Did they ever explain about Kairi being a princess???

I just finished the game, and realized that they never really told us more about Kairi and her past. Like, in the first game we get a hint that she's from "Hallow Bastion" and that she's one of the princesses of heart, but they never told us as to why she is a princess. Who were her parents? Did she really grow up in "Hallow Bastion"?

I mean, Kairi being a princess was sort of expected but at the same time a huge shocker, yet we still need to learn about her past...?

I just wanna know if they explained it and I just missed it or something?

Well, they never really touched upon Kairi and her being princess in the game, because they didn't even use the Seven Princesses of Heart to open the pathway to Kingdom Hearts; therefore, the thing with Kairi's past still remains a mystery.

About three fourths through the first game, they show a flashback involving Kairi and possibly her grandmother in the library at Hollow Bastion...also, in one of Ansem's report, it explains that he's from Hollow Bastion and that he is going to "send a young girl" to another world...this "young girl" is most likely suppose to refer to Kairi, since she was sent to Destiny Islands.
