With all the characters from previous games making an appearance in KH3, I was wondering did anyone opinions of the characters change? Did one of your most hated characters become a character you now like or did you feel dissapointed with a character who you previously enjoyed, if so why? For me it would be these character:
Characters who improved for me:
Saix
Although I think Saix was a good villain in previous games and he did a good job of being a villain we’re meant to hate. I wasn’t a big fan of the character, although he fulfilled his role well, I found him to be uninteresting and honestly the only thing I found memorable about his character was his boss fight and his connection to Axel other than that he was just boring and even meeting his somebody in Birth by Sleep didn’t change anything for me. In my opinion his only defining character trait was that he was a jerk, however in a Organization were mostly everyone was one it wasn’t enough for him to stand out especially when some of the other members have more personality than him. However KH3 definitely improved him for me, the idea of him being a pawn for Xehanort who accepted his role but was still trying to sabotage him from within by working with Vexen and Demyx to secure a replica body for the good guys. As well as trying to hint to Axel that there another friend from the Organization he needs to remember by pointing out about the three ice creams and even in Re:Mind where Lea was asking who the hooded figure in the black coat was and him just saying stuff like it was someone from the previous Organization and that it wasn’t Roxas. Also his scene where he was defeated really helped with getting to know a bit more about his character and how he actually felt and why he hated Roxas and Xion while bringing up the new Subject X storyline, I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing him in the future.
Young Xehanort
Never really cared about him much in Dream Drop Distance however just giving him more screen time made me realise the character was more interesting than he first appeared. Also I liked the fact that in the Keyblade Graveyard most of the defeated Organization members had a scene where they had a small chat where they either reflected on their actions, thanked Sora or at least showed some kind of sign that they were going to be less evil in the future. However Young Xehanort simply doesn’t care and taunts Sora as his final words.
Characters I was not happy with:
Kairi
I was never a fan of Kairi but even I was still dissapointed by her role in KH3, I was hoping the big build up of her going to train alongside Lea so that they would both learn to use the Keyblade would give her a decent role in the Keyblade Graveyard and perhaps make me like her, honestly I wasn’t expecting much from her, but I hoped she would get a better role than being grabbed by the wrist, kidnapped then stabbed by Xehanort.
Zexion/ Ienzo
I liked Zexion character back in Chain of Memories, he seemed to be a interesting and mysterious character who appeared to know more than he let on. He came across as one of those characters that although they aren’t a good fighter or even that strong, they are definitely someone that you shouldn’t let your guard down when you’re around them. Even though he didn’t speak in Birth by Sleep he still seemed mysterious and I still don’t think they explained what happened to him and why he ended up with the apprentices in the first place. However KH3 version of Ienzo has none of the mystery that his character had and honestly he just boring now in my opinion.
