FWIW KHI had been contacted previously about taking down content so it's not completely uncommon or unexpected that they were contacted about Rebirth. Though it is disappointing because we're now left with the rushed, condensed, oft-incorrect translations of a popular tweeter.

I just want to pop in and say, Kingdom Hearts has been a constant in my life since I was a child, and the mysteries have never yet failed to have me so emotionally invested (including all the gacha nonsense). I've never fallen so deeply in love with a video game series as much as Kingdom Hearts.

...until I played FF7R. Fwiw I've never played OG FF7 but I have a general awareness of the story. Rebirth especially really solidified how much I love these characters and the both the old and new mysteries unraveling. I'm at endgame content in Rebirth right now and I'm taking it much slower because I know I'll be sad when I finish it.

I totally understand the jealousy. I wish KH got this much love and attention to detail.

This shit is getting me so hyped. I’m still playing Rebirth (taking my time), at Cosmo Canyon, and good god this game just continues to blow me away with its quality, scale, variety, and setpieces. The world feels HUGE, it just keeps one-upping itself. The thought of traveling the entire world map in an airship including old and new regions in Part 3 is making me giddy with excitement. Plus underwater?? Revisiting Midgar??? Not to mention all the Weapons setpieces (speaking of which, I would be shocked if we don’t see Omega make a surprise appearance). At this point, I’m almost more excited for Part 3 than I am for KH4…. almost. And I’m not even done with Rebirth yet.

Did Barret and Aerith have any meaningful interactions in Rebirth? I'm trying to identify what Kitase is talking about here.

"Does that make me a dumbass?"

And that's pretty much it. They could have added more interactions between them when Cait Sith, Aerith, and Barrett go to Shinra Manor but instead they focused on a Cait Sith segment that added nothing positive to the game. Aerith seemingly "dies" in the game and that was one of the relationships that felt the most lacking.

Fingers crossed for Rebirth at TGA tomorrow.

And now, with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth released on PC, Hamaguchi's team can finally put it behind them and work full-bore on the highly anticipated sequel—a sequel that not only promises to match Rebirth's scope, but surpass it entirely, just as Rebirth one-upped Remake.

"Our development team is in full force," said Hamaguchi, "and you will be able to freely travel around the world map on the Highwind [airship] in the third title of the trilogy. Thank you for your patience, and please look forward to the next installment."

Good to see it confirmed again.

Yes, and a lot of people still think they’re not going to be able to do it, or it’ll be compromised

Kitase added Rebirth creative director Tetsuya Nomura was given "homework" to give the remake project a conclusion that both respected the original Final Fantasy 7 and provided a new sense of satisfaction not felt in the original. This was completed by the end of 2024.

"I'm very satisfied with it, so I'm sure the fans will be satisfied with the final chapter," he said.

It seems they are confident in that three year turn around they were planning, so early 2027 seems likely.

Any other AAA game releasing before that would likely need to release in the first half of 2026 to have time to get the level of promotion Rebirth and KH3 had before focus starts shifting to Part 3.
