Congratulations, Colorado. Quite funny though how more and more countries are legalizing marijuana, and here they're trying to get rid of all the shops selling it.

I'm curious as to how this will turn out.

My jurisdiction considered legalizing or medicating it. They ended up with neither and just amended the law to state that, instead of prison, they get a fine. We have a $80 billion debt and, if they had legalized it, tax revenues would have paid that debt in less than 5 years. Sadly, politicians have their greedy hands everywhere.

This change doesn't eliminate the existence of cops but may, hopefully, minutely mitigate the {racist} prison industrial complex, of which cannabis is a potent component of. At least to the extent of aiding a few lives, though producing its own complications...

Here in Canada, the Harper government's rigid on such laws. It's a shame, considering with how much of the lot we have. Potential global sales and profit, safe production and dispensation, the subversion of revenue towards illegal operators (the two points tied together: violence), the creation of occupations, tax revenue (to, ideally, go towards urban issues in particular), the decrease of wasted resources, police brutality, etc. These are just some of the possible, positive, outcomes of a well-executed legalization, with appropriate laws of usage accompanying them as well. Hopefully Febreeze sales would increase as well.
