Chapter 2: Goodbye
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
(Sora POV)
I stand and help Kairi up from the sand, her eyes still puffy from crying. We stand there for a moment, looking at each other. I have to burn her image into my brain, it’ll be a long time before I can refresh my memory of her beauty. Seconds tick away but I can’t seem to break my gaze from her sad face. Eventually Kairi pulls me into a hug. I hug her tightly, not wanting to ever release her. Finally she pulls away and steps back a couple of steps.
“Go, before I change my mind. Remember Sora, I will always be here if you need me.” Her eyes are delving deep into mine, almost making it impossible to move. I reach out and take Kairi’s hand into both of mine.
“Take care of yourself Kairi, I will need your strength to get me through this.” She smiles and I turn towards the gummi ship. I see Donald and Goofy waiting outside of the ship, trying to ignore my moment with Kairi. I laugh to myself, trying to think how uncomfortable they must feel watching me and Kairi. I run towards them, leaving Kairi behind. I knew if I stayed any longer, there was no hope of me ever leaving, Kairi wouldn’t allow it. I finally reach Donald and Goofy, having to put my hands on my knees to catch my breath.
“It took you long enough How long does it take to say goodbye ” Donald quaked at me. I glanced at him with a deadly look.
“Shut up I bet it took you forever to say goodbye to Daisy ” I spat back at him, hoping to ruffle his feathers.
“Actually, it took Donald a whole day to say goodbye, ayhuck.” Goofy stammered, a smile on his muzzle. Donald whipped around to face Goofy, dumbfounded that Goofy had told me that fact so casually.
“Shut up you dumb dog ” As he bonked Goofy on the head. Goofy just stood there and let out another “Ayhuck”. I just shook my head and laughed myself.
“Come on guys, we have some work to do.” Both of them looked at me and nodded their heads in a yes. As I climbed the ramp into the ship, I felt a presence behind me. I turned and found Shiranai just standing with her hands behind her back.
“Shiranai, what are you doing here?” I questioned, not thinking I would ever see her again.
“You need to go to a place called Twilight Town, you will find Riku and King Mickey there.” I couldn’t believe what she had just said. My heart skipped a couple of beats. How did they end up there and were they ok? All I could do was smile.
“Well I guess that’s one less thing on my to do list”

(Riku POV)
Our journey had been long and hard. I was tired and started to get impatient with everything. My mind wandered to my friend Sora. The last thing I told him was to take care of Kairi. I love Kairi but I knew that Sora loved her more than I ever could. It pained me to let her go but I knew she would be happy with Sora. I also knew that Sora wasn’t with Kairi. That fact didn’t make me mad though, it just put a smile on my face. Kairi would be on our island waiting for him while Sora would fight off the heartless looking for the door to the light. I stopped and turned to the sound of the King’s footsteps.
“Your Majesty, where are we exactly?” I really couldn’t tell for myself because of the blindfold I had to wear. The light had become to bright for my eyes to handle but soon my eyes would be back to normal.
“Riku, you can call me Mickey. Anyway were in a place called Twilight Town. I think it’s ok for you to take that blindfold off. It’s not to bright out here.” He told me in an understanding voice. Slowly I untied the blindfold and readied myself to be blinded. I kept my eyes closed as my blindfold slipped off. I peeked out one eye and when it seemed safe, I opened the other.
“Finally! I was really getting sick of that thing.” I stated. I looked around and saw nothing but buildings. I was kind of hoping to see some kind of trees, to remind me of home. I shook away the disappointment and noticed the beautiful sky that presented itself. There were so many colors in the sky, it reminded me of the sunsets at Destiny Island. I look over at Mickey and realize that his head is pointed towards the ground.
“Mickey, are you ok?” I asked. His head popped up at my question and he just smiled at me.
“I’m just fine. I was just telling Shiranai to tell Sora where we are.” A light bulb went off in my head as soon as he was finished. I was going to get to see Sora. Finally, someone I could talk to that wasn’t three feet tall with big mouse ears. Then another question slithered into my mind.
“Who is Shiranai??” Mickey just looked at me and let out a small laugh.
“I guess I never told you. She is the keeper of the keyblades. Shiranai is the one who decided to take the keyblade from you and give it to Sora.” I guess that made sense, even though I thought they keyblade itself just choose it’s master. We started walking again but another question was nagging me to ask it. I was really getting sick of not knowing everything.
“Um Mickey...why are we here?” We just kept walking and Mickey gave me a simple answer, like it should have been obvious.
“The door to the light is here.”
