Hey there,

So, Like pretty much everyone else on this site, with the exception of a few, I have never played KHX. Which saddens me greatly.:frown: But, while I have never played it, one of it's many mysteries has intrigued me. This mystery is of course the mystery of Daybreak Town.

My question is really what happened to it? Why is it so similar to many other places, and yet so different?

One obvious answer would be that it was swallowed by darkness after the keyblade war, never to be seen again. This answer makes some sense, however, when you figure in that worlds like Enchanted Dominion and Dwarf Woodlands survive and are present many, many years later this makes no sense.

As we know, after the keyblade war enveloped the world into darkness, the light of the lost worlds that was apparently snuffed out lived on the hearts of children.

If this is true, then we can assume that great worlds of light like Daybreak Town must have survived in some fashion. BTW, note something that Kairi's Grandmother says: "With these fragments of light, children rebuilt the lost world, it's the world we live in now."
Now, I don't think this is a coincidence. If Kairi's Grandmother states that "the world we [they] live in now" was a world rebuilt from before the keyblade war, shouldn't Radiant Garden appear in KHX?
Remember, Kairi's Grandma is, for all we know, completely oblivious to the fact that there are other worlds, so she must be referring to Radiant Garden.

That begs the question, where is Radiant Garden in KHX?
It has to be there, at least in some form. Could it be that Radiant Garden and Daybreak Town are connected in some fashion? I believe they are. I believe that Daybreak Town also resembles Traverse Town to some degree.

Just look at these screens:

Notice the blatant similarities in style, architecture, and color palate?
Here comes the theory part, brace yourself!

What if Daybreak Town was split into Traverse Town, and Radiant Garden?
I know it sounds a little crazy, but it's not like KH hasn't pulled this kind of thing before.
We know that there are worlds that can change forms, like LoD for example. LoD has a defense mechanism against the darkness which transforms the entire world into an in-between world. This can only be done by a powerful Keyblade Master, and leader of the world itself. We know for a fact that Keyblade wielders were abundant in the time of Daybreak town, and the 5 foretellers fit the bill quite nicely.
We know that Radiant Garden exists as a great bastion of light, we also know that Traverse Town exists to harbor refugees from fallen worlds. These worlds both have a sort of "special" ability attached to them that seem very keyblade master-esque.
My theory is that just before the Keyblade war enveloped the world in darkness, the keyblade masters split the world apart into two worlds to protect it's heart from being totally consumed by the darkness.
These worlds greatly reflected the original world's attributes and became known as Radiant Garden and Traverse Town.
Some might argue that Traverse Town only came into existence just before the events of KH1, but just because it didn't appear until then doesn't mean it didn't exist.

At any rate this is just a theory, and theories are often proven wrong, I just wanted to figure this mystery out for myself.
I hope you enjoyed reading!

(BTW, I welcome helpful critique, just please don't tear it apart, it's just a theory ;^^)

It is just a theory....a darn good theory.
Daybreak Town does have a strong resemblance to Radiant Garden and Traverse Town (especially with it's clock tower.)
Another possibility I just had is that all three may have been neighboring towns before the world went to pot.

I Like the theory it's well thought out and it does have similarities adding onto your theory i'd say the 5 foretellers combined their powers to split daybreak town into 2 pieces and the other thing i'd say is it also holds similarities to Twilight town which makes me think that it was also a part of it maybe they are all the seperate districts of Daybreak Town but what caused them to gain these unique properties i don't know but i'd love to have answered in the future

look familiar to the first district?

While I do like the theory, I must mention that it seems all the original worlds of Kingdom Hearts resemble one another minus DI (which is an island as opposed to an industrious city). Could it perhaps just be the way Nomura likes to design his cities lol?

Also on that note, while I like the idea of Traverse Town not just being a hub made up of many smaller worlds, it was kind of pieced together from many parts of other worlds (Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, Merlin, Geppetto winded up there) so I don't think Traverse Town would have been part of Daybreak or all of these portions of Disney worlds would be weird coming from Daybreak Town.

Truly an interesting theory, rather like it. =D
It wasn't long ago Master Spockanort showed me a comparison between RG and Daybreak Town and the similarity was rather good, as she pointed out RG seems like an aged DT.

I assumed Daybreak Town became the site of the Keybalde Graveyard
No. Just no. It is a horrible thought thinking that we will be killing each other in the future development of the game.

The biggest thing I do not want in Chi plotwise is that they will pick the strongest union as the "leader" or "hero" or whatever plot development they want to create to link to the Keyblade War.

Something like "Unicornus became the leader of the Keyblade Holders" or "The weakest Ursus fell into darkness and betray everyone else", etc becoming a canon fact in the KH series.

Maybe Daybreak Town will be in KHIII and play a role that will help out the guardians in their fight against the seekers of darkness. Then we might find out what the towns fate may or may not be.

Well Chi is a noncanon entry so I wouldn't worry about that. Leaves room for peaceful social game and the idea mjejr mentions.

After seeing some images of it I'd kinda like to see it as well.

You know what? The first time I went to Daybreak Town's 1st District, I got this feeling that I was in the previous state of Traverse Town, especially this tiny little space here:

Spoiler Spoiler Show

Ring any bells? That's right, the 3rd District in Traverse Town! The door and the staircase! Although the staircase's direction is completely different and there's nothing like a square down there.

I think that resembles Traverse Town a lot. As for Radiant Garden, it's undeniable that the town gives me such feeling of resemblance: the color patterns, the buildings' style, the sky, and the fountain. I even thought that WAS Radiant Garden when I first arrived the town! So you're probably right ;).

That reminds me that there is a town, though we only ever saw it in the background during an early KHII cutscene.

We better get to visit this place in III.

After seeing that image I agree. The more images I see of DBT the more it seems like Traverse Town to me.

I like it. I like it a lot and it makes sense.

As I've said elsewhere, I think that things in χ[chi] will find their way into the canon story, even if the story of the game itself doesn't. And I think that Daybreak Town will be one of those things.

The biggest thing I do not want in Chi plotwise is that they will pick the strongest union as the "leader" or "hero" or whatever plot development they want to create to link to the Keyblade War.
The way the story seems to be evolving, that there may or may not be a "traitor" in the five forces of Light, tells me that χ[chi] will climax in the sixth follower, the one that was not given a tome and did not become a Foreteller, being the one forcing Darkness over the World.

Further adding fuel to that theory of gelanporn's. Seriously, his theories have a scary level of possibility.

So you think that is daybreak town? I had no idea that it was around destiny islands. Hopefully in KH III we will visit there.

Good Theory, and you are right, Daybreak Town has a strong resemblance of Radiant Garden and Twilight Town, maybe we are going to see this world in Kingdom Hearts III

Yeah, that similarity was one of the things that got me thinking about it.
I love how they do that in KH, they give you a plain old "take it at face value" world and weave it into the mythos later on. That was one of the reasons I really liked Castle Oblivion after playing Birth By Sleep. They didn't have to write it a backstory, but they did.

Im glad Im not the only one who thought RG and DBT looked alike. I think it was made that way because it was a town, hence the similarities. It would be cool if it was in KH3.
