Peace Always Come With A Price

There was something different in the air today. The usual winds of love and laughter was gone. It was now heavy with depression and sadness. But it was with good reason, but also an unfortunate one. Five coffins were escorted down the long entrance of Bevelle. In symbolic fashion, her four guardians were in front of her showing that they would protect her even in the afterlife. People were lines up on either side of the entrance, crying at site of Yuna's flower covered coffin. At the end of the entrance were the three leaders of Spira; Baralai, Gippal and Nooj who was accompanied by his lover and wife, LeBlanc. None of them tried to hide their emotions even though they wanted to be strong for Spira and her people.

Daniel hid himself from everyone, they probably wouldn't want to see him showing no kind of emotion at the devastating loss of the former High Summoner. "I was promised an Eternal Calm, so much for that." He whispered to himself. He continued to watch the coffins and noticed the two others following the last coffin. The elder of the Ronso, Kimarhi and the other was with a small child that looked just like Wakka. It was the now widowed Lulu and her son Vidina. Daniel looked down, "I feel sorry for them, losing their loved ones in such a fashion. Bet they wanted that Calm too."

The procession stopped and the three leaders stepped up but only Baralai stepped to the microphone. As the Praetor of New Yevon it was his job to speak on behalf of his two partners.

"We are here today to honor the life and memory of Spira's truest heroes." Baralai began, "Paine, Wakka, Rikku of Al Bhed, and Tidus, the boy from Zanarkand one thousand years ago and also the lover of our High Summoner.Ten years ago, High Summoner Yuna and her guardians went on a pilgrimage. She gave us so much hope as her father did before her. She claimed that she could do the impossible, bring us an Eternal Calm." Baralai stopped to collect himself, Nooj then stepped up.

"She tried her best to do what no one could do and we all believed it. But as you see, it could not be done." Nooj said, sadness in his voice. "We are now back in turmoil and we once again need a hero. As we speak, new summoners are being trained to combat Sin and find out what this new and old threat is out for. But let us not forget why we are all here, to celebrate the life of Lady Yuna and her fallen guardians, just as she would have wanted. Nooj finished and limped behind the doors and into Bevelle, LeBlanc and Baralai close behind him.

Gippal stepped up, "You are all welcome to stay and grieve as long as you wish."

Inferno was watching the cermony of High summoner Yuna and her guardians and wondered "after this should i talk to Lulu about how to become a guardian so i can have a chance to guard a summoner to an eternal calm for everyone." After the cermony Inferno went to over to Lulu and started a conversation with her, asking questions like "Did Lady Yuna have any other guardians?"and she would say "yes Sir Auron a legendary guardian". Then after talking for awile he then went to the Beville temple to find a summoner and ask the person if they want him to be his guardian. But on the way he stopped by the Beville libary to learn more about combat basicly magic. When he got there he passed the fiction and non-fiction isles and then went to magic combat and read a book called "Fire magic basics" and learned 4 spells out of it Flare, Firaga,Fira, and Fire. Then he put it back on the shelf and left the Libary to go to the Beville temple.

Fletcher was hiding behind a large rock listening to the ceremony. "You are all welcome to stay and grieve as long as you wish." "Hmph, soon Sin will come and end every last one of these people. But the best part is I get to watch them suffer." Fletcher peered over the edge of the rock to see if anyone was still paying their last respects but people were still there so he waited a while then stood up and walked over to the coffins. "You deserve this Sin shouldn't be stopped." Just then Fletcher heard the sound of a twig snapping on the ground he turned around but noone was there. "It's too dangerous to take the chance of being spotted here. I have to leave." Fletcher walked up to the large rock he was hiding behind and put both hands on it then he dissappeared.

The Summoners are practitioners of a sacred art, sworn to protect the people of Yevon.

To become a Summoner in a time of need...To know that Sin, a monster who had plagued us has returned...

Only a chosen few become Summoners, who call forth entities of greater power: the aeons. The aeons hear our prayers and come down to us.

I beg you, answer my prayers, help us in this time of need.

They are the blessing of Yevon.

A pair of blue eyes opened, and with a small sigh, they closed again. They belonged to a young summoner-in-training, Lucille, who had been praying to the statue of the late High Summoner, Lady Yuna. She arose from her kneeling position, tucking a strand of her strawberry blond hair behind her ear, and gave a formal bow to the statue. It had been some time since people had trained. Ten years ago, the temples were filled with summoner hopefuls, all determined to defeat Sin. Lady Yuna herself was one, though only she had truly defeated Sin.

Then why has it returned?

With another sigh, Lucille turned away from the statue, her eyes on the entrance to the temple, where many people had left to mourn for Lady Yuna and her Guardians. Instead of mourning, she had decided to pray, for she had decided to follow in High Summoner Yuna's footsteps. She would avenge Yuna, and put a stop to Sin.

The only question at the moment was how.

Lucille knelt before the statue again, lowering her head. "I promise, I'll stop this...somehow..." She whispered.

[Long post throw up, sorry]

Bevelle – Apu’s Arms Home office [One Hour Before The High-Summoner’s Ceremony]

Three men stepped through the glass automatic, first floor doors of the Bevelle-based office. One, resembling a gorilla in size a stature, with a goatee and a bald head. That one was on the right, the other, on the far left, was thin and jittery. He had spiked hair, two hoop ear piercings, and a ‘porn-stache’. Both fellows were dressed in all black, heavy armored vests covering their chest, several guns around their waist.

The man in the center was the most intriguing of them all, he walked as if he commanded respect. Dressed in a white long sleeved dress shirt [sleeves rolled up] and black vest, with pin stripped black pants to match. He had his right hand shoved into his pocket and the left resting on top of the black fedora on his head. A small cigarette was inside his mouth, spreading its fumes throughout the clearly marked non-smoking room.

“Boss, they’re lookin’ at us.” Goatee pointed out as they walked through the glossy looking lobby. Indeed, clients who were all waiting in their seats against the wall rushed to catch what they thought were secret glances at the trio. While Porn-Stache twitched at this, the leader smirked bemused.

“Take it as a compliment boys, we’re the main attraction.” He waved his right hand across the air as they approached the front desk. A pretty young blonde woman popped up from her computer screen and adjusted the glasses on her face. She gasped as the image before her came into focus, nearly falling out of the chair.

“C-can I help you sirs?” Her voice trembled while her hazel eyes surveyed each one of the men; taking note of the amount of firepower two of them were carrying. “Ah-ah-Apu’s Arms is here to serve! Hehe…” She nervously added. The fedora-clad man removed his cigarette, tapping a few ashes to the white tile below. He grinned a smooth grin before he leaned over the marble counter.

“Hi, my name’s Arcade Gambit. I’m a…business man of sorts,” Arcade pointed with his thumb to his two pals, “These fine men help keep the…merchandise safe.” He chuckled, “I’m lookin’ to have a meeting with Apu, I can just walk in right?” The man fiddled with his left earring. The receptionist grimaced.

“I’m sorry, sir. You need an appointment if you wish to see Apu. I can set you up with one though, the next opening is in…” At the moment, the boss gave his two goons a nod of the head, prompting them to step forward, hands resting on the biggest guns on their hip. The receptionist gasped, yet again almost falling out her chair.

“I mean, here’s an opening right here for today! How did I over look that…hehe,” She typed something quickly on her keyboard, and seconds later out came three laminated passes from a machine on her left. “Y-you can u-use these to get on the elevator,” With a shaking hand she handed each of the men a pass, “Allow me to show you the way.” With her eyes glued to the ground, she rose from he seat, and scurried off down a hallway to the left.

Arcade and his boys exchanged glances, and motioned on to follow her. “Laminated passes make me feel uncomfortable…” Porn-Stache muttered behind them all.

After a short trek, they arrived at the elevator. “Mr. Apu is on the fifth floor of the building, his room will be all the way at the end of the hall. Have a nice day.” The receptionist gave a stiff bow before running off, away from the three scary men with guns and such. Goatee went to press the button, while the other two musketeers leaned against the wall directly across the way.

Ding!

Two silver doors slid open, revealing a golden interior with turquoise tiling. A whistle escaped two, more talkative members of the bunch, while the remaining one gave a full body squirm. The filed in, with the boss resting up against the back wall.

Arcade rotated two black dice slowly between his fingers, while the other hand brushed across the bangs that hung over his forehead,

“Alright boys. This is the situation,” The boss began, reaching into his back pocket for his pack of cigarettes.

Floor 2…

“Ol Apu’s one of the top arms dealers in Spira. With Sin re-appearing, people are gonna be flocking for guns, meaning Apu’s business is gonna sky-rocket. I want a piece—correction a chunk of that profit.” Goatee tilted his head back to the Boss, who was busy lighting a new stick of toxin.

Floor 3…

“But Boss, how’re ya gonna get him to work withcha?”

Floor 4…

Arcade smirked, exhaling a long stream of black smoke from his nostrils, “ Simple, we just flash our guns.”

Floor 5…

Ding!

The doors slid open, revealing yet another long hallway. This one, far more regal [And Gaudy] in appearance than the last. Tall ivory pillars reached up to the ceiling, walls of gold and red were covered by various works of art gathered from around the world while turquoise floors tied it all together. Arcade was fixated on the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling the entire time they were walking; those were indeed real diamonds.

As the musketeers reached the end of the hall, a burly guard about the size of Goatee greeted them with a shotgun barrel.

“Weapons.”

“Hm?” Arcade feigned ignorance.

“Weapons.”

“What weapons sir?”

“Those. Weapons. Now.” He pointed the barrel towards Mr. Gambit’s dome, prompting both members of his entourage to step forward, weapons drawn. “Hmph—“

“Looks like we’ve reached an impasse friend,” Arcade stepped back, allowing his fellows to handle the work. “Go ahea---“

“Sanchesh, settle downsh!” It was then that an adorable blue creature came waddling out from Apu’s office. A suited Hypello.

“Mr. Apu…fine.” The crew cut wearing bodyguard frowned. Clearly hesitant, he lowered his shotgun, backing away from Arcade and his men, but still piercing them with his gaze. “Dish mush be Misturh Arcadeh Gambht! Come inh! Come inh!”

Arcade grinned cheekily at Sanchez before he followed behind Apu. Goatee and Porn-Stache waited a bit, making sure that the frustrated bodyguard would follow his boss’ orders.

Renn thought of his parents as Gippal spoke... He hadn't seen his parents once in his life, and now, he'd probably never will.
But from within, Renn's resolve was growing... His vengeful determination to find this monster and kill him, He practiced furiously with his range of abilities as a warrior. He mournfully stepped away from the following precession, and up to the statue of the High Summoner, Yuna. He saw a young summoner, whom he had partially observed during the ceremony. But Renn decided to stick outside for now... Think about some of the people who passed...

thump-thump...thump-thump

The rhythm that keeps life running. Once that beat stops, then it's all over. And unfortunately, that beat has come to an abrupt halt in the heart of Lady Yuna and her friends. A tragedy. Or maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was just the opening he needed to start his ascension. Still, the youth need not rush plans into affect. As they say, good things come to those who wait. And in this instance, timing is everything.

Miah arose to nothing but the dry smell of a cave lit with very few candles. A makeshift home to say the least ever since the destruction of the Kilika Temple years ago, Miah found himself marinating a hatred of Spira. Not knowing exactly how long he'd been away, it was time to unfold himself. With a flex of his right arm, the facade of the hideout came to a crumble elicitiing the radiace of day. The atmophere seemed somewhat heavy in a sense. Was it the fact that he hadn't a breath of fresh air in some odd years? Suddenly, Miah's face overtook an emotions of shock with what was followed by a slight chuckle. "So, she's kicked the bucket a bit early huh? At least that takes some weight off my shoulders," He seemed to be talking to the walls of the cave until a few pyreflies encompassed him. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to make a quick visit along the way." With that said, the pyreflies transformed his old, raggedy clothing into something more presentable (his attire as described in the template). With a wave of his hand the unsent souls bursted across the area, seeping back into the cave's walls.

Before his exit, a chill was sent up along Miah's spine. "A new Sin?! But how? And that must mean Yu Yevon was born anew! This day just keeps getting better! Don't worry...this time I'll try not to screw up." A leap of faith from the cave revealed Miah's body dropping from an immense height. "Swan Dive!" A snap of his fingers and a gust of wind engulfed his figure. Within a matter of mere seconds, Miah had arrived at his destination. Bevelle. Yuna and her guardians' funeral ceremony had already commenced and seemed to make a rather unusual entrance. Misjudging his landing speed, Miah's figure came into formation from the winds. And unlike coming to a quick stop like most, Miah completely misstepped and tripped a good twenty feet before taking a tumble head first over one of Bevelle's poorly structured cliffs. "Oh nonononono!" Surprisingly, he caught himself by four fingers over the edge. Remembering his ever-so-present fear of heights Miah called for assistance

Felden looked down on the ceremony from the building. “Bah. What a petty burial.”
Felden turned his back and walked away in disgust. “Soon they will be so sorry” he thought his sword flared darkness in agreement. “Calm down, Calm down. Soon our revenge will come.” He walked silently away and said as he went “If the Sin doesn’t get them then we will... no, we will get them no matter what happens. Hmmpth, filthy maggots”. As Felden got 10 paces away he heard leaves scrunching. He spun rapidly searching for the culprit. He shook his hair and turned around whispering “My paranoia must be getting the best of me” Then with that he vanished into the shadows.

There were people mourning for the death of High Summoner Yuna and her guardians. He sat on a bench for a while, staring up at the sky and having a few moments of silence in respect. Though he hardly knew them, maybe just a glance as they visited around Spira, he knew their efforts in restoring the Calm to Spira, and what more could anyone wish for?

The Calm was now no longer eternal. No one is able to live without fear of Sin anymore. He clenched his fist. But this was not the end. If High Summoner Yuna and her guardians were able to change Spira, so were the people of Spira.

He scratched his head, hearing the sobs and cries of the people around him. There must be a way of restoring the Calm back to Spira. Not just The Calm, The Eternal Calm. He lost his mother and friends to Sin before, and he wouldn't want the same thing to someone else. Cael stood up. "I'm starving." He mumbled under his breath, but stopped. It would seem kind of weird for anyone to be hungry at this moment, when everyone mourned for Spira's loss. The food probably won't even taste good, it'll taste salty like tears. He grimaced.

He sighed, settling back down on the bench and staring up at the sky over Luca, humming the Fayth's hymn.

For the first time silence fell the city of Luca. There would be no blitz ball today. People locked in tableau on streets, peering out through windows, staring at the massive live sphere-broadcast of High Summoner Yuna’s funeral projecting in the sky; even the afternoon birdsong had perished, for the seagulls too were transfixed by the gargantuan apparition of three men in their sky. The air reeked of melancholy and defeat. Its stillness penetrated the walls of Two Gils and possessed the bodies and voices of the ordinarily rowdy patrons. Their eyes fixed on the screen behind the bar. Silence.

The bartender craned her head behind as she mopped the inside of a mug and watched the man she immediately recognized to be Baralai address Spira once more, this time as Death’s harbinger. “We are here today to honor…” The screen spoke, but she did not want to listen. She turned back and stared at the glint of the mug, a glazed look in her eyes. Ten years ago Spira entered the ‘Eternal Calm’; two days back, eternity was redefined. Sin had returned, taking with it the sprouting seeds of hope High Summoner Yuna planted. The curse of a summoner is inescapable after all, she mused, swallowing the bitter taste at the back of her throat. They all die.

“She tried her best to do what no one could…it could not be done,” a new voice on the screen affirmed. She planted both palms firmly on the bar’s surface. Pinpricks rushed down her spine from the cold.

The broadcast ended, but silence still gripped the bar. Seconds later, quiet murmurings from the outside signaled the patrons to begin their conversations again. Fear insinuated its malignant tendrils into their words, penetrating all and leaving none untouched. They were afraid of Sin, but they were terrified of death.

“Hit me wit’ a double shot, Eve,” a middle-aged man said. “If mah liver don’t kill me, ‘tis monsta will. Might as well go out wit’ soma happy in the belly.”

The bartender snapped out of her reverie and began pouring. She slid the glass along the tabletop to the customer with one hand and caught his tossed gil with the other. Spira— she realized, Spira has given up hope. She slammed the coin into the register, then swung her legs over the counter and landed, crouched, on the other side. Gasps rippled from where she perched. Walking out, she felt the burn of every eye in the bar staring on her back. Bevelle first, she thought. I’m going home.

Gippal threw the doors to Bevelle temple open. "Is she ready yet? These people need their spirits lifted. Even if it is just by a little bit." Nooj pointed to a young lady praying by the new statue of Lady Yuna. The same statue that had been added a day after her death. "Never again did I think I'd see anyone pray so hard to a statue." Baralai said, watching Gippal go and greet the summoner. He placed a strong has on her should and nodded.

"It's time, stay with me and we'll do all the work for now. Your part comes a little later." He said. Baralai and Nooj reopened the doors and all of Bevelle, no, all of Spira watched as Gippal introduced the new summoner. He smiled as he did this, he had faith that it could be done. He had faith that another Eternal Calm could be brought to Spira. Gippal turned to the summoner then back to the crowd.

"Ladies and Gentleman, we have a new summoner." Gippal said. The crowd went silent, not the kind of reaction he expected. All eyes were on him now. Was this some kind of joke to enlighten the crowd of people? "We mentioned this earlier, ever since the sphere was obtained, we have been looking for a summoner. We found one and she is here now. I bring to you, Lady Lucille."

The crowd had a different reaction this time around. A mix of murmurs and whispers and cheers came from the people in Bevelle. The smile on Gippal's face grew even wider, he had accomplished his first goal. "As you may know, Lady Lucille has a long and dangerous pilgrimage ahead of her. She will need people she can trust and depend on to help her. She will need guardians. Is there anyone here willing to do such a thing? Is there anyone willing to become her guardian?" Gippal stopped talking for now, waiting for anyone to come up.

Daniel watched it all from his spot, eyes on Lady Lucille. "She's our new summoner? Are they sure she's ready?" Then he remembered all the stories he'd heard about Yuna and how she was timid and unsure. He laughed, "Like old like new."

He suddenly stopped laughing when Gippal spoke his last words. "Is there anyone willing to become her guardian?" Daniel waited for someone to say anything or step up. No one dared move. "Cowards" He thought. Just like most of the people he knew, they talked a big game but never could back it up. Daniel snarled and then came from hiding, without looking at anyone he took the long walk to the front. Loving the attention he was getting from everyone.

Daniel looked at Gippal then at the summoner and he bowed. "You have my protection...."

"Is there anyone willing to become her guardian?"

Renn's ears perked up. This could be just what he needed, to find his parents and help save the world too but he was more interested on his first goal.

Renn soon walked forward to Gippal and Lady Lucille. "I pledge my protection to the one hope for Spira." Renn went on one knee, showing his humility, then took his two swivelling swords out and combined them into the two-edged, two handed sword and wedged it into the ground between him and Lady Lucille. "You have my blades lady Lucille."

Aurora stood in the temple. She stood in the middle of three statues, all facing her. She walked towards the one in the middle. The statue looked down into it's hand where it was holding a sphere. Aurora placed her hand over the sphere. Tears rolled down her face.

"It's returned. The Eternal Calm was nothing more than a plot of false hope to all of Spira." she cried.

Footsteps could be heard behind her. She turned to see her younger brother a few feet behind her.

"What are you doing Yinuny? This is temple is sacred. The spheres in here arent to be touched unless given permission." he said.

She plucked the sphere from the statues hand and turned towards her brother.

"I gave myself permission."

Her brother pulled out his sword and pointed it at her.

"Sister, you know what you're doing is wrong. I cant allow you to do this."

"Yimdyh, little brother, you do not understand what I'm doing. Sin has returned!!! I will not allow what happened to our parents happen to anyone on this island. We are once again living in fear of Sin."

Aurora put the sphere into her pocket. She withdrew her twin blades. She took her fighting stance.

"If I have to fight you to get by then I will little brother."

"What is your plan? Do you plan on fighting Sin yourself."

"What I have planned is too much for you to know. It'll be better if I do this alone. THe people of Spira have been doing the same things over and over and putting their faith in Yevon and it hasnt worked! That so called Eternal Calm was nothing but a hoax."

"What are you talking about?"

Yimdyh walked over to his sister. He looked at her, worried.

"Are you ok, Yinuny?"

Aurora looked her brother in his eyes. She quickly jumped up and kicked him in the face. He fell to the ground. She walked over him as he layed there unconcious. She dropped to her knees, bent over and kissed him on the forehead.

"Sorry brother. Peace always comes at a price....and the people of Spira havent been paying correctly. I will bring the "True" Eternal Calm."

She stood up and began to walk out of the temple.

"Is there anyone willing to become her guardian"

"How insulting they expect to defeat Sin with so far three people and a summoner. Pathetic." Fletcher was watching this announcement with the other people in the crowd. After wards he lost his view because someone stepped infront of him so he turned into shadow and quickly shot ontop of the building that had the announcement going on underneath. So far noone else had volunteered for the journey to defeat Sin.

"I will not stand for this!" Fletcher clicked his fingers and a thunderbolt struck the ground where the croud was. The lightning had struck several civillians and killed two men.

"That will do for now."

Giving a bow to each person who stood before her, Lucille looked at her hands. She wasn't exactly...a people person. But she knew she had to say something--these people were willing to protect her, something that took guts and nerve.

"...I place my life in your capable hands..." Lucille spoke, a little quietly.

She was truly grateful, and a little more than nervous. Her expression, however, would never give away that feeling; she actually had a small smile on her face, as if a sign of welcoming. Despite having the little doubt at the back of her mind, she needed to toughen up. There was much to be done, and there was a subtle yet threatening haste to start the journey already. However, before any of them could say another word, a bolt of lightning struck the middle of the crowd.

What was that?

"Okay, okay let's hurry out of this predicament." Miah heaved up his right hand to take hold of the edge in means to pull himself over. He readied a base, planted a foot on the side of the cliff and vaulted onto the firm ground. Giving a few flicks of his fingers, Miah was completely covered in dust and proceeded to dust himself off. Little did he know, however, something was brewing. It was a chill of sorts. And then he looked up. Dosens passed out on the ground before Miah, remnant voltage of electricity crawling on the bodies. "Hm, not half bad," he thought with a satisfied look on his face. Obviously he had not committed the crime due to the fact that he was just hanging from a cliff a few seconds ago and the fact that the pressure of the attack did not match his own. It would be evident that a person who would deal this kind of damage would take a high altitude vantage point. To his left, Miah' eyes shaped up the building that seemed to tower over the ceremony. A figure stood idle on top. "Ha so predictable it isn't even funny"

He didn't have a clue who the criminal was, but it obviously had a setback in his plans. Someone that would deem themselves as an annoyance in the near future. Miah squinted his eyes and raised a hand in the shape of a gun at the figure. Bang! Drop dead. It then hit him, he was the only one that was standing on 2 feet in the area. He'd be spotted for sure and would more than likely be accused of the crime. Before making an escape, Miah hesitated. "I guess you're right huh," talking into thin air. "We'll see how this turns out." With the newly acquired information, Miah simply help his hands up with a short grin as if to say 'Ah you got me!' to anyone in the vicinity. He took another glance atop the building and gave a wink to whoever was standing abroad.

Two more people repeated what Daniel did. Kneeling or bowing, to the new summoner. Both of them younger than Daniel. One of them was barely a teenager. "This is just great, two kids and me. I guess we have to make due with what we've got" Daniel thought. After all, no one expected all this to happen, why not more surprises?

Gippal demanded they all stand up and each of them did such. "These are your new volunteer guardians. I hope you all are ready for this task that we hate to put on you. But I must ask you all to please watch over each other as if you were family. Keep one another in line and most importantly, make sure the summoner is safe." The crowd clapped and cheered. Happiness was all around them.

"We have a ferry waiting for you, you will be heading to Besaid first," Baralai informed then, "If you can acquire Valefor, we will know that you really are the chosen one." Gippal put his hand on the summoners shoulder again and just like before he nodded. He then turned to Daniel and the two guardians and nodded to them before he and the other two leaders left. That's when it happened.

It was like it moved in slow motion. A single bolt of lightening came down and into the middle of the crowd. It hit and two men got severely injured. Maybe it was the sun in his eyes or the person had hid from him but he was unseen now. The crowd stared at him and the two men thanked him as he walked back to the summoner. "I guess we won't be back here before dinner huh?" He joked, trying to lighten the mood a bit more as two bigger men dragged the injured into the temple.

"This will not end up well."

Renn jumped back up to his feet when he felt a shock from behind him. Pulling his blade out of the ground and Split it. He kept close to Lucille, with both swords being held backhand...his knees were partially bent and his head was low, sort of like a Zidane-ish pose. But he soon rose and stepped forward and sheathed one blade. "Who dares to harm Lucille?! Show yourself now!"
