NOT FUCKING SPIRA, THATS FOR SURE!
^No Yazoo's weapon is a gun with a blade attached to the top of it. It has a barrel and is able to shoot as we saw in AC but Squall's is a revolver that is combined at the end of the shell ejector to a blade stopping it from being able to shoot normally like Yazoo's or a gun.

Yazoo's gun showing the barrels

The bullets are used to make the explosion by use of vibrations and "magic" (can't find the right word) and are not shot out like a normal gun in a normal sense.

Well, it has bullet.

This pic is official. If it has bullet, logically, it should be able to shoot. Wasn't Yazoo's (FF7AC) weapon a gunblade too?
I think of these as shells, not bullets.
And gungon is exactly right about there being no barrel for the bullets to travel down. That was the first thing I pointed out to my friend.

Squall's weapon is a gunblade, a sword using components of a revolver to send vibrations through the blade when triggered.

Well, lots of people were right.

"When in doubt, Wikipedia it" and no, I can't think of anything better than that - Wikipedia only rhymes (albeit only slightly) with encycopledia and Uncyclopedia, so no song and dance.

Well, when thinking to it, that is maybe true...

Well, that is the proof I guess.

Then what the hell was I watching where a gunblade was shooting. You know what, screw this thread. I don't feel like thinking and doing research.

Didn't specify which one, so yes, the FFXIII gunblade does fire bullets. The lightning chick shoots soldiers and then slashes with it.

Some evidence to support;

Found this amazing thread in an archive at a game site of some sort!

Gunblade Specialist (Rewritten)
Gunblade Specialist (Rewritten) [Archive] - Wizards Community
The Gunblade is an advanced hybrid weapon from the future. It uses a basic sword blade for swinging, but when the trigger on the revolver part is pulled at the correct time, it creates a controlled explosion, causing the blade to vibrate slightly, dealing more damage as it cuts into the victim.

It holds specialist Gunblade ammunition. There are 8 shots available in a clip and it takes a standard action to reload the clip.

I’ve seen other Gunblade classes on here, but they seem to think that a Gunblade is able to actually fire its ammunition. I may be wrong and they may be right, but as I see it, there’s nowhere for any bullet to be released from, thus I have come up with my explanation of the extra damage from vibrations.

In Kingdom Hearts it does seem to show Leon’s (Squall’s) Gunblade as able to shoot fire ammunition, but I believe this was added to make it less confusing to the casual Disney gamer.

With the Kingdom Hearts comment regarding Leon, I feel this may be incorrect, as we didn't actually see it fire bullets at all, but instead 'fire balls'.

Another awesome description of the gunblade by another member of that thread said;

The standard Gunblade is a combination of a long sword and a revolver.
The hilt and grip of the sword are supplemented by a cylinder which houses
the shells for the gunblade. The bullets are fired along the axis of the blade, exiting in a notch on the back of the blade, near the tip. The handle for the weapon is approximately 30 degrees off of the same axis, to allow for convenience in combat, allowing the highest amount of accuracy and balance for both melee and ranged combat. The actual blade is wide and the cutting edge is curved as it reaches the point of the weapon. For all of you who have played Final Fantasy VIII, this is essentially Squall’s first Gunblade.

This is quite a detailed description of Squall's gunblade. Hope this helps Ichi TK, mate.
