(W.I.P)
Just a quick work in progress of a piece I'm putting into the Art Festival I'm in come Saturday. I've always liked the idea of being face to face with your own mortality, because no matter how much you try to escape it or ignore it, it's going to always be apart of you. Not just you but for everyone it's just a part of life and you can't run from the inevitable. So there ya go, I hope to have it done by either tonight or tomorrow morning. I've only put about an hours work into it if that thus far.
Been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash lately so it's helped whilst putting this piece together.

W.i.p #2 About 3 more hours of work put into this picture. Go figure details take the most time. I'm really surprised at how the skeleton half has turned out so far. Hope to have this finished by the end of tonight or at least as close as possible. Honestly I would have more finished it but it got to the point of seeing how much black is on the hat and I just thought to myself, I really don't want to shade all that space today....so yeah.

@quiteMAD as much as a part of me would like to say it's open for interpretation, the Douchebag in me wants to tell those people to go F themselves, it's not like I'm dead and this got found years later where the intention of the piece is unknown. I'm alive showing you progress of it and TELLING YOU in my own words what the meaning is so yeah. Glad you like it friend :D

In a way i could see ppl interpreting this as such. Sometimes what you draw holds a little meaning in how you feel at the moment you were expressing your creativity. It's whatever though...we all know that opinions and interpretations vary. Also i said it on FB, but this is looking good so far, and i can't wait to see it finished. Please post this up when you're finished, lol

About 3 more hours of work. You don't even understand the level of annoying shading the hat is, but I got it done regardless. The skull surprisingly didn't take any time at all to shade though. Only thing I've got left is to draw in the jacket & shade everything from the chin down. Should be done by tonight (if not sooner).
Ironically I was listening to "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger while working on this half. It's a pretty awesome song

Do you have anything planned for the background? Or just keeping it simple, due to time constraints? Only asking, because the majority of your pieces have plain white backgrounds, and it takes alot of effort to break out of the habit of just drawing the foreground figure.

Only because you wouldn't get off my ass about it Matt, here ya go, the finished product.
"Welp what can I say, it's been a long run but I finally got it finished. I was going to shade the the left part of the suit, however with the shaded background and the theme being duality it just seems better not to. The last part took about 1.5 hours to shade the hair, the jacket and neck."

It's a very impressive piece of work. I really like the detail and shading on the skull part and the concept behind the whole thing is interesting.
Great job.
