I see, that's why she didn't cry when she heard Sora's name and Re:Coded's message was just a casual message from Mickey that never included Sora saving those guys.
/sarcasm
I kid you I kid you
Thanks for having me :3.
I know,it's hard to believe, part of it was her death(
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Cutscene (English Subbed): Xion's Death - YouTube at 02:24) which ticked this whole idea, last guy who had the same 'death' was Sora himself, when he turned into a heartless, iirc no Nobody had the same death as Xion (including Axel, who sacrificed himself to destroy the dusks),in particular, none of the Nobodies faded into light (can't make an exception for Roxas, since he didn't receive a death,as much as he returned to Sora willingly,Xion had to die in order to Sora regaining his memories),so if anything, that's like sticking a rocket up her chances of being a candidate's ass and pushing it to the moon.
Well,it is what it is,a speculation, but I gotta say we need 1 more game before KH3 if we want any new information, and thankfully, there's a game coming soon, but I hope it'd live up to my expectations.
I actually like your analysis,if that happened,Nomura would be the one who found a way to satisfy EVERYONE,literally, what i really hope would happen is everyone taking a chance to kick some major ass,if i'd pair up the fights,it would go a little something like this
AV,SRK,XAR vs Terranort
Aqua and Kairi vs Xigbar
Ventus vs Vanitas
Roxas,Xion and Axel vs Xemnas,Saix and Young Xehanort
Terra vs Xehanort round two would be awesome, not that i think it'd happen again :/
Of course,we know there will be more,so there'll be more room for fights, which i think i'll really enjoy.
I believe DtL doesn't need two people as much as it only needs one with a strong light, but it makes sense,it really needs some replaying or even re-reading the story in order to analyze this :/
Lol, good one. Although it is a tad forced logic-wise that it
has to be Sora to save
everyone of them, since Mickey and Yen Sid apparently know about Aqua's whereabouts and Mickey as well as Riku both were in the RoD and found a way out again (and Ansem the Wise the first time too, when he became DiZ) so only Aqua being
constantly stuck there is a bit of a stretch.
Same goes for Terra actually as it would make much more sense logic-wise if
Riku would be the one to save Terra and not Sora.
The only ones of the tormented people who truly
need to be saved by Sora which also make the most sense would be Ventus, Roxas and Xion as Naminé should logically rather be saved somehow by Kairi.
^__^
That no other Nobody "died" like Xion is pretty easy to explain since Xion wasn't a Nobody, she was a Replica, a puppet filled up with memories from Sora which were stolen by her memory-leech ability.
The sparkly stuff and crystals we see in her death scene are actually Sora's trapped memories being set free.
If you really think that Roxas happily rejoined with Sora you're a bit on the wrong boat though. Roxas never
wanted to rejoin with Sora, he always wanted to be his own person and practically was forced into it by DiZ, Naminé and Riku in the Prologue of KH2. What he did was accept the inevitable since he had no possibility of escaping is fate anyways when he was that near to Sora in the pod.
Only at the very end of KH2, after his battle with Sora and the last conversation he had with Axel he finally
accepted his fate without further resistance as he learned more about Sora (which is shown gameplay-wise by Final Form being unlocked only then). If he's really
happy this way is subject to debate though.
Furthermore, sorry to say it, but I doubt the way you "disappear" has any say in how a light of the X-blade is chosen, as Mickey for example never "disappeared" at all and strictly speaking Aqua also didn't.
Of course it's all speculation, but that's what this section is for.
Yeah, sure thing. That's also why I would not advise anyone going into a fuss about who becomes a X-blade light. Even if one isn't a light they can still be helpful allies and give serious aid in the row of Final battles.
It isn't like that being a X-blade light suddenly bestows super-powers or something.
I'm thinking NeoTerranort (the one from the present) is guaranteed to be part of the XIII Darknesses, and therefore cannot be in any incarnation of the 7 Lights, so that narrows down the field a bit.
Also, Kairi being one of the Princesses makes me doubt her being one of the Guardians of Light, so I doubt she will be on there
And finally, (I know this will get some hate, but...) I doubt Sora will be one of the lights... Why? A little bit of everything really:
- Sora by himself isn't a very competent Keyblade Wielder
- Sora failed his MoM pretty badly
- Sora doesn't have any resistance to darkness at all
- Outside the keyblade, Sora has no real combat worth
- Sora is just a "Normal Boy" who happens to be capable of weilding the keyblade
- It'd be too predictable, and knowing Nomura...
Here's what I think will happen, all the hearts confined within Sora will be extracted somehow and returned to their rightful places and others will become their own beings *coughroxasandxioncough* and Sora will be unconscious due to trauma caused by the incident and like Xehanort said "when the time comes, the lights will be chosen"
The lights that will be chosen will be thus:
1.
Mickey (light orange)
2.
Riku (dark green)
3.
Aqua (light blue)
4.
Ventus (green)
5.
Lea (red)
6.
Roxas (gold)
7.
Xion (gray)
Now, the War will begin and all will be going according to Xehanort's plan, but Sora will end up showing up messing up Xehanort's plans once and for all... Something like that
As far as I know we don't even know if a "NeoTerranort" even exists. There is absolutely no information on Terra's (and Eraqus') current state. Only MX "states" that one of the lights is "on his side", but seeing of he messed up stuff in the past and only later found out the true way to forge the X-blade as well as getting foiled several times MX is now surely only a "unreliable narrator" at best and we shouldn't take all his words as facts.
And further on that topic while I can imagine him being on the enemy team unwillingly for a time I strongly doubt that he will still be there in the very final chain of battles when no forced pawns of Xehanort are left and only Xehanort himself and "pure" versions of him like Young MX, Ansem or Xemnas are left.
Then a rescued Terra can (and should) be very well on the good Team since he and Ventus practically deserve most to get a real shot in on MX himself as they got screwed over the most by him.
I actually though about the same thing regarding Kairi. I won't rule her out as possibly pulling "double duty" as a pure light
and protector but I personally think that wouldn't be a wise move by the good guys since no matter how good Kairi's fighting style may get she would be put in unneccessary additional danger.
Giving her Keyblade-training is of course a very clever thing to do and Aqua's accidental inheritance ceremony may come around to throwing a wrench in Xehanort's plan which he never expected: A Princess of Heart becoming a Keyblade Wielder in her own right.
Who knows? Kairi's Princess powers in combination with prowess with the Keyblade may possibly even serve to free i.e. Isa from his "Xehanortification" and break all originally unwilling participants of the 13 darknesses away screwing things royally up for MX.
LOL, I didn't even think of taking Sora out of the equation of the "set" lights yet, and now I wonder why...only because he's the protagonist? Nope, that's typical shonen stuff and just being the protagonist actually shouldn't get Sora automatically a place as one of the lights (protagonists tend to have way much other advantages over the other important characters anyways), so I will surely keep this possibility in my mind as well. Would be a "wham"-esque twist if Nomura included such a thing, although it would really drive home Nomura's
constantly brought up point that Sora is just a normal boy
hard. He may lead the final assault on MX, after everyone got a rightfully deserved shot at him maybe even deal the final blow to the old geezer, but is not a X-blade light while doing so.
Those bullet points you made there are really a bit overdoing it though, but I'll digress on those later in my response to D.D.D.
That however only presuming that the hearts confined inside Sora
have to be extracted, which is not a given as according to Yen Sid both Sora and Riku gained the power to wake sleeping hearts and Ansem the Wise in his explanations also made no indication that a heart-extraction would be necessary.
It's entirely possible that hearts (which are furthermore also connected
willingly in benefical connections, unlike Xehanorts) can separate on their own choosing or in a less gruesome manner than we have already seen done by Xehanort. Of course Ventus' heart will be returned where it belongs once fully healed
and when Sora is also ready for it, since Ven is such a nice guy I
strongly doubt he would want cause harm to Sora when he's finally restored.
As for Roxas and Xion (as well as Naminé), I do strongly assume that they can become their own beings, which is hinted by several factors which I won't list all here right now (if wanted maybe later in another post), but I also don't think that this has to come with much damage to Sora at all. Since not only would Kairi, Mickey and Riku strongly object to such an ordeal I would also believe that neither Xion nor Roxas would want to get a second life if it means lasting damage to Sora. Why? Not only because they are both also "good guys", but also because them returning by severely damaging Sora would make the sacrifices of their first, incomplete lives, meaningless since it happened specifically
for Sora's sake.
Rofl, even if we have 13 vs 13 or 7 vs 13 that is still not a war, merely a bigger skirmish.
But the base idea of Sora taking part in the battles and screwing up Xehanort's plan without being a light does really sound interesting and it would be something I could expect from Nomura.
When you take it all into consideration, -by himself- he's not a very competent Keyblade wielder... Plus if the scenerio plays out like I explained, he wouldn't be one of the lights that get chosen. That doesn't mean he can't fight too though
That is surely subject to debate, lol, while Sora may not be on par with Aqua, Mickey or Terra, I would personally place him around the same level as Ventus. While Ven may be faster and a bit better with Magic, Sora evens that out with being physically stronger and a better defense.
Being able to fight and help without being a light applies not only to Sora though, as it can be applied to several characters, possibly even all of them.
KH2 did a bad a job at making Sora look incompetent though. He had the most godly combo and could blow DDD Riku away no problem.
While saying this though, that's just gameplay
In KH2 combos were also way over the top and much more flashy than necessary. While gameplay should normally not count as a true comparison, one should also not forget that in KH2 Sora had likely full access to Ven's and later Roxas' powers
on top of his own which makes all that stuff more reasonable.
I also doubt that anyone would deny Sora having powers of his own, they're just big time enhanced by all the connections he made (closest ones to Ven and Roxas though), which is however the whole point.
1. IDK, he beat the snozz outta Riku/Ansem when they were combined, Xemnas, and Roxas all by himself. I wouldn't say he's incompetent.
2. Sora only failed the MoM because Geezernort and his buddies were messing the hell out of him and interfering all the time.
3. Sora does have resistance to Darkness. He resisted darkness all the time, even calling Riku, "stupid" when he was falling into it. In DDD he only fell to darkness because the Xehanorts doused him in it and had already weakened his heart. When Sora's at his normal, strong-hearted, peppy state he's pretty resistant to darkness.
4. That's not true. Even when Sora was fighting with the wooden sword in Hollow Bastion with the Beast he could still use magic. And back on DI he play-fought every single day with the other boys on the island. He at least knows how to fight. Take the Keyblade away from most of the wielders (Ven, Aqua, Terra, etc....) and they would only have magic, too.
5. This is the only point I agree on.
6. Too predictable? Nomura's been predictable in the past. Heck, we basically all figured out before BBS was released and translated that MX would somehow possess Terra and that Ven's heart had something to do with Sora.
I don't mean to be a meanie, but I just think all these claims you made about Sora are a little too harsh.
Ok, time to go to the bullet points, lol.
While I do indeed think that JustSnilloc give Sora too few credit I think you're going a bit overboard in the other way.
1. Sora didn't "beat the snozz" outta them in most of those fights, as against Riku/Ansem in KH1, while he won, he struggled in that fight. It wasn't a curb-stomp battle.
Xemnas is a more legitimate example when you only count the first fight with him at the Skyscraper, and there Sora had full access to Roxas' powers beside his own because by then Roxas had given up his resistance against the fusion.
The Roxas-battle is actually a pretty bad example since Sora didn't win that battle with his own power or skill, he won because of a surprise element and Roxas becoming overconfident. During the main part of the battle Sora was constantly in the defensive and Roxas dominated the field.
Another
good example would however be the final battle against Marluxia, as
that one Sora really took on and won completely
alone while Roxas was independent. Although their connection may still have lent Sora some extra power, no one can deny Sora winning against Marluxia due to skill and own
effort.
2. While that was also a part of it, Riku was also targeted by the Xehanort's and he went way more suspicious and investigative than Sora did. He also
let the Xehanort's mess with his heart while Riku didn't. Nonetheless I think is point does not really hold much water since unlike Riku, Sora has to deal with
at least three suffering other beings (Xion, Roxas and Ven)
directly inside him.
3. Up to DDD Sora was largely
unaffected by the darkness due to his strong heart, but that isn't the same as true
resistance to it. Just as Data-Naminé warned about in Coded, the suffering of those tormented beings connected to Sora is so intense it can harm Sora's heart and sent it to darkness. Data-Roxas also warned Data-Sora that pursuing the pain will weaken his heart. Exactly these facts where exploited by Young Xehanort and Xemnas and intensified...and Sora utterly failed to realize it. When he
did realize it and then fought Xemnas it was already too late. The fight with Xemnas practically "cracked" the last barrier and Sora's heart couldn't take it anymore...that was then the opportunity for Young Xehanort to strike.
4. That point is really wrong, the only one who really has "no combat worth" yet is Kairi, and that will now also change fast when she really trains together with Lea under instructions from Yen Sid. Sora has several years of self-taught combat training, not to mention Terra and Ventus also trained with wooden swords before they switched to actual Keyblades.
5. Agreed. No issue here as this is what Nomura repeatedly claimed. Sora IS just a normal kid who got to wield a Keyblade due to his connections to other hearts. The
ability to wield he gained from connecting with Ventus(NOT by taking his heart into his own, Sora offering Ven's heart shelter has nothing to do with the wielding ability, only with dual wielding), the actual Keyblade came from Riku.
Saying that Sora was a chosen one, a true Keyblade Wielder from the beginning IS wrong!
6. BBS was actually easy to figure out due to such a long wait time and the trailers practically overloaded with spoilers, not to mention Nomura himself dropping several obvious hints in Famitsu interviews before BBS came out. Especially such stuff about Ventus being connected with Roxas and therefore with Sora. That had not to be guessed because Nomura spilled it before the game came out, which he reportedly did as well as claiming all three to be completely new characters because people
kept mistaking Ven for Roxas or thinking that the kid there in the KH2FM secret ending
is Roxas.
No, he can stand on his own definately. But the majority of his power is from his friends- the connections his heart has made
No, he was using the power of hearts connected to his to do all that... It's what the keyblade allows him to do
What makes Sora so special is he seems to be able to freely use the strength of his friends to help him fight- That's what makes Sora awesome, not because he's an exceptional keyblade wielder, but because of his exceptional ability to bond with others and use their strength to help him fight
While that may be true that doesn't rule out Sora having powers of his own. He has some useful abilities that come from himself, while the connections he made greatly enhance his power without them he wouldn't really be a wimp.
I also don't see what this "without those connections"-blabbering (not only from you, but others too) is actually always about? It's not like the other characters or Sora himself will actually sever those connections once Xehanort is defeated or what. Even
Ventus draws power from the Hearts he's connected to, mainly Sora's, Aqua's and Terra's. His "my friends are my power"-line to Vanitas in BBS wasn't just a "that's why you suck"-speech, Ven actually meant that one seriously.
Correction, not the Keyblade allows Sora to use the powers of those connected to him, Sora's
heart allows him to use the powers
and the Keyblade.
Exactly this. Only thing that remains to add, which is also said by Ansem the Wise to be very unique/rare is that Sora's ability to bond also keeps sentient beings alive in a sense that should normally have dissappeared, like Roxas and Xion.
Whuh? I'm sure Sora at least has some power of his own. I mean, yeah, his friends' powers have helped him out of tight spots before, but it's not to the extent of when, for example, Ven 'gave' Sora his armor near the end of DDD to protect him from darkness. The basic fighting skills Sora used in the fights I mentioned are what made him victorious. Just because Sora uses his friends' powers doesn't mean that he's completely useless without them, and doesn't mean that ALL of his fighting is without any personal skill.
Riku has also been exposed to Xehanort and darkness far more than Sora has, therefore, he has more resistance to it. It's like in real life when someone gets a cold and then they're resistant to it afterwards, but then another person who hasn't been exposed is not immune. So that person gets the cold and falls under it while the person who already had it just shrugs the virus off. It's not the person who's now afflicted with the cold's fault that they fell sick. It's just that they haven't been exposed yet.
How do you know that? Have we ever seen Terra, Aqua, and Ven fight without the Keyblade? And who's to say that Roxas's ability to fight with a stick wasn't borrowed power from Sora, however ridiculous that sounds? The only person you mentioned that we've seen fight without a Keyblade successfully is Riku.
Yes. I agree that his ability is unique and quite special, but just because he utilizes it doesn't instantly mean that without it he's worthless.
Ven lending Sora his armor was also much of a sign of gratitude and payback from Ven's side since Sora also helped him so much already.
There are way more examples though, like Roxas allowing Sora to subconsiously contact Kairi to make her remember his name or Kairi restoring him from being a Heartless, Donald and Goofy saving his butt from Larxene etc.
I agree however that we should not paint Sora as a total pushover without the borrowed powers. Yet again I do have to ask why it is so important to dissect between Sora's own power (which
includes his ability to borrow/use power from others) and the additional stuff he earns from his connections.
In Final Fantasy VIII Squall and co. also gain most of their abilities and Magic from junctioning and therefore connecting with Guardian Forces like i.e. Shiva and Ifrit, and yet no one doubts their worth as fighters.
The premise isn't that much different here.
Or in FF XIII, most of the Superpowers come from being a L'Cie, not directly from the characters.
That, and Riku does not have to deal with the suffering existences inside like Sora has, whose pain
does weaken Sora's heart when it's brought to the surface uncontrolled and too fast. Data-Naminé warned about that and it was
exactly what happened in DDD due to Young Xehanort's and Xemnas' machinations.
Xigbar even indirectly confesses it when Sora accuses him of showing him illusions. He says it weren't illusions but dreams, as in the dreams of those who sleep in deep sadness due to their pain, which are all in the heartwrenching scenes we see when Sora stumbles through TWTNW and sees Naminé, Xion, Roxas and then shortly even
becomes Ven in looks (when Ven's heart reacts inside him). He simply dived too deep into the pain inside his dream.
Yes we have, Terra and Ven also train with wooden swords in several flashbacks and from the way Aqua moves I would not rule out that she knows some martial arts.
And come on, seeing Terra's build it's obvious that he is most likely a very skilled fist-fighter if necessary.
Roxas fighting with a stick is actually the same as Sora fighting with a wooden sword in Hollow Bastion, both the stick and the wooden sword don't really do much damage by themselves.
While it is true that Sora's main advantage is his reliance on others for his strength, I don't see why that would prevent him from being a light. If anything, that potentially makes him one of the best candidates (if not the best). Why exclude him from being a light if he stays true to series' theme of finding strength through friendship?
The main question would be if "finding strength through friendship", while being a central theme of the
series, is also a theme of the
X-blade.
Remember, the seven lights are said to be shards of the original, shattered X-blade from before the Keyblade War. Ventus and Vanitas formed a fraction, a piece of that Weapon back in BBS. so them being still both a light and dark piece of the whole thing makes much sense.
Xehanort however stated that the lights are chosen
naturally, yet we don't know any condition for a heart to be chosen except that it apparently has to be a Keyblade Wielder.
While I agree that Sora's connection ability doesn't disqualify him as a light at all, I also like to point out that I haven't yet heard a real solid argument on why he should be one of the lights in any case or is already set as one? Just because he's the protagonist?
Would actually be something new if the protagonist
doesn't get everything and the highest position by default just because he IS said protagonist.
I admit I put him as "set" light in my big post before exactly because of that "protagonist"-bonus and didn't think actually on in-universe explanations why he has to be a light.
