No. The anime is okay but it stops dead half way through the story. This definitely is a series where it's recommended to read over watching. This reminds me...
I watched the first episode of the anime and kinda liked it but now I'm not sure.
Would anyone recommend reading over watching?
Or rather: Is the anime good enough that I don't "have to" read the manga instead? I tend to get lazy when there are so many chapters...
We were all lost a little. lol But at least its back! Hopefully Hoshino isn't to bad off either.I was just surprised that Hoshino was well enough to get back to the series. Just read the new chapter and...was mostly lost since it's been about three years since I last looked at Chapter 218. XD Still, I picked up on the fact that the Millennium Earl was hellbent on looking for Allen because they were once one and the same.
I watched the anime then picked up the manga where it left off. One of the main problems with the anime however is the pacing for the first season which is the only one dubbed. It picks up after about 50 episodes though and it gets a whole lot interesting.Would anyone recommend reading over watching?

Oh my God. Just end it, please just end it. I am saying this in the most positive way I can as well, I love D. Gray Man, it is one of my favorites, and I had honestly given up all hope on it ever having a proper ending. Please, before you get sick again (although I truly hope that doesn't happen), PLEASE JUST GIVE ME AN ENDING!!!!
I enjoyed this series enough that I think I'll start reading it again from scratch now that it's finally been picked up again <3 This and Black Lagoon, those God damn hiatuses kill me.
I pretty much feel the same way. If the series were to end soon there would be too many questions left unanswered and the fact that these questions need to be answered shows how interesting the series is. I feel we are nowhere near the end of the series and I'd rather Hoshino keep to her vision of the story instead of compromising it. Of course her health is more important than anything but if she wants to keep the story going then I don't care how many times it goes on hiatus. Now though, there are a different set of questions that arise. I think that there'd be no way to end this series early to halt the random hiatuses without compromising the story telling. There are so many aspects of other characters like Lavi (Rabi?), Leenali (Rinali? translation woes), Chouji, Marian Cross, etc that have been left totally open-ended, not to mention characters we really never were able to get a feel for like the other Cardinals, Generals, and half of the Noahs.
I feel like even though we're over 200 chapters in, we might not have covered even half of the whole the story and that Katsura Hoshino is just force feeding us info on the Earl, Mana, etc without addressing all the issues I previously listed. Hopefully she's ok now and can salvage this manga and restore it to its former glory because I really love it.
