So, I've been thinking about sending my father a Father's Day card for Father's Day. It's too late for that! If I send it today, it won't get there today. He lives across the country and the mail doesn't get delivered until Monday. I did send him a text.

What's the point? We aren't very close. He was always dumping me off on my older half-sister (his daughter from a previous marriage), because he was always busy doing his job as a DJ or doing who knows what. He also gave up my youngest half-sister up for adoption at two years old in a closed adoption. I never met her. I may resent him but I did send him a text since it's the least that I can do. I'll get around to sending him a card.

What do you guys think of Father's Day? What do you plan on doing? Any relationships similar to mine? If so, how do you cope with them?

I'm sorry you're not really close with your dad. :c

As for the topic itself, I think when it comes to any kind of national holiday, it's always the thought that counts the most. So sending a text can be equally as good as a card or a gift! :3 Anyways, me and my family spent Father's day a day early by having ice cream cake and taco salad for supper. We gave him a funny card with a gift card inside of it. And that's about it.

Even if you're not close, any communication between family is important. You wished him a Happy Father's Day, so I suppose that's all that should be said.

It's nice to celebrate for family. Remember, your friends come and go, but you're family for life.

Personally, we went to a very crowded beach. We drank beer on the beach. I caught the biggest wave of the day. All the ladies wanted deez nuts. Went home and had a family dinner. I only got him a card, however his bday is right around the corner so I'll hit him with a decent present.

I took him out for lunch to a burger place, and then we grabbed a beer after. I think he was really appreciative. Trying to figure out a gift was kinda hard.
