant to where he needs massive parts, but it gives enough mechanical ingenuity to easily be applied to the car in necessary. As he tweaked and worked with the inner workings of the motorcycle he got bored. So he walked out side. Once he press the code to open his automatic door, yet another invention made by Hikari for the safety of the people of the Calm Lands, He removed the cloth hiding the door and was embraced by the warmth of the sun. Hikari continued to walk about the Calm Lands and ran into a group of children simply running around trying to catch each other. Only one thought came to his mind. How serene. So much for that thought.

Hikari heard a roar from the Monster Arena. As he raced to the entrance a beast leaped from the darkness beyond the entrance. Shortly after another beast followed behind it. This one was a dual horned dog type beast. As hikari began to reach for the warrior dress sphere in his side pocket, another beast fell from the sky and roared with a vile call. Hikari immediately pressed his fist to his chest. He hit the white pouch on the strap of his bag and activated his Gunner dress sphere. He immediately dished out a scattershot and shot all three beast. The initial beast and the flying beast both came charging in. The dual horned beast seemed to be the leader of the group. Hikari dodged the birds attack and was hit by a tail whip by the other beast. Hikari casted his express spell on himself and ran towards the obviously weaker beast. He ran, while charging his arm cannon, and jumped over its head. As he was directly over the beast he said, "Cosmic Wave!" Rays from the gun easily baked the beast at such a close range, and sent it straight to the farplane. The dual horned beast then tried to ram Hikari with its horns. Hikari jumped again and the beast ran into the wall of the arena. Hikari then threw a psycho bomb at the flying beast and began charging his gun. While the beast was coming to realize its demise and began to chase Hikari, Hikari continued to run and charge his gun.

Hikari stayed close to the mountain wall, avoiding the people of the Calm lands and making the bird constantly crash into it when it tried to attack. The dual horned beast had finally broken free of the wall and began to follow Hikari and the flying beast as well. Hikari waited for the beast to attack again. Come on tough guy. Your move. When it attempted he ran on the mountain wall and did a 360 degrees horizontal spin before kicking the head of the bird into the ground. He followed that attack by landing on the beast neck and released a charged burst shot directly to the beast head. As he looked back at the charging dual horned beast the bird faded to the Farplane just as its other comrade. Hikari continuously shot several energy pellets at the beast while they charged at each other. Though they didn't heavily damage the beast, they did agitate it. The dual horned beast began to charge faster. Hikari began to charge his buster and waited for the perfect timing. Almost there. Just a few more steps. As dual horned beast got closer he activated his Excellence ability, and released a scatterburst shot directly into the mouth of the beast.

The beast launched him backwards, but took extensive damage from the scattered bullets. Hikari counted down from 4 while charging his gun again. "4... 3... 2... 1..." As he appraoched zero he shot off his charged shot at the dual horned beast. The beast was seemingly at its end, but had enough juice to still think that it could fight him. Hikari reverted to his thief dress sphere and raced toward the beast. The beast tried to ram Hikari again, but instead Hikari grabbed its horn and whipped around on its back. He stabbed the beast with his knife and began to ride it like some kind of rodeo. As the beast calmed down, Hikari noticed that it had then began to charge towards the villagers. Hikari removed his dagger and used his Master Thief ability to slice off the valuable horns on its head. The beast then jerked Hikari off and continued to run towards the village. The children were outside watching this battle from the distance, but now they were becoming a product of this prolonged battle. Hikari casted first strike and began to catch up with the beast. The beast was acting in desperation. Wanting to satisfy its lust for chaos and destruction, it didn't notice Hikari arrive beside it. Hikari removed his daggers and swiftly dealt three crushing blows to the beast. The movements happened within the time span of 2 seconds so it was easily missed by the children. He slid under the beast and cross slashed its torso, then he lunged directly at the entire body of the beast, his last attack was a combination of him taking a position in front of the beast and him slicing of its jaw and kicking it to the side. He halted the beast from reaching the children and gained some teeth from it as well. The children where scared, but once he took care of the beast the began to laugh and smile saying, "We knew you would save us!" "That's right! No way some monster is gonna take down the hero of the Calm lands huh?" "The Machina Enforcer will always keep the peace here!" Hikari smiled and that thought came to his head again. How serene.

Shifting through the spaces like only Mist can.
Mist himself walks through the doors of the travel agency and notices the exasperated look on the attendant. He smiles to himself as he realized that Fu and Kyodai must have gotten into another argument. Thinking that to be the case he looks around the area and notices that all of the damage seems to be limited to the outside world. But then again, even in a place of a perpetual lightning storm it would be hard not to see the small fires and even the ice growing from the ground. He just sighs as he moves to rub the bridge of his nose only to be stopped by the mask that he wears over his face. But instead of removing the mask he decides to focus on the past a little bit. One memory in particular that happened at this very spot. He looks in the general direction and recalls the concert that Lady Yuna herself performed only to have some woman that looked quite a bit like her to appear. But that was the most normal part of that concert. By the end of the first song even the skies themselves decided to show the woman respect and cease the lightning storm that he plagued the land for years prior. Needless to say, the storms soon picked right back up.

"Leave it to the only Summoner to return alive after defeating Sin to hold a concert just two years later because we were fighting. I kinda wish that she didn't stop it. I was making some money during that time. Better than when I worked for that crazy woman and the bumbling idiots that could never do anything right. Now that was hell."

With that very process of thought out of the way, Mist raises the hood of his coat over his head and starts to walk around outside in search of Fu. Something told him that she was having useless thoughts regarding this Pilgrimage. But before he could think on this matter any more a flash of light warns him of impending danger. He makes a conditioned reflex to jump backwards just in time to see a bolt of lightning strike where he once stood. He lets his mind regain its bearings after the initial concussive wave of exploding air and the intense heat of the bolt itself nearly knocks him backwards. Normally others would turn back right now, but he decides to press onwards on his search for Fu. Afterall, how would it look if she stumbled on a rock at the time of a lightning strike only to look like she was on the business end of a Firaga spell?

With a fair amount of luck he finds himself standing just a ways behind Fu herself. He allows a smile to form on his hidden face as he makes his way towards her with a slightly quickened pace. As a result it doesn't take him long to get to her side as he finally removes the mask and lowers the hood. But instead of a friendly smile to greet her, he instead gives her a stern look and says, "Lady Fu, you should never leave on your own. Always take at least one Guardian with you for safe measures. You never know if or when someone hoping to stop your Pilgrimage will appear. Need I remind you of what took place with Summoners and their Guardians just twelve years ago when Sin last appeared?"

Bevelle

Renn watched the preceedings with a seemingly blank expression, his face shielding his thoughts of a similar experience that he endured when he was young...

He watched as he saw his parents head out into the bikanel desert. "What if something goes wrong?" He asked in Al bhed
"It rarely ever does little kid... and if it does... your parents should be able to handle it... they're stronger than you think..."
"I hope so..."

"I'm sorry... but a powerful rouge machina claimed your parents lives... but don't worry... you have your kin to take care of you."

He was raised on and off by multiple Al bhed after his parent's death. That's how he came to know so many, he knew anyone of importance in spira who was Al bhed to a degree. His higher intilect was welcomed as always. As he knew how to keep machines, as they were called now, Up and running at maximum. He worked with Brother, Buddy, and knew Rikku as well, same with Shinra. And much to everyone's surprise, many of Shinra's inventive designs were prototyped by Renn. He also was considered Cid's Mechanical prodigy because of his efforts in building the airship that took Yuna and Co. to Sin in the time before the 'eternal calm'.

Oh well another broken promise...

The funeral went on for some time now and the crowd had begun to diminish. The sun has begun its descent which meant that the moon was ready to take over. Daniel watched men, women and children silently sobbing in the arms of each other. Only a few remained over the graves of Yuna and her company. Lulu and Vidina, the young boy still saddened over the loss of his father, looked almost dead. His mother however, she remained calm, it was expected of her. She needed to be strong for her son.

"Daniel, it's time..." Baralai put a firm hand on the shoulder of Daniel and the two began walking through the gates of Bevelle with Lulu and Vidina behind them.

"Praetor, why are they coming with us? I thought this was for future guardians only." Daniel asked.

"They have every right to know what we plan on doing. They lost all of their loved ones today." Baralai responded, "And they might have some information we could use."

Daniel nodded his head, suspecting that Lulu could tell they were talking about her. From the stories he had her about her, she was the last one he would want to deal with at the moment. Her ability in black magic could easily kill or injure him. They had now entered Bevelle temple where Gippal, Nooj, and LeBlanc were waiting and watching a sphere. Anyone could tell that it was the sphere that Rikku had sent to Luca before, well, you know what happened next. Nooj whispered something to LeBlanc and she began to leave, Vidina joined her per request of his mother.

"Mayvyn, Gippal..." Daniel nodded to each man respectively and the two return the favor. One of them then turned the sphere off.

"Guardian McPherson, so glad you could join us. Now, let's discuss this pilgrimage."

Fu was not prepared to hear a history lesson about the past guardians. What she did want to hear was somebody explain how this process of reaching each temple would do anything, but continue the cycle. This feeling of being unsatisfied then raised in her heart. She knew the answer to this feeling though. Fu looked at Mist and said, "At least they would liven the mood! I'd much rather some asshole attempt to break me into the world than a half-assed guardian! Ky and his... Perverted principles..." Fu continued to walk until they reached the thunder pillar that was close to the entrance of the Temple. She then thought to herself, You could stay. You don't HAVE to go. It is your choice to be considered such a high status person, without you the people of Guadosalam wont have a representative in the course of this years Calm. Is it worth it? My life for the momentary well being of others? Maybe ... Maybe not... Maybe...

Kyodai woke up in a sweat. He grabbed his pendant and thought, The same dream... I can't believe the people of Guadosalam didn't have an answer to this being. Leave it to Machina to bring the element of surprise... Either way, we definitely need to do something about this. No. YOU need to do something about this. I dont have to do a thing. Matter of fact. I can't wait until I get to meet this guy. He's not your grade A enthusiastic I can tell you that much. Hmmmmm... Yea yea. You got it big guy. Just don't expect to much out of me. Kyodai grabbed his belongings and headed out to the front of the Agency. He ran into a fine gal heading towards Macalania Woods and stated, "Well you shouldn't be traveling the world alone. Mind if I join you? I promise, this guard dog doesn't bite. After all, I am a Guardian." The femal replied, "A Guardian? Then shouldn't you be guarding your summoner instead of me? Sounds like this dog is lacking some loyalty hehe. I think I'll do fine. My husband is meeting me there." Kyodai held a look of eh! Uh... Yea. And continued to wait for Fu.

Fu stated, "Maybe this feeling of anxiety can't be helped and that's how I'm supposed to feel. Awww! This shit blows! XP" Fu stuck her hand out away from the pillar and did a thumbs down. Suddenly the sky flashed and lightning struck a few feet from their position. Fu jumped back towards the tower, and held on for dear life. Then she said, "Wanna see something cool?" Fu walked out into the open terrain, and held her finger up as if it were a lightning rod as well. When the sky flashed, she put her hood up, and the lightning struck down on to her. Her jacket nullified the elemental attributes but she was thrown back by the shear force of the blow. As she fell to the ground she said to Mist in a burly voice, " *cough cough* Sweet right?" Fu had the biggest smile of enthusiasm on her face. She then stated to Mist in the same burly voice, "^_^ Wanna try? Come on man! You know you wanna. ~.~"

Crowd's died down, Kurai thought as grievers left the funeral one by one, walking slowly with their heads down. If he didn't have a job to do Kurai would be doing the same. Kurai moved forward moving around those who remained at the graves of the fallen heroes. Ahead of Kurai was another Guardian that was about to enter the temple. Hopefully more were inside, otherwise this campaign against Sin would end very quickly.
Hopefully more of us are coming. Thought Kurai, looking from side to side as he hoped to see more Guardians coming. Unless more of us are inside already. I sure hope so. He reached the entrance and twitched, the new magical power from that book was going to take some getting used to. Kurai took a deep breath at the entrance to the Temple.
"As I take my first steps into this Temple, I begin my adventure. I'm not sure if I'll even come back, but then again I have nothing to lose except for my life." Kurai looked back to the grievers that hadn't left yet. "It'd be funner than staying here at least." With that Kurai entered the Temple.

It wasn't hard to find the Guardian he saw before, since he was almost immediately told how to get there as soon as he entered.
His entrance was still slightly favorable, since as he entered he heard:
"Now, let's discuss this pilgrimage."
"Thank the Summoners." Kurai said, trying to make light of the situation. "I'm not too late after all."

Mist watches as the woman makes her way from the pillar and holds up her hand towards the sky. He knows what this could do to a normal person, but he also knows that she's not exactly normal and neither is her outfit. So with the flash of lightning she is flung backwards from the sheer force of the jolt and looks otherwise unharmed from her little experiment. Then as if teasing him she asks that he tries it himself. He knows what the outcome of such action would be, and it would not be pretty. But all things considered, it might be a good lesson for the girl to teach her some level of restraint. With that he gives into her taunt and walks a way towards her away from the pillar. He extends his hand towards the sky and braces himself for what is to come.

"Now watch carefully."

Just as he says this he sees the flash of light and fights the impulse to leap backwards. As a result the bolt of lightning strikes his hand first and travels through his body into the ground. Along the path that is his body the lightning sears his skin in an instant and sends him flying backwards faster than he's ever gone before. He slams into a nearby lightning rod and coughs up blood from the experience. He smiles weakly at his own stupidity and looks at the blurred direction of his charge. At that moment the insignia on his armor starts to glow a pale green and send waves of stored magical energy through his body. The burns slowly start to heal and the damage done to the various cells of his body begins to be undone.

"N...not everyone can... can withstand a lightning strike. Remember that you are special and will meet those that hate you for it."

With that he forces himself to his feet and uses the pole for support. He finally takes off the mask to wipe the blood from the inside of it and looks to the woman with his own eyes for the first time in a long while. It's when the magic finally runs dry from the spell that he feels fully capable of walking and goes to her position.

"Come now. We can't let the world see our Summoner looking like they just tackled a Fire Flan. You need to get cleaned up and Kyodai needs to be pulled from whatever woman he's found before we head off to our next destination. Would you prefer to go to Kilika or Macalania?"

There was definitely a weird tension in the air. You couldn't feel it, but everyone knew it was there. Then again, this is a conversation that no one thought would have to happen. Not once did anyone stop and think, "Hey what if Sin did return. What would we do?" Well maybe someone did, but no one here at this meeting.

"Yes, thank the Summoners," Nooj replied, "Without them, this situation would be a lot worse than it is."

Nooj lifted his cane and poked a button and the pedestal in the middle of all of them. A sphere popped up, it slowly flattened out and shifted into a map of Spira. There were several arrows pointing downward at some of the masses of land of the map. Text appeared above the arrows, "Temples" is what they read.

"Naturally, with the return of Sin, the fayth have also returned to their temples." Nooj explained.

The arrows over Bevelle, Calm Lands, and Remiem Temple collapsed and a stone tablet appeared. Anyone who had studied or even looked at copies of the tablets inside the temples could tell that these were not the aeons previously used. Baralai cleared his throat as it was his turn to speak.

"These are the three new aeons. Bahamut Sin, Bushido, and Despair."

All heads turned to Bushido as it was the one being zoomed in on. Its appearance was that of a gryphon, but there was something different about this one. It's right eye and shut with a long scar running down it from the eyelid to the middle of the cheek. It was wearing the remains of a red coat... it looked like a vest at this point. The small wing on the left side looked to be in a sling and there was a jug being held on its waste by a belt.

"If you couldn't tell already, this is Sir Auron. Yes, the legend himself is now a fayth and an aeon," Baralai informed, "Seeing how none of us are summoners, we couldn't summon the fayth to have a talk with him. Perhaps you could now that you have this information."

Gippal cut in before anyone could get another word in, "Look, let's cut the crap and get these guys out of here! They still have a summoner to get to!" You could tell that he was beginning to get annoyed. It was with reason, of course. Paine and Rikku were close friends of his, the latter being his former lover. Gippal quickly regained his composure and spoke again while reaching in his pocket.

"We don't have the kind of experience that Lulu has to help you with your pilgrimage. Thanks to Shinra and myself, we have these commspheres for you to talk on. Press the start button to fire it up." Daniel collected the baseball sized sphere and put it in a pouch. One was also handed to the other guardian as well.

"Daniel and Kurai, you will be meeting your summoner as soon as you land in Besaid. From there you will escort her to the chamber of the fayth.... Good luck on your journey." Nooj said, bowing to the two young men.
