As most of us know, the unknown in final mix says "I am a mere shell." This means that he has no heart. As Ansem Report 13 says, "When the heart casts off the flesh, where does the body go? Heart and soul are separate, and the soul remains in the body. But can we assume that the leftover body and soul perish?"
"An in-between existence. Cast off by the heart, a mere shell, one who begrudges both the darkness and the light."
As we have seen in the trailers, the white "dusks" are assumed to be the "non-existant ones". If that is the case, then what is the Enigmatic Man? Both the "dusks" and the Enigmatic Man are "shells" but the two's appearances vary greatly. Why is this?

maybe only certain peoples shells can become unknowns meaning they had to have had a strong heart before they were split apart. so maybe the dusks are the weaker shells and the Org are the special shells that are stronger than the regular shells . maybe....

i would imagine if the person had a strong heart when they were turned into NEO's then their body and spirit were strong as well helping them to maintain their physical form(except their hearts lol) just a tought

The dusk are controlled by the organazation, aren't they? kind of similar to how Malificent controlled the Heartless...they maybe be one of the 3 components needed to return to normal. How said would it be for you body and Heart to take physical forms and duke it out only to perish at the hands of a kid with a giant Key...?

Meh well I'm guessing that these "mere shells" are the members of the Organization, but the thing about them is that their powerful, and most of them dwell on the power of darkness, only Diz and Riku and Mickey can use the power of the Twilight, and soon Sora will be able to do that too.
