Well, I looked at the 2 pages of Square Enix here and it seems that the Final Fantasy IX thread is gone. So, I'm gonna be the maker of the new one, ok? I know this thread will cause a lot of controversy...again. But, this is where you discuss what you like/dislike about FFIX and other stuff about it.

I, personally, love this game. Sure, they went back to the basics with the storyline and battle system and all, but it was the funnest Final Fantasy game out of them all. I loved every moment of it, except the weird final boss, but it was all good.

So, your thoughts?...again.

I hate this game.

Storyline was not really amazing, I missed a bit for the sci-fi I had in FFVII and FFVIII. I disliked the battle system. And I didnt like Zidane!! In fact, I hated him, hahaha!

Sorry, but I rather have 7,8 and 10...

And the Final Boss!! Damn, where did you come from??!

I thought it was ok. I liked that u could use four characters in battle again, and Vivi had some pretty sweet spells but that was about all

I don't see why everyone hated Zidane. He was pimp lol. Anyways, yeah, of course the storyline wasn't that great.. but that was because they were going back to the basics, like the SNES games. Save the princess pretty much. But they did add in a little more of a storyline than just that, which was pretty cool. And I actually liked the battle system. It was simple and easy to understand. Back to the basics again.

I actually liked the simpler storyline. It was a nice break from the deeper stories of FFVII and sometimes, you're just not in the mood for a deep story. I thought the cast of characters were well written and the battle system was cool. Of course, there were a couple issues I had...Dagger was literally the stereotypical princess, which annoyed me and Zidane was sometimes too much of a pimp. Heh, funny interactions between him and Steiner though. LOL

i liked this game. bad points i can think of where the last boss as everyone agrees, eidolons (i prefer name GF myself), card system was something i wasn't fond off and i think kuja being poetic was a bit hateful. Although i admit i liked 9 more than 7 but maybe thats because i never really got into 7's story so much.

Yeah, I loved the characters in this game. This game woulda kicked so much more ass if they got more into eash character's story a little more. A little more development, ya know? Yeah, the boss was just out of NOWHERE. That bothered me. And, I LOVED the card game. It actually made sense, unlike the one in 8. I don't know, I just didn't like the one in 8 that much. I liked Kuja. I might have given him alittle more clothers than Square gave him, but not much more. Don't want to take away his overall look. And I agree, I did enjoy more than 7, but there were some things in 7 that cannot be surpassed. Gotta admit that,

Triple Triad didn't make sense?!! If there was one cardgame that didn't make sense it would be the one of FFIX, but maybe that's just me...

I didn't say it didn't make sense. Oh nevermind. I did. Thats not really WHAT I meant. I meant it was actually fun. But then again, I was young when i played FF8 and Final Fantasy's pissed me off. When I got older, I had more patience. I know the one in FF8 made sense, but I loved the one in FF9...and it definately made sense too.

Personally i liked this game very much.. pretty much my favorite among the FF games, i liked the classic storyline, the battle system, the characters etc

Every1 else hates the final boss, i think im one of the only ones that have closely figured out where it actual fits in... i cant put it into words but i kind of understand its place in this game...

Characters i like is Zidane (imo hes pretty cool, being a thief hes not the typical hero), Steiner (i cant stop laughing at this guy, at a point in the beginning of the game, when hes on top of the tower watching as Zidane chases Garnet, i will just leave it there, and watch him jump (looks like hes jumping on a trampoline, hilarious), Freya (hey, its good to have something else than male animals in the party for a change)

dude i love that game. i think that the storyline was diff. from what they had done. the graphics were ok with their cartoonish not animish look. if you don't like the storyline, i think that it was similar to that of ffx on a basic level without sin but even then sin is kuja if you think about it, not literally but metaphorically. i think that it was one of the best ff's out there but 7 beats it buy a lot. I give it a 9/10 minus one point because there were too many moogles. lol. *although they are cute they get annoying at times. ^.^

the graphics were more than OK. They were amazing, especially for the PSX period. Probably the best looking game for its time in the Final Fantasy series.

Ironblade, I understand the boss very much. But I thought it would have been better if they explained a little more about him or his significance, you know? To me, thats the only flaw, besides not developing a lot on the characters. But yeah, its my favorite FF game.

Not where you live o-o
I haven't finished it, and I don't really plan to.
Yes, I know some people are gonna be like "But FFIX is one of the best games eva!!!" but I just don't really like it. It's really confusing (the battle system with 4 people was super confusing for me!). Almost any FF game would beat it (except maybe FFX-2 but thats another story).
FFIX just doesn't give me the "spark" when I play it like what FF7,FF8,and FF10 gave me. I cant really explain the "spark" but its like when you get soo hooked to the game you can't stop thinking (maybe thats why my grades sorta went down when I played FF10 xD) or playing it.
I do have something good to say about FFIX, the graphics were very good for during the time period of Playstation One =].

videogamegirl, actually, many people don't like FFIX, like you. Theres a select few who think its really good/alright. You should really give it another try. Start over though. You'll be able to undersand it more if you do. Thats how I was with FF7.

And how does 1 more party member make it so much different? lol

The 4 member battle system isnt a new concept in the Final Fantasy series, many if not all of the FF games before FFVII had the same amount of party members participating... with FFIX, Square went back to the series roots rather than using FFVII's and FFVIII's cyberpunk elements (with heavier weight on science fiction than actual fantasy).. a step that i appreciated very much

Man, Ironblade, everything you say is what I think. Thats cool.

Sure, science fiction is cool, but I always likes the fantasy feel to games. It seems more epic, you know? The characters have better personality and look.

And yes, the 4 member party is not new.
