-INTRODUCTION-
Ah, see, this is what happens when the forums are dead. I get the urge to make more threads to help people! Yeah I know, how weird. Anyways, so here is the next in my "Everything We Know" threads =]. I doubt this one will ever be stickied though, so it will most likley have a short life, except for when it is in my signature. So... If you want to keep it alive then you need to post in it a lot! lol. Anyways, here is the basic rundown on what this thread is about:

I made this thread to help new members, as well as old, touch up on the facts about what we know concerning Xehanort. I was tired of seeing so many people clueless about the three games so I made the 358 thread, the BBS thread, and the Coded thread - and now, I'm bringing you a thread all about our favourite Villain for the same reasons. I hope many members find something of value in this thread, and if not, I hope you all can at least appreciate the work that I have put in for your - the members' - benefit. So, enjoy! ^__________________^

Oh, and before I forget to mention: this is the '? Thread' =]

DISCLAIMER: Please note, the content and writing of this thread technically belongs to me. I put in a lot of work on these pages and they are not allowed to be copied, distributed or posted, in part or of its entirety, on any site other than KHInsider. Thank you, and I hope you can understand why.

Every since we had learned that the "Ansem" we had fought in Kingdom Hearts I wasn't the real Ansem there have been a few mysteries to arise from that. One of the more prominent mysteries was Xehanort's past. In Ansem's reports, he details how he had found Xehanort near death and he took him in and nursed him back to health. He soon discovered that this man young man had no memories of his past life, leaving his true past shrouded in mystery. He also remarked, however, that Xehanort showed "remarkable intellectual curiosity" and "readily absorbed [Ansem's] teachings, gaining deep wisdom".

Nomura has expressed that Xehanort's Memories is one of four untold stories that he plans on telling. Then it was revealed that a new Kingdom Hearts game, Birth By Sleep, was going to be the new game to finally tell the story of Xehanort's Memories - explaining that Birth By Sleep would be set ten years prior to the first Kingdom Hearts game.

One of the new characters of Birth by Sleep was revealed to go by the name of Master Xehanort. He is one of many Masters of Keyblade that existed during BBS, and when he and his apprentice went missing, it foreshadowed a great disaster to come. Master Xehanort (MX) is believed to be the central antagonist of the game.

MX was first seen in the secret ending for KHII:FM+ which can be seen above. He has been seen to wield a Keyblade, with a keychain, and wants Kingdom Hearts for an undisclosed reason. He seems to know Ven and Terra, and is seen approaching both of them in the TGS Trailer. In the DKΣ3713 Party Trailer, Terra claims that Master Xehanort has an interest in beings with hearts of pure light and that if they were to follow the light, MX would appear. This is similar to Xehanort, who also had an interest in finding being with hearts of pure light.

Nomura has expressed that one of the game's central mysteries is the identity of Master Xehanort, and that the game will answer the questions such as why he shares his name with Xehanort, and why he is seen wearing the same clothes that Xehanort's Heartless has been seen in. Not much is known for certain on exactly how he is connected to Xehanort.

Ten years before Kingdom Hearts 1, people with the Keyblade began to appear and they fought great battles. When they were gone, a man without his memories appeared. Ansem found Xehanort around this time and nursed him back from death's door. Since then, Xehanort became one of six apprentices to Ansem the Wise. The other apprentices names were: Braig, Dilan, Even, Aeleus and Ienzo.

Since then, Xehanort showed remarkable intellectual curiosity and readily absorbed Ansem's teachings - gaining him deep wisdom. Ansem remarked that he exhibited extraordinary talent - perhaps even superhuman.

Ansem, the ruler of Radiant Gardens, felt he needed to solve the mystery of 'darkness in the heart' for the sake of the world. And as such, he decided that he needed to probe and explore the depth of a person's heart, and, upon hearing this, Xehanort willingly offered himself as a test subject to the experiments. Ansem intended to explore Xehanort's hearts with psychological tests, in order to see if he would be able to recall his past locked away within. Even, another apprentice, also shared interest in Xehanort's memories but Ansem remained unsure if Xehanort was the right test subject.

Ansem's original experiment on Xehanort spurred him to go further than Ansem dared and Xehanort and the other apprentices began to conduct experiments without Ansem's knowing. Spurred on by Ansem's youngest apprentice, Ienzo, Ansem constructed a massive laboratory in the basement of his castle. It was in this laboratory that they collected large number of test subjects that they preformed dangerous experiments into the "darkness of the hearts".

These experiments caused the subjects' hearts to collapse, even those of the most stalwart. Xehanort was astonished by how fragile hearts were, but since the subjects showed no sign of recovery, he decided to confine them beneath the castle. Sometime later, he went below and was greeted by strange creatures. Creatures that seemed born of Darkness. Xehanort was puzzled, wondering just what they were, if they were sentient beings, and if, they perhaps were the shadows of those lost their hearts to his experiments.

He continued to question what they were, wondering if they were the people who had lost their hearts, or incarnations of Darkness, or perhaps something completely beyond his own imagination. He surmised that even all of his knowledge provided him no clear-cut answer, but he knew one thing for certain - that these creatures were devoid of emotion. He decided that further studies could unlock the mysteries of the heart and was pleased for there was no shortage of test subjects - since the creatures were multiplying beneath the castle even as he wrote. He decided they needed a name, a name fit for those who lack hearts, and as such the Heartless were born.

The Heartless appeared in groups and were multiplying rapidly. When offered both living and non-living samples, they only responded to the living. They seemingly multiplied after absorbing something from the living samples, and after doing so, the samples body disappeared without a trace. Xehanort surmised that the Heartless were taking hearts. They were born from those who had lost their hearts and thrive on hearts seized from others. The hearts that were taken by the Heartless became Heartless themselves. While Xehanort lacked proof in these statements, he was confident in his hypothesis and decided to begin to study their behavioral properties. Though they seemed to lack emotion, he remarked that they indeed held some intelligence. He rose a question - could the Heartless have been made from the darkness in people's hearts?

In order to study the Heartless behavior, he picked one out for observation. It wiggled it's antennae, and, as if sensing a target, headed deep within the castle. In the deepest part of the castle, it's antennae began to vibrate as if searching for something and suddenly, a strange door appeared. A door which Xehanort knew not of its existence. It had a large keyhole on it, but it didn't seem to be locked, so he opened the door. What was on the other side mystified him - a powerful mass of energy. That night, he witnessed a great meteor shower in the sky and questioned if it had anything to do with the Door he had opened.

Xehanort later arrived at a hypothesis. The massive core of energy that lay beyond the door may be the Heartless' ultimate goal. The Heartless feed on other people's hearts, and yet they also strive for that energy core. As such, Xehanort believed that what was behind that Door must have also been a heart - the heart of the world. While he lacked proof, having felt that energy, he was certain that it was the heart of the world. He knew the Heartless were take hearts from living creatures, but also from the planet itself. But he wondered - what did the Heartless mean to do with the heart of the world?

Xehanort began to study the material from the meteors that had rained down, finding it to be a material foreign to their world. It was elastic to the touch, and pieces combined with ease. There were no records that mentioned such a substance, and Xehanort believed he may have introduced to their world when he had opened the door. The more he thought about it, the more his mind began to fill with thought on what other materials could be out there, maybe even if there were other worlds, but he pushed those thoughts aside, for he knew he was a prison to that tiny place.

Xehanort believed he needed to unravel both the motivations of the Heartless, and the mysteries still shrouding the heart and, as a start, he created a machine that artificially created Heartless. The machine was the product of all of his research thus far, and by recreating the conditions that spawned Heartless naturally, he was able to successfully create an artificial Heartless. He saw this as a great step forward to being able to create a heart from nothing. The artificial Heartless and the naturally made Heartless showed nearly identical traits, but for the purpose of the experiment, they needed to remain separate. Xehanort decided the best way to do this, was to mark the ones who had been created artificially in order to keep them distinct from the natural Heartless.

Ansem soon found out what his apprentices had been doing and not only ordered them to cease their studies, but to also destroy the results of their research so far. He questioned what had happened within the hearts of his beloved apprentices and wondered if, while pursuing the mysteries of darkness within the hearts, they could have strayed within its depths. Yet he remarked he remained the most foolish of them all, for having begun the experiments in the first place. And this error threw him into despair.

A visitor from another world appeared soon after, a king - King Mickey. Both Ansem and Xehanort expressed that they each conversed with the tiny king. Xehanort remarked that the King's vessel was made of the material that had composed the meteors and said that the King referred to them as "Gummi Blocks". Xehanort and Ansem both mention having talked to Mickey for countless hours sharing many stories, but one that caught Xehanort's interest was that of a legendary weapon - the Keyblade. One legend said its wielder saved the world, while another said that he wrought chaos and ruin upon it. Xehanort expressed great interest in this Keyblade, believing it to be connected to the door he had opened himself. However, Ansem says that Mickey had brought the Keyblade along with him on his travel, and showed it to Ansem himself. Which implies that, at most, Xehanort had only been listening in on the conversation and hadn't talked to Mickey himself.

As Ansem and Mickey continued to converse passionately, they deepened their friendship. Upon Mickey's advice, Ansem decided to review the data obtained in his basement lab. That was when he discovered the "Ansem Reports". Though they were written under his name, the only report he had written was the first one, and it seemed Xehanort had gone on to write Reports two through nine. Ansem ordered the apprentices to seal away the lab immediately.

Xehanort surmised that the Heartless are born out of the darkness in people's hearts and they desire to return to a greater heart - the heart of the world. He said the Heartless come from people's hearts, and as does the darkness. He questioned if the core of the world's heart was the world of the Heartless and that he planned to pursue the answer there, and become all knowing. He believed his path was set, and that he needed to seek out both the Keyblade and the Princesses of Heart. But he stated that his body would be too frail for the journey and that he had planned to cast it off, and plunge within the darkness.

He stated that in opening a world's heart, the barrier around that world is broken down and we see this as a shooting star. Because of this, he has been able to understand why Gummi Blocks have the ability to travel to other worlds. The cause of the walls breaking down is the appearance of the Heartless but both finding the door to the world's heart, and robbing the world of its heart takes time. If the door has been closed by the Keyblade, it would be impossible to reach the world's heart again and as such, Xehanort needed to take action before the one with the Keyblade appeared. Assuming the Princesses and the Keyblade are related, he selected out a special girl. He didn't know if this girl had powers similar to that of the Princesses, but due to it being an experiment, he could only hope that she may lead him to the place where the one holding the key was. He decided to send her off to the oceans of another world. This girl was Kairi.

Sending Kairi off was the last act he had done as a complete being, and as Ansem's apprentice. Having stolen his name, he and the other apprentices passed through the Door to the world's heart and plunged into the darkness - ceasing to be Human.

When Xehanort ceased to be a complete being any longer, he became an existence of solely a Heart. Technically being a heartless, yet lacking the transformation one goes through. Keeping his memories, his sense of self, and not having taken the form of a Heartless, he was different from the rest of them, and came to the conclusion that clearly there were still things that needed to be studied.

He began to detail how in order to cross over to the Dark Realm, you would need to cross through the door to Kingdom Hearts, the place connected to the Heart of all Worlds. He detailed how there were so many worlds: the present world, the light world, the dark world, and the world in-between. He questioned where the true paradise lays.

Xehanort ended his reports questioning what happens to the body once the Heart casts it off. He believed that if the Heart would turn into the Heartless in this world, than surely the body and soul could turn into something in a different world. An existence of neither dark nor light. An in-between existence casted off by the heart. A mere shell. He goes on to say that the relationship between the heart and the flesh is a complex one, but since we exist here - in this realm - they cannot be termed existent. And as such, he called them "the non-existent ones".

Xehanort's Heartless continued with his plan to find both the Princesses and the Keyblade, and under the name stolen from his former Master, he began to break the barriers of the worlds and in-turn, make them connected. He remained a presence of only the heart as he traveled among the worlds working for one goal - Kingdom Hearts.

Xehanort's Heartless remained in the background during the course of the first game, spreading the Heartless to various worlds. Feeding off of the darkness as he conquered more and more worlds, but he also had another desire - to become complete once more. And as such, he found Riku.

When Riku, failed to keep the Keyblade, losing it to Sora once again, he was confused and weakened. Xehanort's Heartless explained to him that in that minute he was weaker than Sora, but that he could be stronger if he were to plunge even deeper into the darkness, and open his heart to that darkness. He told him to let his heart, his being, become darkness itself, and when Riku did this, Xehanort's Heartless found it's way into Riku's body, slowly possessing him.

With almost all of the Princess of Heart accumulated, the Final Keyhole was nearly completely. But so long as Kairi had slept, it would not be finished, and Xehanort's Heartless, now in control of Riku's body, created the Heart Unlocker Keyblade. An artificial Keyblade comprised of six of the seven Princesses' hearts that had the ability to unlock hearts. With it, all they needed was to release Kairi's heart from Sora, and then the final Keyhole would be complete.

When Sora demands to know the name of the person who had taken control of Riku, Xehanort's Heartless responds, calling himself Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness. After engaging in a battle, the possessed Riku disappears, leaving behind the Heart Unlocker Keyblade. Using the Heart Unlocker Keyblade, Sora frees Kairi's heart, and she awakens, but not before Sora has turned into a Heartless himself, and his body vanishing.

With the Final Keyhole complete, Xehanort's Heartless makes his reappearance, having taken over Riku's body completely - he changed Riku's appearance to fit his own. As he goes to harm Kairi, Riku's heart takes over and stops him, giving Kairi the chance to escape. But after Riku's moment of strength fails, Xehanort's Heartless sends Riku's heart to the Dark Realm. Xehanort's Heartless now held complete control over Riku's body.

With the finale keyhole complete, Xehanort's Heartless made his way to Kingdom Hearts, where he was met by Sora - who, with the aid of Kairi, had been restored from his Heartless-state. They commenced in a grand battle which ended with Xehanort's Heartless demanding Kingdom Hearts to fill him with darkness. Sora said he knew that Kingdom Hearts was light, and with that a bright light shone out of Kingdom Hearts, seemingly defeating Xehanort's Heartless. Riku's body and heart reconnected, and Riku helped Sora close the door to Kingdom Hearts. When Mickey and Sora locked Kingdom Hearts, Riku and Mickey were locked on the other side - in the Dark Realm.

It seemed like Xehanort's Heartless was gone for good, that was until Riku found himself in Castle Oblivion, and he learned that Xehanort's Heartless still lived within his heart, and his darkness could overtake his heart again. Riku travels throughout Castle Oblviion trying to battle Xehanort's Heartless, and still accept that he could use Darkness for good. Near the end of his journey he meets the voice that had talked to him in the beginning of his journey - a red bandaged man that referred to himself as DiZ. DiZ told him that he needed to meet Naminé, and make his decision then on what to do with Xehanort's Heartless.

Upon meeting Naminé, she explained that he could lock Xehanort's Heartless away in Riku's heart so that he may never escape and take over Riku's body again. Riku declines, saying he'd rather fight Xehanort's Heartless himself and end it once and for all. Naminé smiles and tells him it was what he had hoped he would choose, for he was the only one who could defeat Xehanort's Heartless for good.

Riku then challenges Xehanort's Heartless and defeats him, but he comments that while Xehanort's Heartless is weaker, he can still feel his faint presence in his heart, and he knows that he is not gone forever. And so, Riku sets out with the guidance of DiZ to not only help Sora during his sleep, but to also help rid himself of Xehanort's Heartless completely.

However, during the year of Sora's sleep, Xehanort's Heartless only continues to hold some sort of a grip over his heart. Because of this grip, Riku's eyes begin to change colour, and to lie to others and to himself, he covers his eyes with a blindfold. When Riku is met with the task of bringing Roxas back to DiZ in order to help Sora wake up, he finally accepts the fact that he needs to do what he had feared, and that was to immerse himself in Xehanort's darkness and take the form of Xehanort himself. After doing so, Riku is able to bring Roxas back to DiZ, but being ashamed of who he has become, when DiZ asks for his name, Riku replies "It's Ansem".

Throughout Kingdom Hearts II, Riku constantly hides from Sora for he doesn't want him to see what he has become, but in the end Kairi reveals him to Sora and Riku stops hiding. When DiZ (now revealed to be Ansem the Wise)'s machine he was using to try and encode Kingdom Hearts into data explodes, it releases Riku of Xehanort's Heartless. Xehanort's Heartless had finally been defeated.

First detailed in Xehanort's Heartless' last report, when a heart becomes a Heartless, the flesh is casted off. This flesh, comprised of the Body and the Soul, is reborn as a new creature in the in-between realm in rare cases. When someone with a strong heart loses their heart, there is a rare chance that the body that is casted off forms a Nobody in another world - an in-between world. In some, even rarer cases, when someone with a strong heart loses their heart and creates a Nobody, there is a chance this Nobody retains human form.

When Xehanort and the other five apprentices stepped through the door and lost their hearts, they bodies turned into Nobodies in another world. These six Nobodies all retained their human form with just the faintest of physical changes, and together they formed the Organization.

Members of the Organization were given new names to reflect their new identities. These new names were an anagram of their previous names with an added 'x'. At the time of becoming a Heartless, Xehanort was going under Ansem's name, and as such, his Nobody name became Xemnas. The other apprentices' Nobody names were now: Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Lexeaus and Zexion. Nomura has said that he gets the feeling, based on the story so far, that Xemnas may be a Special Nobody.

After becoming a Nobody, Xemnas went back to Radiant Gardens and banished his old Master to a Realm of Nothingness. The first thing he did after doing so was release the seal Ansem had put on the laboratory and build the "Room of Sleep" in the far depths of it. After that, he frequently went down there and Xigbar overheard him talking to someone. This astonished Xigbar since Xemnas was supposed to be down there alone.

Around this time, Xemnas also brought back the Master Control Program on Ansem's Computer, and also put a password onto the DtD within the system. This password was the names of the seven Princess of Hearts: Kairi, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, Snow White and Alice.

Not much else is known about what the Organization did before KH1, but at some point, they stumbled upon a Castle within the In-between realm. This castle, was known as Castle Oblivion. Immediately plans arose to use Castle Oblivion as a new quarters for the Organization. Xaldin and Xigbar were in charge of recruiting more members in preparation of readying the new quarters.

Xigbar questioned what Xemnas was hoping to achieve with Castle Oblivion. Zexion said that they had already been told what their purpose with Castle Oblivion was, in which Xigbar replied that Xemnas had a reason that he hasn't told anyone. He said that with the Room of Sleep comes the Room of Awakening and that is what Xemnas is seeking - the room that wasn't built by Xemnas, and perhaps that was where the other "friend" was.

Xemnas is later seen going down to the Room of Sleep, where it is revealed that the contents of the room included Aqua's armor and Keyblade, to which Xemnas refers to as his 'friend'. What this means, and when this scene takes place has yet to be revealed indefinitely.

When Sora used the Heart Unlocker Keyblade on himself, both releasing Kairi's heart and turning into a Heartless himself, two Nobodies were created - Roxas and Naminé. Both Roxas and Naminé are created from Sora's Body and Soul, yet are the Nobodies of different people. Roxas being Sora's Nobody, and Naminé being Kairi's. Both Roxas and Naminé are special Nobodies - both not having the memories of their former selves. Naminé also had a gift unique to her, the ability to manipulate the memories of Sora and those connected with him.

Roxas and Naminé were born at the same time. Roxas awoke in Twilight Town, and Naminé awoke in Castle Oblivion. Roxas, who had the ability to wield because he was Sora's Nobody, was recruited into Organization XIII. Because of this, the Organization split in two, with half of it's members moving to Castle Oblivion.

The Organization had XIII members at this time: Xemnas, Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Lexeaus, Zexion, Saïx, Axel, Demyx, Luxord, Marluxia, Larxene and now, Roxas. When the Organization split, the members who migrated to Castle Oblivion were: Axel, Marluxia, Vexen, Lexeaus, Larxene and Zexion.

In order for Nobodies to assume a new existence, information about their own personal circumstance need to be gathered. Without a heart, a Nobody uses their memories to form the parts of a personality and emotions. For them, memories have become an essential element. After the Organization discovered Naminé, they thought of her gift with memories as a way to resolve the circumstances surrounding each of their abilities and attributes. The memories of those who had entered Castle Oblivion were used in the various experiments going on there. Above all else, Xemnas was investigating the importance of memories During these experiments, in order for these memories to be broken and then regenerated, the Organization created the Pods. The subject in these various experiments, was Naminé.

The Organization spent a great deal of time studying the importance of Memories in Castle Oblivion, until Sora showed up. One of the members, Marluxia, was put in charge of Castle Oblivion by Xemnas. Marluxia lured Sora to Castle Oblivion, and used Naminé to slowly manipulate Sora's memories. He had planned on turning Sora into his own puppet so he could overthrow the Organization and become it's leader. In an attempt to counter this, Zexion, Lexeaus and Vexen planned to manipulate Riku as a way to stop Marluxia.

In the end, Sora and Riku defeated the Organization in Castle Oblivion, with all but Axel having perished. But the damage done to Sora's memories were a big one, and as such, Sora needed to sleep in one of the pods the Organization had created. It would be a year before Sora awoke.

During this year, the Organization focused back on Roxas, seeing him as a useful tool to them. The Organization was attempting to make Kingdom Hearts in order to become complete beings once again, and finally being able to exist. This Kingdom Hearts was considered the Heart of All Men, and was comprised of hearts freed from the Heartless.

Every Heartless that is slayed with the Keyblade releases a captive heart. When this heart is freed it remains in a state of suspension and moves to the Organization's Kingdom Hearts in The World That Never Was. They planned to use this Kingdom Hearts to become whole, but Xemnas also wanted Kingdom Hearts for power.

When Roxas left the Organization, Xemnas demanded that Axel reacquire him. When Roxas fused back with Sora, Xemnas switched focus, and decided to use Sora for their own benefit as they had done Roxas. They continued to send Heartless after Sora, in order to collect the hearts that were being released. When it seemed Sora was beginning to pose the Organization a threat, Xemnas said that if they had to, they could eliminate Sora and go on with their plans without him.

However, Sora continued to defeat the members of Organization XIII, until the only one who was left was Xemnas. After Ansem the Wise had ruined the Organization's Kingdom Hearts, Xemnas absorbed the power of it and disappeared. A door appeared to Sora and co, a door that would lead them to Xemnas in the Organizations Kingdom Hearts.

After a grueling battle, Sora and Riku defeated Xemnas. The Organization had finally fallen.

-COMPLETE BEING-
When the Heartless of someone is defeated, their heart rejoins with their once extinguished bodies, on whatever world it may be on. In the case of KHII though, when the hearts held captive by the Heartless are released, they move onto the Organization's Kingdom Hearts - the Heart of all Men. In the rare case that the body of the person had formed a Nobody, however, the heart has no container to return to and remains in a state of suspension.

When it comes to defeating Nobodies, it becomes a bit complicated. If their heart has been freed and is in it's state of suspension, and then the Nobody is defeated, it's body will rejoin back with it's heart, essentially making the person complete once again. However, if their heart is still held captive by the Heartless, their bodies are swallowed by the Darkness.

With the case of Xehanort, his Heartless was defeated before his Nobody was, meaning that he may return in the future as his original human form and essentially - a complete being.

Gasp! A Xehanort thread! This will be a huge help in the future, especially when people get confused between Ansem's reports and Xehanort's reports.

To let you know, this wasn't a disappointment at all.

EDIT: People actually commented before reading? v.v

Mhm. That was a BIG part of the thread, trying to do all of that between the two reports. 'Twas nutso. But I believe it is 100% correct the way it is now =]

Yay! I'm REALLY glad to hear that. I was so worried it would be v.v

I really wished they wouldn't retcon this guy's back story with every new game. I don't even know what ti call him now. -_-

Xehanort seems like a fine name to go by.
Personally, i don't find anything truly retconned at this point, except for maybe that he wasn't the real Ansem. Though i see that more as a twist.

wow, how do you stand to type all this. Well anyway Xehanort seems like a good topic to bring up since he's like in every game but is still a mystery.

So apparently Xehanort just picked people off the streets or something to feed the heartless. thats really creepy, like serial killer creepy.

I have one question though. How come none of those heartless attacked Xehanort when he was studying them. Heartless seek out those with hearts and consume their hearts right and whenever someone is around with a heart they attack them. I know someone can argue he took precautions but he doesn't even mention that or even make note that they can be vicious. Does it have something to do with the fact that his name is an anagram for no heart with and X added to it.

I don't know. lol.
I'm assuming it doesnt go into detail on the precautions he makes because it is irrelevant.
But then again, maybe there is something off about him. I mean, he never did become a trues Heartless anyways.

>.> how many of these are you planning to make?

put great stuff >< i knew most of it, but i did learn some new things

but i have a question thats off topic sorry ><

Okay well it says in your thread under COMPLETE BEING

When the Heartless of someone is defeated, their heart rejoins with their once extinguished bodies

so when sora's heartless was like defeated (or whatever happened to it)
is this why he was able to turn back into normal?
because roxas wasn't defeated first?

(just been running through my mind)

kairi did that with her light. Kair has no darkness in her heart and being touched by the light can restore a persons heart or something to that effect.

Sora was able to be de-Heartless'd because of Kairi.
Essentially he was a walking heart in human form for some of KH1 and all of CoM.
Since he had a Nobody, if someone were to have defeated his Heartless, his heart would be in a state of suspension. Like his actual heart would be floating there, basically.
But since that's now how he was de-Heartless'd the rules don't apply to him.
If that makes sense.

It's different than that. His heartless wasn't technically "defeated".
