There were so many of them. The sheer numbers where far too much for his brain to comprehend, all he knew was that there were so many of them, and only one of him. The figure leaned heavily against the door as he heard footsteps pass behind him. He was inside of an everyday modern home, and the news was on the television set. Thankfully, the volume was low enough to avoid drawing attention, but images still flickered through. Images of cities overruled by them caught his eye. Was he the only one in this small town? Things were far from what one would call 'easy', but his kind has proven themselves to be victorious on TV and movies, right? This was something he would be able to do. More footsteps caught his attention and there was a powerful knock at the door. They were already on to him, and there were too many to take head on. He instead quietly made his way to the basement; there was another exit through there the family had carved out that he could use as a means of escape if they followed him. Just as he reached the bottom of the stairs, he heard the front door burst open, and cries and shouts loudly overtook the entire house as he passed through the basement door. He heard them run up the stairs, searching for him as he slipped into the darkness, towards the second door. Loud footsteps pounded the stairs as they followed him. He noticed bright behind him, and knew he would have to face them. He turned around sharply and charged head first towards them. Gunfire filled the air as he was struck down. The swat team leader scanned the room with his flashlight, checking every corner.
“Clear.” He said into his radio. He pointed at the door and three of his men ran towards the second exit, noting that nothing had escaped through it.
“Upstairs is clear.” Another swat member crackled through his radio. “We're still looking into the other nearby houses, but it looks like that was the only one.”
“Good.” The swat leader said. “Let's keep this quiet. Last thing we need is the media going nuts about a 'zombie' popping up here.”
“How did this even happen?” One of the squad members asked.
“That's Doctor Fletch.” He answered, pointing his rifle at the destroyed corpse. “He's a scientist with a lab hidden away passed that door. His family called in, saying he was doing some experiments with different organic compounds. This morning the wife woke up and found Fletch missing, and his lab door was tightly closed. When she managed to pry it open, this,” He jabbed the mutilated body with the barrel of his gun,” was inside.
“What happened to him?”
“Do I look like a freakin' scientist? He turned into a zombie or something, who cares. So long as this shit doesn't spread, no one needs to know about it.”
“So that's it?”
“What do you mean?”
“He was a zombie, but he didn't really put up much of a fight. Hell, we just stopped the apocalypse.” The squad leader sighed.
“This isn't a movie.” He answered. “We aren't stupid enough to take any chances with madmen in real life. A zombie apocalypse has less of a chance of happening then a nuclear apocalypse.”
“That's...surprisingly dull.”
“Yeah well, that's life.”

I crouched down, toning myself for the starting impact. I waited for myself to calm down, then shot off like a rocket. It was just me, but that's all that I needed. I ran around the track as I felt my feet pound the floor below. The music in my MP3 gave me more strength than usual as I picked up the pace. Right left right left, Boom boom boom. Keep it going, we can break this record. I felt my muscles begin to ache after the second lap, but did my best to ignore it. Come on boy, you're better than this. Push yourself, you can do this. I kept going. Surely I could keep this up, just a little longer now. How many laps have I passed? I couldn't remember, but I could feel sweat begin to line down my face. No stopping now, I knew that if I stopped I would not be able to keep going. Just 'resting' was an excuse to stop running, and that was the last thing in the world I would allow myself to do. Not much farther now, I don't think. I ran passed the starting line again. Lap....seven? God I don't even remember. My legs strained against the tension, but I kept going. Do it for them. I had to keep going. I found myself staring at my feet, and forced myself to look up straight. Once you start looking down, you lose your breath more easily, and that meant you lose your focus on the task at hand. A sudden pain flowed through my chest; I had hit The Wall. I had to push passed it, there was no way I was going to stop now. Keep it up, you can do this. I did my best to keep my pace, but found myself slowing down slightly. Damn it, come on come on. My wheezing breaths were left behind as I forced myself to keep going. My calves were on fire, and they felt as if they were going to disengage from my body, quitting the job outright. Thankfully that didn't happen, and as I passed the starting point for the ninth time, I gained my second wind. I've got this. All I had to do was keep going; this was, in fact, the home stretch. Just gotta keep it up. I turned left, following the track as I did my best to breath through my nose and out from my mouth, just like I was taught ages ago. I was so very close. Please don't trip, that would suck. As I rounded the last corner, I pushed myself again, putting everything I had into one last rush down. Running on fumes, I ran towards the goal and passed through it with my arms in the air in victory. I quickly looked at my watch. Ten seconds to spare. I had done it.

"Haley?"
"Oh hey John. It's great to see you again!" She lied.
"Look,I know you don't want to see me because of everything that happened, but that's all in the past now."
She turned her head. "John....."
"Yeah I understand..."
"I'm sorry but.... I can't do this!"
Haley ran out of the school crying her heart out.Out of all the people she ran into so far,why did he have to be one of them? She wasn't prepared to go through this again. Not yet.
The next day, when she arrived at her college again, she saw the one person she never expected to see,John.....Haley walked up to him and confronted him.
"What the hell? What are you doing here?!Are you stalking me now?!Are you some kind of sicko?!What is wrong with you?You need to let go!"
John gritted his teeth nervously and said quietly to Haley,"You're making a scene....I'm not stalking you,I attend this college and just so you know I did let go.The real question is,did you?"
John shook his head as he walked in the building.Everyone was staring.Haley turned and walked in the building after him.She soon caught up with him.
"Sorry about that back there..." Haley said.
"No,no.I should be the one apologizing. It broke my heart when I saw you crying after I dumped you like that.I didn't know it'd turn out like how it did but we were having problems."
"Yeah I know,it was high school, one of the opportunities for trial and error." Haley added.
"Mhm, at our reunion I was just wondering if you wanted to start over..."
"You mean dating?"
"That'd be nice.Look Haley,I really like you and I want us to start over...So what do you say?"
"......Sure."
"Really?"That's great!So when do we start?"John asked.
"Now." Haley said as she grabbed John's hand and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
The following day,John had a surprise for Haley.A diamond ring.It wasn't for a proposal it was just to give it to her. When he did,she was surprised. She said how she's not ready for marriage but he insisted that he doesn't want get married, that's its just for her to keep. She began asking questions like where'd you get it and how much it and how did you ever afford this. All he said was that he got it for free. She asked how and he said he took it.
"You stole this?!" She said quietly.
"Stealing is such a strong word, basically took it without permission is how I see it."
"Soooo stealing.....?"
"Sums it up."
"I can't accept this then...We have to return it." Haley said.
"What?!I can't get arrested!"
"You won't,we'll find another way."
When they arrived at the Jewelry-Store,Haley began talking to John, "Okay here the plan, we have to frame someone else." Haley explained.
"You have the price-tag?" Haley asked.
"Yup,here it is." John said pulling it out.
"Okay lets go." Haley said.
As they entered they saw a woman greet them. The immediately held hands to look like a married couple looking for a ring.
"We're just looking around." Haley told the woman.
"Okay, thanks for choosing us!" She said.
Haley and John saw an old couple with bag and unsuspectingly walked past them and dropped the ring with the rip-off price-tag in their bag.As the couple were about to leave, the sirens began to go off.The officer walked up to them and arrested the married couple.
As John and Haley were walking back into the car,Haley thought to herself, "How can I help it?I've fallen in love with a criminal!" She thought smiling.
Spoiler ShowWhat's my most treasured memories? Easy.
It was all of those times with you.
I know we weren't the greatest of friends at first... You weren't really nice to me at all; you had to, even though you didn't want to. I always had that feeling that you didn't care, but something changed, I guess. You started caring. You closed that distance, apologizing for your own mistakes and trying to start anew.
It worked. It definitely did.
I just wish I saw that a lot sooner. I wish we could've been closer friends much sooner. After everything I learned, after everything I saw, I realized that all I needed was in front of me already.
My home... my family... Everything. What I had been searching for this whole time was always there.
But I messed up.
I'm... sorry. I couldn't keep you safe. I'm sorry I messed up... I'm so sorry...

She tried but she struggled to maintain her balance without moving around too much.
"Hmm.We'll have to work on a couple of those. You seem to be struggling a bit.Let's put another hour into it?"
"If that's what it takes." Abigail said.
After another hour,Abigail began making a little more progress that she thought she would ever make in a week.
"Practice can go a long way.I want you to practice the moves without skates everyday when we aren't practicing."
When Abigail got home, she apologized to her mom about not speaking to her the another night when she got home from the party. She told her she just had a lot on her mind that day.She went upstairs to see that Stella just messaged her about last night. She began responding.
"Its okay,Jason is teaching me how to ice skate. He said I was unnatural."
"That's great.When's the audition?"
"3 days starting tomorrow"
"Are you sure you can do this in 3 days?"
"You can do anything if you have the right attitude."
"Abigail,I don't want you to get your hopes up too high. You need to remember there will be professionals out there."
"Yeah I know,Thanks Stella."

Abigail put her phone down and began practicing. She began thinking about how she might actually have a chance out there on that ice rink. She tried not to think of all the professionals that would be out there too.If she was going to have any shot, she'd have to practice hard non-stop until she could do those moves good and right. She practiced for hours but she couldn't do the air spin. She gave it a rest and finally called it a night.
The following day,Abigail met up with Jason at the same rink as yesterday and she began practicing the final air spin move over and over again. When she finally got it right,it was time for he to do it all.She started off pretty well but ended up messing it up in the end.
"You'll get it Abigail, you just have to keep trying."
"I know,I know.Its just...what if I don't win...." Abigail said.
"......" Jason didn't answer.
Abigail looked to ground and didn't speak for a brief moment. She got up and kept practicing for the hours to come.Even when she did get it,she didn't stop until Jason said, "You should get some rest."
She turned to him.
"Okay."
She began heading home.Tomorrow was the last day for practice, then the audition, and finally graduation.Abigail thought of it being so much to do but not enough time. She practiced before she went to bed.She had a few big things for the next couple of days. She needed a lot of rest.
The final day,she met with Jason at the rink.Abigail trained until Jason interrupted, "Okay that's enough. Now lets have some fun!"
Jason grabbed Abigail hands and spun around with her on the rink.Abigail started to laugh. She then spun and did a back-flip in mid air and stuck the landing.
"Whoa,Abigail...."
"I didn't know I could do that!" Abigail smiled.
"You're ready." He smiled.
On the day of the audition, her mom drove her there. The place was packed. There were a lot of car and people in line outside.Next to them stood a door for contestants and guests only. They entered to see many of the other contestants and their families.Abigail looked around.
"Where's Jason?" She asked.
From behind her,he walked up and covered her eyes with his hands. She turned around and there he was.He had a tie and ice skates on.
"How come have skates on?" Abigail asked.
"The judges were kind enough to let me test out the rink." He explained.
"Who's this? The mom asked.
"Oh,this is Jason...We're going out...." Abigail said nervously.
"Abigail,I'm very disappointed in you......that you didn't tell me sooner. She smiled. "Now lets go get you dressed up honey."
Abigail wore a black dress with her blond hair in a Crown Braid style. She walked out to see contestants coming back down from the rising pedestal underneath the rink crying and rushing out the door.Stella came in after they ran out wondering what was going on.She walked up to Abigail and said,
"You look beautiful.Good luck out there."
"Thanks." She replied.
When it was time for her to step on the circular ice pedestal to rise he up onto the rink, she turned to Jason, grabbed both of his hands and smiled excitedly, "Lets go!"
"What?"
"Come on!Lets go.Both of us!It'll be great!"She said as she pulled him on.
There was no stepping off now.
"What do we do?" Jason asked.
"Improvise!" Abigail smiled.
When they finally reached the top, they were surrounded by a large audience and 5 judges.Jason started it of by grabbing her hand and skated around the ink.Halfway around, she let go and spun directly across until she reached the wall and put he foot on it,then leaped in midair to do a full back-flip.She was met immediately with Jason after this who did a one-hand-stick-the-landing-front-flip.The two then separated to do a series of moves and then met back at the center to do the finishing move. They held hands, to do a 360 spinning back-flip and stuck the landing.
The crowd went crazy.Everyone was smiling and cheering for them as they bowed in the center as the pedestal took them down where they saw Stella and Abigail's mom waiting for them.
"You guys did great!" Stella said hugging both of them.
They turned to see the judges talking on the screen.
"Well,I think we know who our winners are...." One judge said passing the envelope to another.
"Abigail and Jason!!!!"
"We won..." Abigail said.
"We won!!!!" Jason said picking Abigail up and spinning her around.

Spoiler ShowHeart…What?
The Winchester brothers had had a hell of a long day; truth be told, it had been one hell of a long week. Sam and Dean had first been called to the small Tennessee town because of reported sightings of a Black Shuck, a large, ebony colored ghost dog, that had been seen numerous times along the same stretch of highway that had then followed at least five people home, and reportedly mauled three of these to death.
After three days of tracking, the brothers had found the black dog, alright. The beast had immediately leapt at the two of them, using its massive size to try to overwhelm Sam. Dean shot the thing full of rock salt, causing the dog to momentarily roll off of Sammy, but the salt just seemed to infuriate the ghost. It turned its sight on Dean, a vicious snarl rumbling in its chest, and made to jump at him; however, it disappeared midleap, the crack of a gun echoing in the trails of ghostly wisps that were left behind, the silver bullet that had killed it coming to rest on the ground.
“Well,” Sam said, tucking the gun loaded with silver back into its holster, “That takes care of that. You okay?”
Dean hauled himself around where the Shuck had last stood, the shine of adrenaline slowly fading from his eyes. “Like a little black dog’s gonna slow me down? I’m fine. Beats fighting demons all the time.”
“No kidding,” was the only reply Sam had for Dean as the two of them walked away down the highway.
That had been three days ago; the main reason they were still in town was because they’d decided they’d earned some much needed R&R. Sam and Dean had been just about ready to pull out of the small town for good though when the soft rustle of feathers caused the brothers to turn around. A wry smile twisting at his mouth, Dean snarked, “So, what brings you here this time, Cas? Out of minutes?”
The angel just looked at the two brothers, just the slightest hint of bemusement in his intense stare. Tilting his head ever so slightly to the side, Cas said flatly, “No.”
After a couple minutes of silence, during which the angel didn’t expand any further, Dean rolled his eyes before saying, “Cas, what have I told you before? Remember to blink now and then, man; you’ll weird people out if you don’t. Now, why are you here? Don’t tell me those demons are up to monkey business again. I’ve still got sulfur from the last time stuck in crevices that you don’t wanna know about.”
Sam shot Dean a quick look, but Cas started talking, cutting off the younger Winchester as the angel said, “It’s not the demons. Not exactly, in any case; they’ve actually been rather quiet in the last few weeks.”
Dean threw up his hands, a mock celebratory tone in his voice as he crowed, “Well, thank God or whatever higher power there be for small miracles. Now, if it’s not demons, why would you be here, Mr. Angel of the Lord?”
“There’s a disturbance in the energy pattern of late, centered around this town. Furthermore, there have been reports of people falling into a coma like state, only for doctors to discover that these victims have lost their hearts in some way…”
It was Dean’s turn to cut across Cas. Holding up his hands, the man quieted the angel as Dean burst out, “Wait, what? These folks are landing in the hospital with a case of lost hearts? Shouldn’t they be dead?”
“They are,” Cas said, acting as if Dean’s interruption were insignificant. “However, that’s only with the few who actually make it to the hospital. For the most part, the bodies dissolve into pools of darkness.”
Finally getting the chance to get a word in, Sam said, “Does this sound like anything you’ve run into Cas? Some kind of demon magic, maybe?”
Cas shook his head, and a hint of frustration crept into his voice as he replied, “No, it’s not. This isn’t any kind of demon magic I’ve heard of, and none of the other angels have encountered it before either. I had been hoping you knew something about it, but it’s clear now that we are all in the dark…”
“Look out!”
Dean and Cas both dove out of the way just in time because of the barked warning from Sam. Looking over his shoulder, Dean saw the strangest creature of his life crouched where he’d just been standing. It was almost human looking, hunched over and scanning the floor of the hotel room like it was looking for something. But something was way off about it to. For one thing, the creature was pitch black, with deep blue veins running along the sides of its head, and long, jagged antenna swept from just behind its eyes nearly to the floor. And those eyes, what the hell was with the eyes? They were a bright, luminous yellow, a dead look reflected in them. They were absolutely flat, blank of everything except one thing.
Hunger.
The creature turned its head to watch Dean as the Hunter scrambled to his feet, his hands scrabbling along the table for the first thing he could reach. Feeling the flask that he and Sam kept the Holy Water in, Dean lashed out, whipping the flask in front of him and soaking the thing.
The beast blinked, those bulbous yellow eyes disappearing into pure blackness for a moment before returning. It cocked its head to the side, an almost perplexed look on its face, then it hunkered down close to the floor. Dean swore under his breath as the Holy Water rolled right off it. “Not a demon…”
The beast jumped, pouncing on Dean. He heard Sammy give a hoarse shout, and Dean could just see that another one had jumped at Sam, pinning the other Winchester to the floor. Cas was fairing slightly better than the two Hunters, but as more of these things started rising up out of the floor, Dean just knew it’d be a matter of time before they overwhelmed even the angel.
“Dark firaga!”
A blast of searing heat filled the room, lifting the monster off of Dean before slamming it against the wall. Not one to waste a moment, Dean rolled onto his belly and leapt to his feet, his hands finding a shotgun this time. Leveling the weapon, Dean shot the beast that had Sam pinned to the ground; a discordant hiss issued from the thing as it rolled off Sam, allowing the other Hunter to his feet. Dean spun around, only just noting two more bodies that had entered into the fray, but he didn’t have time to think about that right now. Dean just kept firing into the fray, taking shot after shot at the six creatures that had showed up in the room.
After a fifteen minute session that seemed to last hours, the beasts were gone. Heaving a huge breath, Dean took a quick assessment of damages. Surprisingly enough, there was just about nothing left of the strange black beasts. Just a few spots of dark ichor here and there were the only traces left of the yellow eyed monsters. Sammy seemed to be okay, even if slightly scratched up from the surprise attack. Even more surprising was the scratch that crossed over Cas’ nose and under his left eye. Those things had actually managed to hurt the angel? Whistling softly under his breath, Dean huffed, “What the hell were those things?”
“They were Heartless. Neoshadows, if you want to name their type.”
Dean’s attention landed at last on their guests, and he was surprised to see that there were two boys standing in the room with them. One of them was about Dean’s height, with spiky brunette hair and bright blue eyes. The other one was very tall, only a hair’s breadth shorter than Sammy, but that wasn’t the strange thing. This kid had freaking silver hair! He had unusually light blue eyes too, eyes that were about the same color as a shallow tide pool, but that hair! On a teenager?
A quirk of the lips tugged the boy’s mouth into a grin as he watched Dean struggle for words. Pointing to himself, the boy said, “My name’s Riku. And this is Sora. We’re trying to figure out how the Heartless got through from our world to yours. It doesn’t seem like the Keyhole’s unlocked, but…”
Gulping air, Dean finally managed to stop his open mouthed fish act. Casting a quick look in Cas’ direction, Dean was faintly shocked to see that the angel, usually a very unflappable man, has a completely flabbergasted look on his face, something Dean would have found amusing under normal circumstances.
This situation was far from normal, even for them.
But still, this kid, Riku, had brought up a few things that Dean was having a little trouble wrapping his head around. Getting the boy’s attention, Dean said, “I’m sorry, but what are you saying? Keyholes? Our world? Your world? Heart-what’s its?” It wasn’t like trying to remember the word Heartless was difficult or anything, it was just that Dean had just about reached his considerably high threshold for “what the hell is this shit” for the day, and it was only 10 in the morning.
Sora spoke up, a placating tone in his voice as he said, “Look, I know this is a lot to take in, but just try to keep an open mind, okay? We just want to make sure the heart of this world is safe from the Heartless, and then Riku and I’ll split, and you won’t have to deal with this again.”
The look on Sora’s face said quite clearly that he could tell he hadn’t gotten through to Dean. However, Riku had this little grin on his face as he studied Sam, Dean, and Cas, and Dean could just see the boy figuring things out as he said wryly, “Like Sora said, this is a lot to take in, but it’s not like you guys don’t deal with weird shit on a daily basis. Or am I wrong on that one?”
Sam was the one that recovered first. Studying the two boys, the younger Winchester said, “Just what are these Heartless after?”
“The answer is in the name,” Sora said, a grim expression thinning his mouth to a hard line. “They want the hearts of people, but most of all, they want the heart of your world. And they won’t stop until they get it.”
Thinking back to what Cas had said about the victims of apparent heart theft, Dean said, “Nothing’ll stop them?”
Riku shook his head, saying shortly, “Nothing except locking the Keyhole. That’s why we need to find it.”
Sam was watching the two of them, an unreadable look on his face as he tried to puzzle things out. Looking between Sora and Riku, Sam asked, “And how are we supposed to seal this ‘Keyhole’?”
“With this.” As Riku spoke, he and Sora both held their right hands up. Twin flashes of light burst into life, one bright white and the other a soft blue-black. Blinking back spots, Dean saw that both of the boys now held some of the strangest swords he’d ever seen in their grip. Surprise on his face once again, Dean blurted, “What the hell are those things?”
Raising his blade a little higher so Sam and Cas could get a better look at it, Riku replied, “This is called a Keyblade, and it’s the only thing that can seal the Keyhole and stop the Heartless.”

Sora felt a cold chill run down his spine as turned to look at this dying world.
"Where are we?" Sora asked.
Donald and Goofy shrugged.Neither of them had any idea when suddenly a rose colored woman walked up to them and said, "Hey.You seem lost."
"Pretty much.Do you know where we are?"
"You mean you don't know?" The woman questioned.
"Not a clue...."
"Novus Chrysalia."
"Oh thanks."
"The name's Lightning." She said in a bland voice.
"Well I'm Sora,that's Donald,and this is Goofy.
"Goofy?"
"That's the name.
Lightning began talking to Hope.
"Hope,I think something is wrong with them...I can't collect the boy's soul nor do the other two look like Chaos or Moogles.
"Well they definitely aren't Divine, that's for sure.Perhaps they aren't from this world at all.I'll try to look into it." Hope said.
Okay Hope, hurry.I'm not too sure about these g-....."
"Can you explain this place to us?Have you seen any Heartless?" Sora interrupted.
"You seem as if you aren't from this world..." Lightning said.
"Uh..um..."
"Lightning,I can't find anything on them. You'll have to find another way." Hope said.
"Okay Hope,I'll try."
"Lighting?" Sora asked.
"Okay.I can't tell you everything, then we'll be here all day and I can't afford that.Me and a group,we became Pulse L'Cie,an enemy of our world,Cocoon. When you become a Pulse L'Cie,you are given a Focus. Our Focus was to save Cocoon. After you complete your Focus, you turn into crystal and gain eternal life.We tried to fight the fate of the gods.In the end of that journey,we succeeded, temporarily. It was the start of another. We turned into crystal, but Etro, the Goddess of Death and Chaos, saw mercy upon us and released us from our crystal form.By doing so,this caused distortions in time and the chaos emerge from Gran Pulse, the world that Cocoon over and drew me to Valhalla.I see that Etro is greatly weakened but she is still managing to hold the Chaos back for now.As kneel before her throne, she reveals she originally hated me and my group for all the deaths that we caused at a L'Cie.She shows me her love and compassion over mankind.I chose to fight.I would stand guard over her legacy. But in the end,we thought we won but we failed. The goddess died along with my sister,Serah. When the goddess dies, the Chaos of Valhalla is unleashed. The Chaos have the power to warp the timeline and destroy the past.Because of Etro's death, no new people can be born and none can age. This is all leading up to God, Bhunivelze, he intends to make a new world.A world without chaos. It is my job as savior to collect souls so they can be guided to the new world. He said if I do this,he will bring back my sister, Serah. If that's what it took to bring her back,I was ready to become God's personal servant."
"Ah,I see.So is there anything we can help you do?" Sora asked.
".....Help me get my sister back...Help me save souls so they can be guided to the new world God is planning to build. We only have a few days, then this world will end and we'll be put on the new one." Lightning said.
"Well when do we start?" Sora asked.
"Now..." She said as she walked off. "We need to break into that palace when the performance show opens. An old friend in the needs saving. For now, I need to head to the ark."
"The ark?Are we able to come?" Sora asked.
"Hope?" Lighting asked.
"Seeing as they don't apply to the rules of this world,I guess so." He answered.
"Okay guys, stand still." Lightning said as they were transported to the ark. "Here, all time ceases to flow."
"Hmm,I see.So why'd we come here?" Sora questioned.
"To harvest my Eradia to prevent the day of destruction for a limited time.Okay, lets go."
They headed back down to the world below to see the streets sweeping with Chaos as if it were the final day and the world was about to end.
"No,no, no!It's too early! Lightning yelled.
"Lightning! The destruction is happening sooner than I thought. You need to save Snow!He is the last one." Hope told Lighting.
"God dammit Hope! How do I get there?!" She yelled.
"You need a lift?" Sora said as he transformed his keyblade into a glider.
"What th-..."
"Hop on!" Sora said after Donald and Goofy jumped on it.
"If you say so..." Lightning said as Sora pulled her on.
"Where to?" Sora asked.
"That palace over there." Lightning pointed.
When they arrived, they had to fight their way through Chaos and The Order. The Order pleaded Lightning not to go in there but she had to do it.She had to it for Snow.If she couldn't be there for Serah,Snow had to.
As they entered, they could hear loud screams and shouting.Lightning presumed this was be Snow.As they were heading towards Snow, they came across one of The Order's Soldiers. He talked about how he was against The Order and why this got out of control and that the savior must fix it.
They finally reached Snow and he was on the verge of becoming a L'Cie. Lightning found Serah's pendant and use it to open the ice shut door.Lightning turned to Sora and said, "Thank you for your help, but this is my fight now."
"Are you sure you can do it?" Sora asked.
"It's not a question of can or can't.There are some things you just do." Lightning smiled.
Spoiler ShowClementine followed Daryl through the woods until Daryl held up his hand in a signal for her to stop. He lifted his crossbow and steadied his aim. His target was a deer they’d been following for a while now. Daryl was great at hunting and tracking, two skills Clementine never learned. She didn’t suppose many girls her age did anyway, but she watched Daryl closely as she tried to learn this new skill of survival. After a moment, Daryl shot a bolt right into the deer and it scurried away through the woods.
“It’s getting away!” Clem loudly whispered to Daryl.
“Don’t worry; it’s all part of the hunt. We’ll follow its tracks and catch up to it in no time.” Daryl began making his way through the woods again and Clementine stayed close on his heels.
“So, what are its tracks anyway?”
“You know, where it might leave some footprints and whatnot, or if some spore is laying around then you know it’s been there.”
“What’s spore?”
“You know… Deer shit.”
“Oh. Gross…” Clementine examined the ground they walked on. Daryl seemed to be able to find which way they needed to go quite easily, but she just couldn’t seem to find any of these tracks before he was ready to move on. She didn’t want to ask him to stop and show her though, because she really didn’t want their dinner to get away.
“See this?” Daryl asked as he pointed to some fresh blood on a tree stump. He waited for her to nod her head before he proceeded, “This more than likely means our deer has been here. It’s bleedin’ out, which is good news for us. Come on, let’s get this thing.”
Before long, the duo had caught back up to their deer friend and Daryl put another bolt in it. It tried to get away again, but this time it didn’t get far before it dropped to the ground.

Daryl and Clementine were sitting close to their small fire while they ate the parts of the deer Daryl could cook. Clementine shivered at the crisp night air and stuck her hands closer to the fire.
“Can we make it any bigger?” Clementine asked Daryl with a shiver in her voice.
“Sorry, no can do. We don’t want to attract any unwanted attention,” Daryl said as he chewed his food. Daryl was a tough looking man. He wore his brown hair short and sported some scruff on his face, and he wore a button up shirt with the sleeves ripped off. His shirt was covered by a black leather vest with angel wings on that back that Clementine couldn’t help but think were cool.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
Daryl could hear the disappointment in Clementine’s voice and decided to try and get her mind off of the cold. “So, you were looking for some people when I met you at the crossroads, right? How exactly did you get split up?”
“There was a hoard of walkers all around us in the city. We tried to stay together as we attempted to get out of there, but things just kind of happened and we got separated. I couldn’t go back in there to look for them, so I figured that maybe I would just find them at the next town.” Clementine gazed at the fire as she wondered if her friends were okay.
“So these people, what are they like? You been travelling with them long?”
“Yeah, we’ve been together for a little while. Their names are Christa and Omid. Omid is funny, he always makes us laugh. And Christa’s the one that just tries to keep us on track and keep us going. She’s pregnant right now, and we’re pretty excited for the baby. But it’s also kind of scary… We used to be in a bigger group. There was Kenny and Ben, and Lee too. But they all…”
“It’s alright, you don’t have to talk about it,” Daryl said from across the fire. Clementine nodded her head and adjusted the baseball cap on her head. She was a small girl of only eleven, and she kept her hair cut short for her own safety, the advice of her old friend Lee. Lee took care of her after he found her at her parent’s house all alone, but after everything that happened in Savannah the only remaining members of their small group were Christa, Omid, and herself. Now she had been separated from them as well, but she was determined to find them again.
“Um, Daryl. So where are you going? Why are you alone?” She was curious about him, but had been hesitant to ask him any questions about himself until now.
“Well, when all of this started, I was out hunting with my dad and a couple of his buddies. But then the biters, they just came out of nowhere. They popped up from all over the place throughout the woods and they basically devoured him before any of us could stop it. After that, I went to look for my brother Merle. I eventually found him, drunk off his ass, and we stayed together for a little while until we got to Barksdale. Merle was quiet about wanting to go there, and I eventually found out it was to settle some score with his old gang and to grab some of his drugs. Dumbass… After a blowout with the gang, he and I got separated and I’ve been trying to track him down ever since. He’s an idiot, but he’s blood.” As Daryl finished he held his crossbow in one hand and poked at the fire with a stick in the other.
“Well, I really hope you find your brother,” Clementine said to Daryl. “Family should stay together, especially in a time like this. I tried finding my Mom and Dad, but they had already turned…”
“Looks like we’re a couple of orphans… You’re a tough kid, you know that? We can watch each other’s backs for a while until you find your friends, and I’ll try to teach you more about tracking.”
“I’d like that,” Clementine said as she got a smile on her face.
“Well good. Hey, you’d better get some rest. I’ll go ahead and take the first shift to make sure nothing sinks its teeth into us.
“But what about you?”
“You can keep a lookout while I sleep after, deal?”
“Deal!” Clem took off her at and laid down on her side in the dirt, letting herself drift away into sleep.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two had been together for about a week now, and it had become a morning routine for Clementine to try and follow some tracks in the woods. Daryl had taught her which tracks were animal tracks, and which tracks were human tracks. She needed to avoid human tracks, because those most likely lead to stray walkers. The woods had begun to become one of the safest forms of travel, because if they found human tracks, they just had to make sure they avoided them to stay in the clear most of the time.
Daryl and Clementine were just exiting some woods outside of a small town. Daryl began his routine of creeping around the corners of buildings while Clementine watched his back with a small hatchet. When outside looked mostly clear, he opened the screen door of a house and made his way inside.
“I’ll check upstairs, you check things out down here,” Daryl whispered. He began to quietly proceed up the steps while Clem headed to the living room. This house looked to her like it had been abandoned in a hurry. A lot of stuff was still here, including pictures and whatnot. The living room attached to the kitchen, and she opened the cupboards to find different cereals and crackers. Without hesitation, she opened up the box of Berry Crunch and stuffed some the sugary cereal into her mouth. She thanked God scavengers hadn’t hit this house yet, and wondered for a moment if Daryl had ever eaten Berry Crunch.
Clementine was then startled by the sound of glass breaking upstairs and ran back through the living room and to the steps to try and help Daryl. She tripped as she tried to make her way upstairs too quickly, but never stopped moving on her way to make sure her friend was okay. Upon reaching the top of the steps, a walker greeted her with a hiss and arms spread wide.
Clem stumbled backwards to avoid becoming this thing’s next meal and fell down the steps. The walker stumbled down the steps as well and landed right on top of her. She could smell its rotting breath as it opened and shut its jaw over and over in an attempt to get a juicy bite. Saliva dripped from its mouth and onto Clem’s face. She cringed as she tried holding it away with her left arm, her right trying to get a good grip on the hatchet. She couldn’t hold it off much longer, and let out a grunt as she swung at its head. The hatchet sunk deep and blood dripped down out of its skull. Clementine pushed the body off of her and struggled to get the hatchet back.
After tugging and pulling on the hatchet that seemed to be buried in this thing’s head, Clem fell back to her butt when the weapon finally slid free. She wiped the nasty drool off of her face and looked up the steps to see Daryl quickly making his way down.
“Glad to see you were able to handle things down here,” Daryl said as he patted Clem on the shoulder. “Sorry I couldn’t help, there was basically a family of those things up there.” Daryl made his way to the living room window and peeked outside through the curtain.
“What are you looking at?”
“Did you not hear that ruckus outside? Some bimbo was racing through town in a car and crashed into a tree. Yep, he’s walker meat alright…”
Clementine made her way to the window and looked out to see dozens of walkers roaming around, several of them tearing out this man’s insides. The man no longer seemed to be conscious, and Clementine found herself a bit saddened by this.
“I think that car will still run if we can get to it,” Daryl said as he examined the area from a different window. “This town has way more of these things in it than I thought, we’re going to need a distraction…”
“Do you have a plan?” Clementine asked as she looked over to her companion.
“Yeah, I’ve got a plan.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clementine had made her way outside through the back door and came around to a chain link fence that surrounded the backyard. There was a gate blocking her off from the front yard, and she had a perfect view of the road from here.
“Hey you ugly son of a bitch, I’m up here!” She could hear Daryl calling out from the upstairs window drawing the attention of some of the walkers out front. She heard shattering as she watched him throw China plates down into the road. Whoever used to live here would probably be appalled, but that didn’t matter anymore.
As Daryl screamed and cursed, all of the walkers started coming towards the front of the house. Now it was her turn. “Hey! I’m over here!” She screamed as she smacked the head of her hatchet over the chain link fence over and over again. A large portion of the group started making their way towards her, and she opened up the gate. “Yeah, come on, I’m over here!”
Clementine ran into the house through the back door just as many of them started getting too close for comfort, and then she looked through the window to see Daryl landing in the front yard from the upper window. He had a couple walkers to take on still. He shot one in the head with his crossbow, and stabbed another in the face with a knife. A couple more started coming at him and Clementine hurried out the front door to help. She landed a solid hit into one’s head with her hatchet but she wasn’t able to get it out in time before another one came at her. Before it could actually reach her, Daryl jammed his knife through the back of its head and it dropped down cold.
“Clem, go see if you can get that car started, I’ve gotta close this gate!”
Clementine stood up and rushed towards the car. A couple of stray walkers wandered about and looked her direction, but she was still faster than them. She made it to the car and climbed inside, frantically turning the key to try and get it going. “Come on, please…” As she looked around to see walkers coming her way due to the sound of the engine revving up, she locked all of the doors and made sure the windows were up.
Daryl raced for the fence gate as fast as he could. He knew he had to get it closed before all of the walkers trapped in the back yard were attracted to the car again. A couple walkers behind the fence noticed him before he got there and started clawing through the air as they moved through the gate towards him. “I don’t think so!” Daryl kicked one in the stomach knocking it into another and they both fell to the ground back in the fence. Daryl stabbed the third one in the head and slammed the gate door shut as the other walkers started coming his way. He watched through the fence as they all attempted to get through to him. They wanted to devour him like the man from the car, but he would never let that happen. Not to Daryl Dixon, not like his father. The fence started bowing as the weight of all the biters pushed against the fence, and Daryl knew it was time to go.
He started running towards the car, which he had just heard finally turn on. Clem had got it working; now it was just a matter of them getting out of here. A walker quickly approached Daryl from the direction of the car, and he took a clean shot into its head with his bow. He reached down and yanked the bolt out of the dead walker’s head as he finally made it to the car.
He pulled on the handle to no avail. “Let me in Clem!” He looked around at the slowly surrounding walkers, the fence behind him finally giving in.
“I locked the doors, and now they won’t unlock! The windows won’t go down either!” Daryl looked around real quick and then directed his attention back to her.
“Clem, get in the passenger’s seat and cover your face!”
Without a moment’s hesitation Clementine moved and Daryl smashed the driver’s seat window in with the butt of his bow. Glass shattered everywhere and Clementine could feel little shards sprinkle on her arms and her side. Daryl hopped in and threw the car in reverse, backing it into a nearby walker. Once he shifted it into drive, he floored it and drove right on down the road.
“Whoo! Now let’s get the hell out of dodge, what do you say?” Daryl glanced over at Clementine to see her staring out the window at each walker they drove past.
“Yeah, let’s get out of here.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two made it out of town and had been driving no more than an hour before the inevitable happened.
“Dammit, looks like this bad boy’s out of juice. And of course we’re miles away from the next town.”
“What should we do?” Clementine asked as she watched Daryl grab his bow and his bag.
“We walk from here. Only thing we can do.”
The two walked on and on past endless fields on an empty dirt road. The car they left was out of site now, and there were no visible walkers to be found.
“So, Daryl, where exactly are we headed?”
“Well, my brother and I were headed towards Sherwood before we split, so that’s where I plan on going. We’ll either have to pass through Lafferty or Archer Creek on the way I suppose. We can figure it out when we get there.”
“Okay, sounds good.” Clementine was just happy to have a plan, and the two were content with walking silently by each other for a while on down the road.
After a while, the two were beginning to approach some crossroads. “Hey, Clementine, do you see that?”
Clem looked in the direction Daryl pointed to see two figures slowly approaching from the road on their left. “Walkers?”
“Even if they aren’t walkers, I sure as hell am not taking the chance of them ransacking us.” Daryl lifted his bow and aimed at the figures. “One of them looks kind of big.”
“Daryl, wait!” Clementine lowered Daryl’s bow and ran towards the figures.
“Clem! Clementine!” Daryl shouted as he trailed her.
As they got closer, Clementine realized exactly who the figures were. “That’s Christa and Omid!”
“Clementine?!” The two figures shouted as they made their way to her. “Clementine! Oh thank God, we thought you were gone… We looked around forever for you!”
Clementine hugged the pregnant Christa and Omid patted her head as he smiled. He cautiously looked over to Daryl who had stopped running and was trying to catch his breath. “Hello there… Clementine, who’s your friend?”
“Christa, Omid, this is Daryl. We’ve been travelling together ever since we got split up. He’s helped me out a lot.”
“It’s more like she helped me,” Daryl said as he looked at the two.
“Well, if Clem’s been with you all this time, and she trusts you, then we trust you too.” Christa said, easing Omid as well.
“We can all travel together right?” Clementine asked as she looked around at the group.
Daryl, unready to let his guard down, looked on at Christa and Omid. “Where’re you guys headed?”
“We’re going to Wellington. Hopefully there’s a chance things may be better there.”
“Things aren’t going to be better anywhere…” Daryl muttered. “I’m sorry Clem, I can’t go with you.”
“Why not?” Clementine asked as she approached her friend.
“I need to head towards Sherwood, it’s my best bet of finding my brother.” A sadness rang through each word Daryl spoke.
“We actually passed through Lafferty, you probably don’t want to go that way…” Omid warned.
“Archer Creek it is then.” Clementine followed Daryl as he began to walk past Christa and Omid.
“So this is goodbye?...”
“I’m afraid so Clem.” Daryl answered with a hand on her shoulder.
“Are you sure you’ll be okay by yourself? I mean, Christa and Omid… At least they have each other.”
“I’ll be fine Clem. I may not be as tough as you, but you know I can take care of myself.” Clementine couldn’t help but crack a small smile at Daryl’s comment. “Besides, I’ll have my brother Merle once I finally catch up to him, so don’t you worry about me.”
“Okay Daryl. You be careful out there. Don’t go breaking everybody’s good China just for fun either, only in an emergency…”
“Haha okay, the same goes for you. You’re going to make it in this world Clementine. If anybody can, it’s you. You’re tough, so you hang in there and watch out for your friends.”
“I will… I’ll never forget you, Daryl.”
“I’ll never forget you either, Clementine.” Daryl threw his crossbow over his shoulder and turned away. Clementine watched as he walked on down the road alone in search of his brother. She held back tears as she said goodbye to her friend. For a moment, Clementine thought the wings on Daryl’s vest made him look like an angel as he walked on towards the sun.
Spoiler ShowI felt warm and fuzzy as I lay underneath the blankets in my bed. Too warm as a matter of fact. It was that awful feeling where if I let my sweating feet out of the blanket they would freeze instantly. But if that were the case, then why were they sweating at all? Was there any scientific reason that this happened? I didn’t want to ask and just get told “hormones,” because that seemed to be the answer to everything I asked.
Man, now I felt chills on the back of my neck. Every time that happens, I always think back to the rumors about ghosts being present in the room. It’s ridiculous really. But is it?
I kept my eyes shut and attempted to let myself drift off, sweaty feet or not. I thought about what I might eat for breakfast. On the bus ride to school, would I get to sit next to the girl I liked? Would I sit next to her at lunch? Did she even like me? My thoughts moved onto tennis. I loved to play, but I hated to practice. Yeah, practice was important and all, but still… Then my thoughts moved onto the breathing in my room.
What? My breath halted and my eyes squeezed shut. That was definitely someone else’s breathing that I heard. Who was it? Who was in here? I slowly let out a breath, and as I started to calm down I heard it again. Where was it coming from? Was it close? I was not about to open my eyes and find out. I pulled the blanket over my head.
You know, this happened once before. I thought I heard breathing, but in the end it just ended up being the air coming out of my nose funny. When I sleep, I’m definitely a mouth breather. So when the sound of the breath leaving both exits clashed and my nose had a booger in it or something, I panicked and thought the breath was someone else’s. I know it sounds silly, but it’s not.
Well, my nose was fine. Just to be sure, I stuck my finger up both nostrils. Yeah, it was definitely fine, which meant the breathing was not mine.
Great, now I had to pee. Would squeezing my legs together really do the trick? I would imagine that would just squeeze on my bladder. What were the odds that I could just fall asleep without going to the restroom? It was worth a shot. My closed eyes felt a bit f a sting from being so tired. I wanted nothing more than to drift off. But the immense feeling of something inside my body just shoving on my bladder made me feel like I was going to explode. It didn’t help with the sweating either. Oh God I had to go…
As if my body was out of my control, it darted up in my bed and faced the steps leading upstairs. My room was in the basement, so I had to make my way through the dark and up the steps before I could even think about releasing this.
I swung my legs over the side of my bed and then pulled them back up quickly. What if something from under my bed reached out and grabbed my ankle the moment my foot hit the floor? It could have been waiting under my bed for this moment to grab me and pull me under. Once I was under there, they’d probably tear me to shreds and take my flesh to another world.
I gazed through the dark into nothing as I contemplated just trying to go back to sleep again. Okay, I just need to land my feet on the ground as far away from the bed as I could before making a dash for the stairs. I took a little leap and heard my bed squeak as I took off from my bed and frantically ran up the stairs. I placed my hand on the handle and stopped. What if something was waiting for me on the other side of this door with a machete? What if the thing under my bed was following me?! Without another thought I pushed my way through the door.
The ground floor of our house was eerie at night. I could hear creaking and shuffling noises coming from the next room. It was just the house settling of course. Of course.
I looked up the steps down the hall and thought I saw someone standing on them for a moment. After further examination, I could see nothing was there. Those stairs always tricked me.
When I got to the bathroom, I reached my hand in the door and flipped the light on before stepping inside. I walked over to the toilet and pulled down my pants. The relief was overwhelming; nobody should ever have to hold that in. My eyes flickered to the yellow shower curtain directly to my right. I always imagined somebody in one of those famous hockey masks just opening the shower curtain and getting me. Without even thinking about it I pulled the curtain open to examine the inside. I was startled at first because I thought I saw a body lying on the floor of the tub, but it was just wads of hair all bunched up together.
After flushing, I know you should wash your hands, but I didn’t. Washing my hands would mean looking in the mirror, and I know the moment I did my mirror self would reach through and grab me. He hadn’t got me yet, and he wasn’t about to now. I quickly walked past the mirror and moved back to the basement door. I thought I forgot to turn off the bathroom light, but it was too late for that now; there was no way I could go back.
When I made it back to the basement, I looked down the steps to see nothing but pitch black space. I couldn’t make out anything from up here. I reached around above the steps to hit the light switch, and the moment I did the basement lights flickered on and of real quick. Crap. I flipped the switch up and down, but it was no use, the light bulb burned out. Suddenly I could hear that breathing again. As it picked up, my breathing picked up. Or was it the other way around?
This was it. I just needed to make a run for it. I needed to get back to the safety of my bed and everything would be fine. I started down the steps in a hurry and tripped. This causes my body to produce a loud banging noise down each step that scared the heebie-jeebies out of me. As soon as I hit the ground I bolted through the darkness and jumped onto my bed, making sure to not give whatever was under it the chance to grab my legs.
As soon as I was in my bed and under the blankets I felt safe again already. I could hear the breathing, but everybody knows that you’re safe under the blankets. I pulled them over my face again and rolled over to face the wall. I was absolutely terrified when I bumped into the cold body that was lying under my blankets beside me.
Spoiler ShowI sat quietly on the train as I stared intently out the window. Any minute now the train would arrive and I could finally hang out with two of the best friends a guy could ever have.
“Excuse me, mind if I sit here” A blue enthusiastic looking cat took the seat across from me before I could answer. “So-“
“Rover, I’m not moving into a new town. I’m just visiting.”
“What? Do we know each other?... Wait, Max? Is that you?” Rover looked me up and down very carefully. I wondered if he had snuck a couple sniffs in there for good measure.
“Yeah, it’s me.” I answered him with a smile.
“You look different! When you first moved into Radiata, your hair was kind of spikey and you were just wearing a plain old t-shirt. Now look at you, with the shaggy hair, and the Governor-esque eye patch. And then you have on the black coat… You look like a bonified bad guy!”
“Well I’m not!” I responded in a huff. I could wear whatever what I wanted.
“What’s with all of the cherries?” Rover asked as his eyes widened at all the fruit I had with me.
“They’re for my friends.”
“They look yummy… Can I have one?”
“No! What part of for my friends don’t you get?”
“You really are like a bad guy,” Rover said as he frowned.
I sighed as I handed him a cherry. “Now somebody’s going to get an uneven basket, but I just can’t deal with the guilt trip.”
“See, I knew you weren’t so bad, Max!” Rover gobbled up the cherry just as the train came to a halt. “Well, we’re finally in Ellin. This is your stop, right?”
“Yup. And I suppose you’ll still be on the train when it’s time for me to leave.” Rover smiled and waved as I stepped off of the train and into Ellin. As soon as I stepped out into the sunlight, I was greeted by my friend Casper, who surprisingly sported the exact same hairstyle as me. He also wore glasses, and always showed tons of emotion. Close by him was our friend Jeri, who had pink hair that stood out like a sore thumb. She was holding a balloon that Casper had given her in one hand, and she waved to me with the other.
“Hey Max!” Casper shouted as he did a ridiculous little spin.
“Hey guys-“ After only 3 steps, I fell into a hole and dropped all of the baskets of cherries I had brought with me. “Ugh, uragh!!!” I let out masculine grunts as I tried to pull myself out of the hole.
“Hahahaha! He actually fell in!” Casper walked up to me and sneezed on my face before he let loose his stupid little spin again and ran off in complete wonder.
“Is this how you two greet your friends?! You plant pitfall seeds?!” I finally pulled myself out of the hole and faced Jeri.
“Hi Max!” Jeri said with a smile on her face. I pulled out my axe, and it wasn’t to chop down trees.
“Max? Ahh!” Jeri immediately took off as I chased her around with my axe. It was just like some cartoon, where the cat would chase the mouse around with an axe. And. He. Can. NEVER CATCH THE MOUSE!
I chased Jeri through the trees and behind houses. She was a quick little thing, and I lost sight of her frequently, but I was not going to give up! There would be justice for that pitfall…
She managed to get away good this time. I circled Ellin several times over, but to no avail. It was as if Jeri had disappeared.
“Achoo! Can’t find her?” I felt the sprinkles of saliva land all over the side of my face. I wiped them off and turned to Casper. He just had this grin on his face that could not be wiped off. He sneezed in my face again and smiled.
“Stop sneezing on me! What makes you think that’s okay?!” Casper sneezed on me again, as if he was testing me. That was the last straw. I started smacking him with my axe over and over. No matter how many times I hit him though, the axe just bounced right off of his body. “What is wrong with this thing?! Where’s Jeri?!” Casper interrupted me with a sneeze to the face. “WHY?!”
“Hehe, I can’t believe you haven’t found her.” Casper said with a smirk.
“I swear, if you sneeze on me… So where is she?” Casper didn’t respond, and instead twirled around again. I could see I was going to have to find her myself.
Casper followed me around town while I searched for Jeri. I didn’t even know why I was chasing her anymore. More than likely Casper planted that pitfall seed to try and send me to my doom, and obviously my axe was magical and made of rubber since it just bounced off of people. I suppose I just needed to find her out of principle now.
On my way through town, I spotted a penguin waltzing round. “Whoa… Casper, is that Fezz?”
“I wish it was Fezz.”
The penguin approached me to greet me and I politely ignored him. “If he’s not Fezz, then I don’t care.”
“That’s cold bro,” Casper said behind his glasses.
“Was that intended to be a penguin pun?”
Before long, we approached Casper’s house. “I swear, if she’s in there…”
Upon entering, there she was. Jeri was just hiding out in Casper’s home.
“You can’t hide inside Jeri, that’s against the rules!”
“But it was kind of scary when you started chasing me with that axe Max…”
Great, now I was the bad guy. Rover was right. “I’m sorry, Jeri, I was just messing around.”
“It’s okay Max! Casper, I love your house!” Jeri began running around playing with Casper’s trinkets and gadgets. His house held absolutely no theme. He just had things placed wherever he darn well pleased.
“Um, Casper? Is that a toilet in front of your desk?” I asked him. It was one of those questions I already knew the answer to.
“Of course it is. Where else would you sit?”
“Right… Okay. So, I like what you’ve done with the place,” I commented as I looked at his randomly placed Master Sword.
“Thanks man. Yeah, I just kind of put all of my junk wherever.”
“What’s your house like, Max?” Jeri asked with a look of curiosity in her eyes.
“Well, I’m kind of going for…” Before I finished my sentence I changed clothes out of nowhere like a superhero. “A pirate theme!” I now sported my Guybrush Threepwood Pirate coat that went well with my eyepatch.
“Hold on a second…” Casper plopped a pirate hat on my head and I straightened it up. “There!”
“Argh, mateys!” I promptly ran out of the house and headed for the beach.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So you’re building a lighthouse? That’s so cool!” I could hear Jeri talking to Casper in the distance. “Hey, where’s Max?”
I hadn’t really been paying attention to a thing they said for 20 or so minutes. I was too busy digging up Casper’s beach looking for treasure. Unfortunately, there was none. The entire beach was nothing but a bunch of dug up holes now surrounding some banana trees.
“Oh sweet Jesus…” I heard Casper mutter from behind me as he finally made his way to the beach. “Max, what did you do?”
“I was digging for treasure, because I’m a pirate… Argh?” This was embarrassing.
“Oh my…” Jeri said quietly as she approached one of the holes I dug.
“Eh, whatever,” Casper said, “I’m just going to leave it. Just as Casper and I started to walk away, we heard Jeri filling in a couple of the holes. She kicked the sand with her little feet, slowly cleaning up the beach.
“Aww, now I have to help fix it.” Casper made his way back over to her and started kicking some sand in as well.
“I uh, I suppose I should help too.” The three of us kicked sand in the holes throughout the beach for a while before giving up and moving on to Ellin’s town tree.
The three of us sat on the ledge of the town tree and closed our eyes. We each smiled and soaked in Ellin’s warm breeze as it blew through our hair. We were a goofy bunch, but I think that’s what made it so fun to be together. Casper took a picture of the three of us sitting together and we all leaned in to take a look at it.
“Chillin’ together like a boss,” Jeri said with a smile on her face.
“Haha, we look good,” Casper added in.
“We should take more picures throughout the day, what do you guys say?” I asked as I stood up.
“That’s a great idea!” Jeri said, holding her balloon tightly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Wait Max, what are you doing?” Casper asked me confused.
“There was no treasure on the beach, and we need to pay off your lighthouse so that your town can get a little bit of swag, okay!”
Jeri dug up several marked spots on the ground, each of which revealed a hundred bells.
As I dug up holes and buried money, Jeri followed closely behind me and dug it all up, neatly filling her holes back up when she finished. Casper took a picture of us as we went. “So I’ll ask again, what are you doing?”
“Diggin’ for treasure with the lass,” I responded as I posed with my shovel.
“It looks more like you’re burying it…” Casper responded. Jeri gave out a slight giggle and my cheeks turned red.
“Listen! Someone has to bury the buried treasure, and it would be boring if I just went and put money towards the lighthouse straightforward. A treasure hunt is more fun, now dig!” I pointed behind Casper, and he turned to see hundreds of freshly filled holes just waiting to be dug up.
“Oh Max, why… I’ll never find my fossils if I don’t dig these up now…” Casper got out a shovel and started digging. “Max, you cheap bastard, you only buried 100 bells in each hole,” he turned to face me to find me reburying money throughout the ground behind him. “Max, stop!”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After we had finally found all of the pirate’s buried treasure, we paid off Casper’s lighthouse and took a break in the museum.
“Hey, Jeri?” I asked as we looked at all of the fishies.
“Yes, Max?”
“How do you think Animal Crossing will end?”
“Wh-what? Um… What do you mean?” I could hear the shyness in her voice as she didn’t know how to respond. Casper started chuckling from the couches as he listened in.
“Come on Jeri, you know. The video game, Animal Crossing, how do you think it will end?”
“Um… Well….”
“Do you think there will be an epic plot twist? Will a beloved character die?! Oh man, I can’t wait to see how the story finally comes to a close!”
“I, uh, I don’t know,” the three of us began to laugh with each other about the whole conversation, and Casper made his way over to us by the fish fountain.
“Alright guys, picture time. 1… 2…” On 3, Casper did his little spin and struck a pose just as he took the picture.
“Seriously?” I asked him as we looked at the picture.
“We’re the best of friends! But I’m the bestest!” Casper declared, still standing in his pose.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was getting dark out, and the three of us headed back to Ellin’s train station. It seemed like the day was over way too soon, but it definitely wasn’t going to be the last time we hung out like this.
“We should do this again sometime soon!” Jeri said with a smile.
“Definitely!” Casper replied with a little twirl. He looked at me and smirked just before sneezing on my face.
I wiped it off and glared at him. “Don’t even get me started…”
We all started to laugh again and from the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of all of the cherries I dropped on the ground. “Oh yeah, those are for you guys.”
“Really? Wow, thank you!” Jeri said as she smiled and picked up the cherries. "I actually brought some peaches for both of you!”
“Well… I kind of have everything else,” a grin spread across Casper’s face as he pointed to all of the apples and oranges, and all the other fruit hanging from the trees of his town.
As we stepped through the doors of the train station, I felt a sadness come over me as I had to say goodbye to my friends.
Jeri looked between the both of us and her eyes lit up. “We should make it official. Let’s make a club! We’ll have name and everything, and then we can hang out regularly!”
“Okay, let’s do it!” Casper said.
“I agree, that’ll be great!”
“Hmm, what should our name be?...” Jeri asked as she scratched her head and looked up to her balloon.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sat on the train and waved to Casper as it slowly departed Ellin. Jeri left shortly before I did on a different train, and now I sat here wondering when we could all hang out again. Rover approached and sat across from me again.
“I told you you’d be here,” I said to him as I laughed and stared out the window at the night sky.
“Wow, you left with cherries and came back with peaches and apples! Can I, uh…”
I handed Rover an apple and leaned back in my seat. When I closed my eyes, it was almost as if I could feel the warm Ellin wind blowing through my hair again. Casper, Jeri, and I. We were the best of friends, and we were the Balloon Squad Protectors.

He hadn't talked to them in years.Ethan wasn't even sure if they still lived near him. When his shift was over,he rode the bus home and picked up the trusty phone book and searched for their numbers. He dialed Liam's number first. When he answered ,Ethan said,
"Hey,It's Ethan. You,me,and Jacob should meet up tomorrow,I don't have work that day. It'd be a great opportunity for us to chat. It'd be like good old times."
Liam didn't answer.
"What's wrong?" Ethan asked.
"I got a call today,Jacob is in the hospital , they said he's not looking to good.I was about to head there..."
"What?Which one?"
"The one near your apartment, northern." Liam answered without giving specific details.
"Okay,I'll be there ASAP!"
When Ethan arrived, there was Liam laying on the bed and Jacob kneeling beside him.Ethan rushed up to Jacob.
"What happened?" Ethan asked.
Jacob let out a rough cough. "Hehe,a really bad car accident. We all used to be such good friends. We should have spent more time together....A bit too late for that isn't it. He smiled.
"We'll be here till the end for each other." Liam said.
Jacob smiled as his eyes close and his head tilted down.
"We'll never forget." Ethan said.
Spoiler ShowAang woke up to see the shining rays of the sun beam through his window. He let out a lazy yawn as he got out of bed.He walked out of his bedroom and went outside ready to play a friendly game of airball with the other airbenders. He stumbled upon Monk Gyatso who was meditating while waiting for him. Aang forgot he had Avatar training today. He slowly crouched down and walked towards the door.
"Aang..I know you're there." Monk Gyatso said while still meditating with his eyes closed.
Aang let out an irritated sigh. "But Gyatso, all the other airbenders get to play airball."
"Aang,it's your responsibility as the Avatar." Gyatso reasoned.
"Gyatso, can I just play one game?" Aang pleaded.
"One game." Gyatso said.
"Thank you Gyatso!" Aang said while rushing to join the others.
When Aang arrived with the other airbenders, they all stopped what they were doing and turned to him.
"Look who it is,the Avatar. One of the airbenders said sarcastically.
"What's the matter guys?" Aang asked curiously.
"Well since you're the Avatar, you'd have a pretty big unfair advantage to the rest of us..." Another commented.
"Why couldn't you have been normal like everyone else?" Another added.
"Yeah.Don't you have some training to do or something?" One finished off in a rude way.
Aang frowned and headed back to Monk Gyatso disappointed.Monk Gyatso was waiting for him in the same spot when Aang left to play airball.
"Something the matter,Aang?" Monk Gyatso asked.
"Yeah...the other airbenders won't let me play with them because I'm the Avatar." Aang frowned.
"Aang,as the Avatar, you won't be treated the same as others. That's the cost of the Avatar..." Gyatso said.
"But I didn't asked to be the Avatar!" Aang shouted.
"Aang....." Gyatso said. "We should probably begin meditating."
"Okay Gyatso."
They meditated for a few hours until Gyatso said that Aang could go to rest now.It took Aang awhile to fall asleep. He had a lot to think about.
When he woke up Gyatso had a talk with him about being the Avatar.
"Aang,as the Avatar there are sine things you have to sacrifice. You may never be able to settle down and have a family. Aang I trust you not to tell anyone this but I have motive that the Fire Nation is planning an attack on the other nations sooner or layer. You may be the first Avatar in a long time that may have to deal with something as big as this. You cannot run from your duty Aang.It is important you train whenever you can."
Aang didn't say anything.
"But first, let me teach you how to make fruit pies." Gyatso smiled.
After they finished making fruit pies, Aang said, "There." As he finished preparing the last fruit pie.
"Now let's do some airbending practice." Gyatso suggested. "Blow the fruit pies through the air and have them land on the heads of the four monks meditating below us."
"This will be great!" Aang said.
He did so and it interrupted their meditating and very soon, several Winged Lemurs flew in and ate the fruit pies off of their heads. Aang and Gyatso had a good laugh about it for a while.
Later that day,Aang overheard he had to be separated from Gyatso soon. Aang decided he didn't want to be the Avatar anymore so he ran away.It was a stormy night when he decided to do it.He took his Sky Bison, Appa, overseas hoping to get somewhere. The rain was pouring hard.It was getting very hard to see.Lightning soon struck near Appa and they fell into the ocean. They were sinking.
Aang went into the Avatar State which was a defense mechanism, designed to empower you with strength and knowledge of all past avatars. He trapped himself and Appa in a circular ice state keeping them safe for the time being. As he was falling asleep he remembered what Monk Gyatso told him but Aang assured himself it was nothing.
It felt like a few hours while he was sleeping but when he woke up,he could see a girl and a boy standing in front of him and Appa.

“Hey, Kairi, are you busy?” Shakou shut Master Yen Sid’s office door behind her, tucking a short, black lock of hair behind her ear. Please tell me she hasn’t left for her next mission yet. “Can you help me with something?”
“Shakou, is that you?” Kairi’s head popped out from her bedroom door a flight down, and she brushed her burgundy bangs from her sapphire eyes. Fellow Keyblade apprentice and Princess of Heart, Kairi had come to the Mysterious Tower to train under Master Yen Sid only a month before Shakou had, and they became close friends through sparring and late-night talking. “Oh, you’re back! Good to see you.”
“You, too, Princess,” Shakou called back down. “Master sent me, Riku, and Lea to Hollow Bastion for intel on the Organizations.” Her brow furrowed, and the corners of her lips sank as she continued her vigorous descent. “But that’s just it. Something happened to Lea and I can’t figure out what.”
Kairi mirrored her frown and climbed a few steps before she met the older girl’s altitude. “Is he hurt?”
“No, I don’t think he’s hurt…but he’s really quiet. And he’s mad, he’s definitely mad.” She turned and, together, she and Kairi descended further, aiming for the kitchens. “There was this guy…”
“Would it kill him to wait for us?” Shakou grunted. Her boots slapped the stones as she and Riku raced after their comrade, who had taken off for the underground water treatment chamber as soon as they stepped outside. She clutched the disk containing Ienzo’s files in her jacket pocket.
“He isn’t that easily distracted,” Riku replied calmly. “If he ran after something, it must’ve been important. Get ready; it could be Heartless.”
Two Keyblades – Way to the Dawn for Riku, and Resolution for Shakou – flashed into their extended fists, and, after an affirmative nod from Riku, Shakou crept through the tunnel grates.
The water tunnel was by far the cleanest Shakou had ever seen; obviously, people at Hollow Bastion took much better care of their facilities than the people on her home world did. No algae adorned the walls, no stench assaulted her nostrils, and no slime threatened to dislodge her boots from their solid grip on the concrete. As she and Riku crept along, a thundering, monotonous roar echoed and grew louder. A waterfall? How big is this place? Shakou pondered. Upon slashing a few Shadows from their path, the wielders crouched at the exit, straining to hear over the deafening underground river. Shakou scanned the small plateau below her. I can jump down there and sneak to the edge; nobody would see me. As she straightened to prepare for her jump, a scarlet rustling caught her eye, and she quickly sank to her knees again. Cautiously, she poked her head higher again. Bright red spikes trembled as a tall figure leveled a Keyblade directly in front of himself.
“There,” she hissed. “It’s Lea. I see his hair.”
Riku squinted down. “Who’s he with?”
“There’s—?” She stretched her neck, angling left and right, and discovered that Lea’s Keyblade was, indeed, pointed at a second figure. No matter how far Shakou shifted her head or how tightly she squinted her eyes, she could not identify any facial features, for a large black hood obscured nearly all of the figure’s face.
The cloak’s the same as Lea’s, she realized. Who is this guy?
“Why are you here?” Lea growled.
The man chuckled – a deep, cold sound that made the hair on Shakou’s neck prickle. “Perhaps I grew nostalgic and wished to revisit our world. Is that a crime?”
“Nobodies don’t have hearts to feel nostalgic with.” The gravel scraped as Lea stalked forward. “Oh, wait, I forgot – they do, and you lied to me. Oh, and another thing, attempted assault is a crime. Got it memorized?”
“Will you fetch the police?” In a vortex of dark clouds, the figure summoned a large object. Blue and white spikes stabbed outward from a circular head like a frozen sun, and it was connected to a long, thick neck. Its total length rivaled the height of its wielder. “Or will you call upon your little Keyblade-wielding friends? Tell me, have you heard from Roxas recently?”
Roxas? Sora’s Nobody? Shakou squinted further. How does he know about Roxas?
A boulder of fire sped across the gap between the men, colliding with the latter figure and forcing him back several paces. The mysterious man’s hood blew backward from the heat wave, and out spilled a cascade of sky-blue hair. His skin was pale and, from what Shakou could see, flawless, save for a large, symmetrical mark of some kind on his face.
Lea’s eyes glinted in the dim evening light, and he wound up his arm to cast another spell.
“Riku!” Shakou hissed. “I can snipe from here, what do we—“
The Keyblade Master’s hand shot up, stopping her. “No, don’t. This is his fight.”
“But—“
“Shakou, please trust me,” Riku insisted. “This is his fight; let them fight it out.”
She paused, watching as the blue-haired man lifted the spiked club and swung at Lea. She stifled a gasp and reached out but realized that Lea had not flinched or cried out; the second man must have missed. “Can I at least know why it’s his fight?”
“He knows that guy,” Riku explained. “They go back a long time.”
“…They go back a long time and…? That’s a long rivalry, innit?”
“‘Rivalry’ isn’t necessarily the word I’d use,” came his reply. “I don’t really know what the deal is between them. All I know’s that they’re enemies.”
A loud grunt of pain burst from Lea’s direction. Flinching, Shakou shot up, but Riku grabbed her wrist and eased her down again. “We only go in if he seems like he’s in serious danger.”
“Those spikes can go clean through him!” she insisted. “That seems like serious danger to me.”
“He’s tough, Shakou,” Riku smiled. “He’s stronger than you might think.”
I hope you’re right, man, she groaned inwardly.
Dark clouds materialized suddenly behind the blue-haired man. A dark portal! Shakou realized. This guy must be really bad news. Without another word, the man turned his back on Lea and started to walk away.
“Where’re you going?!” Lea bellowed. Another huge fireball targeted itself on the man, but it was too late – he stepped through the indigo archway and vanished. “I’m not done with you yet! Get back here, you—!” A flaming meteor shower rained down where the portal stood only moments before. Lea crumpled to his knees and punched the ground with a yell, then sat still.
Shakou was already moving by the time Riku stood up, racing down the platforms to where the redhead stopped moving. “Lea!” She called back her Keyblade and raised it, pointing it at him. “Curaga.” A green light enveloped him, but still he did not move. She inched closer and squatted down. He was not unconscious, she realized – his eyes were open, and glaring directly in front of him. “Lea–“
“Leave me alone.” Never tearing his gaze from the ground ahead of him, he stood and brushed his coat off. “We got what we came for, so let’s go.”
“He didn’t talk at all on the way back, either,” Shakou finished. “I don’t know what to do. I wanna help him but I don’t know what I’d help with.”
She turned to her companion but found Kairi pale beside her. “Kairi?”
“I-I’m sorry,” Kairi blushed and a bit of her color returned. “Shakou, did you say that the man who fought Lea had long, blue hair?”
“Yeah.”
“And he had a mark on his face?”
“Yeah, it was pretty big, but I couldn’t make out what shape it was.” Shakou squinted lightly at the Princess. “You know him?”
“I…wish I didn’t,” Kairi admitted. Gingerly, she tapped the disk on the counter next to Shakou’s hand. “This has data about the original Organization members, right? I think that man was called Saïx. If you wanna help Lea, I think it’d be best to read Saïx’s file first, before you talk to him.”
“Saïx…” Shakou thoughtfully turned the disk over. “Kairi, why do you wish you didn’t know him? Did he give you problems, too?”
“He gave everybody problems – me, Sora, Riku, Lea, King Mickey.… He willingly steeped his heart in darkness.” Despite her words, Kairi’s eyes remained soft. Shakou wished she could borrow an ounce of Kairi’s forgiveness. “He’s one of Xehanort’s cohorts, and Riku told me he’s one of the new Organization members, too.”
“Xehanort?! No wonder,” Shakou breathed. If he was in the original Organization, too, that’d explain how he knew Roxas. Roxas worked for them, right? “Wait, that doesn’t make any sense, though. Master Yen Sid told us to eliminate as many Organization members as we could, so why didn’t Lea attack him on the spot?”
Kairi fidgeted and looked down at the large metal bowl before them. “I’m sorry, I don’t know. But maybe there’s something in his file that can explain something.”
“True. Okay, I’ll look into it. Thank you for helping me, Kairi.”
Kairi looked up at her, a polite smile on her cheeks. “My pleasure.”
Knock, knock, knock. Shakou’s knuckles rapped softly on Lea’s bedroom door, her other hand tucked behind her back. Upon hearing a low, halfhearted grunt, she turned the handle and eased the door open.
Lea stood at his window, his back to Shakou, while the evening breeze tousled his bright spikes. She tiptoed to him, as though afraid to wake him, until she stood at his shoulder. The glare had not left his eyes, and now a wet film spread itself across his gaze. She drew in a breath and tapped his shoulder. When he turned a few degrees to look down at her, she bit her lip and mustered her resolve not to cower under his intensity. She brought her hand from behind her back and held it out, offering him a fresh sea salt ice cream. The man only stared. Looks like things are even worse than I thought. After a few moments of silence, he lifted his hand, accepted the ice cream from her, and bit into it.
“It’s a bit sweeter than usual,” he commented. She knew that flat voice; he had been crying.
“Sorry,” she whispered. “I guess Kairi and I didn’t add enough salt this time—?”
“It’s fine.” He took another bite. “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.” She turned a bit and walked to his desk, pulled out the chair, and sat. “You wanna talk about it?”
“No.”
“Should you talk about it?”
Only the soft crunching of ice cream met her question. After a few minutes, she stood with a heavy heart and turned to leave. “If you ever need to—“
“How much did they tell you?”
Her eyes widened, but she recovered her composure and cleared her throat. “Riku just told me that you’ve known Saïx for a while, and Kairi recommended that I read his file on Ienzo’s disk. Lea, I’m so sorry.” She pulled the disk from her pocket and placed it on his desk. Finally turning to face her, he silently beckoned for her to reseat herself on his bed. She did so without hesitation, while he took his desk chair and turned it backward, straddling it.
“The most important things you need to know about Saïx – and me, a bit – never made it into those files,” he began. “Got it memorized?”
“Like what?” She bit her lip and silenced herself again. “Sorry.”
He waved his hand dismissively. “I’ll start by saying that…well, we were best friends, once.”
“His real name, you probably saw in his file, is Isa. He’s only called Saïx now because he still serves Xehanort – he was the one who gave us all our Nobody names.”
“And you were Axel, right?”
“Yeah. Anyway, Isa and I grew up together in Radiant Garden (you know, what Hollow Bastion used to be), practically brothers. We’d hang out every day, at school, after school. We’d get ice cream, spar, pull pranks – well, actually, he planned pranks while I pulled ‘em. He always kept a level head, and I was the hothead. That’s probably why he was so good at everything. It was a struggle to keep up with him, but I did.
“We decided, one day, that we wanted to sneak into Hollow Bastion. We had a plan worked out. But…well, you probably saw this, too, it was the same day that Xehanort went crazy and took the hearts of a lot of the castle staff.” Lea set his jaw. “Isa and I were caught in the crossfire.”
“I’m sorry.”
He gave a solemn nod. “We got turned into Nobodies, and Xehanort named us. Isa became number seven in the Organization, and I was number eight. And even though Xehanort told us we didn’t have hearts, Isa couldn’t help but tease me for being one rank below him.” At this, he offered a wry, nostalgic smile. “We did what we knew best: hatched a plan. We decided that we were going to commandeer the Organization, get our hearts back, and go back to our lives, and that once we did, we wouldn’t storm the castle or pull pranks anymore. It was easy at first: he thought out the plans and played nice with Xemnas (you know, Xehanort’s Nobody?), and I was the ‘muscle’ that carried out Isa’s plans, just like old times.
“But about two years ago, I noticed something about him. His ‘Saïx’ was showing more than his ‘Isa,’ and it got stronger as time went on. We finally completed a big chunk of our plan when Saïx rounded up half the Organization and sent me with them to Castle Oblivion…to dispose of ‘em.”
“Dispose?! You—“
“I know. I’m not making any excuses for what I did as Axel.” He paused briefly to chew off more ice cream. “I was personally responsible for the deaths of two of the members: Vexen and Zexion.”
“Even and Ienzo’s Nobodies.”
“Yeah.”
“I’m kinda surprised Ienzo was so cordial with you, then, no offense.”
Lea barked out a chuckle. “Me, too. Anyway, I left the Organization about a year later. Saïx wasn’t just Isa’s Nobody anymore; he was Xehanort’s servant, a stranger. When my Nobody life ended, I found myself back in Hollow Bastion, recompleted and human again. Only, Isa wasn’t there. And then I dove into that dream-limbo thing to help Sora and Riku escape their Mark of Mastery, and…” He heaved a sigh. “Well, I realized why Isa hadn’t been at the castle when the rest of us were. He tried to kill me. It’s like he didn’t even recognize me anymore.”
Shakou stared. “Attempted assault is a crime,” Lea had said. Is that what he meant? “Why would he try to kill you?”
“Like I said, he wasn’t the Isa I knew,” Lea bristled. “That blue glacier you saw wasn’t my friend anymore. He changed.”
“You were in the Organization for a long time together, right? Are you sure he was the only one who changed?” she
asked gently.
“I’m the same guy I was back then!” Lea snapped. Shakou closed her mouth and fixed her gaze on his pillow. “Sorry,” came his grumbled apology.
She scooted forward to the edge of the bed and placed her hand on his shoulder. He raised his head and matched her gaze. “Maybe you don’t have to do this alone, Lea.”
“’Course I do. He’s my responsibility.”
“He’s your goal. In the end, if you want Isa back, you’ll have to—“ She stopped herself and restarted. “Just because he was your friend doesn’t mean he’s only your burden. I know a few other people who have baggage against him, too.”
“Yeah, like who? Who’s got baggage against him like I do?”
“Sora, for one, and—” But she cut herself off again, fighting back her next words. She opened her mouth to speak again. “We can help you. If you want a final showdown or whatever thing like that, you can have it. But do you have to do everything by yourself?” Her hand slid down and took one of his gloved ones. “Please, Lea, let me help you. I can look for him, too. And I can let you know if he does anything else.”
Lea chewed the inside of his cheek. “Don’t go out of your way, okay?”
“I can’t guarantee that.”
His eyes narrowed at her, and he shifted without withdrawing his hand from hers. “What’s with the change of heart? A few months ago, you drew your Keyblade on me, and you didn’t wanna be anywhere near me. What gives?”
A faint blush tickled her cheeks. “I think I realized that I haven’t been cutting you enough slack. We have more in common than you might think.” She tapped her temple with a light smile. “’Got it memorized’?”
A spark of a smile flashed across his thin cheeks. “Like what?”
“I’ll tell you another time. But this isn’t about me, right now. It’s about you.”
After a few more minutes of staring and questioning glances, Lea murmured, “Thanks, Shakou.”
“You’re welcome. You want another ice cream?”
“Yeah.”
“I’ll be right back.”

Suffocating. Overwhelming.
Those two words filled a young man's mind as he walked into a club. There were people on his left and right. Some on barstools, others on the railing that overlooked the dance floor. A glass shattered that he looked sharply to his right to see a man fall off of his stool and laugh his ass off. Disgusting. If he had a choice, he wouldn't be here. This place wasn't his kind of scene. The crowded cheered that it filled his senses with a dull roaring sound as he made his way past the swarm of people. The music made his chest pound in time to the beat that it felt unsettling as he drew closer. In the center of the dance floor stood a girl around his age, her smile forming into a smirk as she began to sway her hips in time to the music. It was like a whip cracking as she danced that you couldn't take your eyes off of her.
A hand clamped down onto the back of his shoulder that he swung around with a fist raised and ready to punch the daylights out of the man who dared to touch him. Except his fist was caught by the wrist, halting his movements; he was thrown down onto the floor by his own momentum. What. The. Hell? Apprehension hit him like a ton of bricks as he laid there on the floor in a daze. Not to many could hand his butt to him.
"Loosen up, Zero. You're here to watch her dance, right?"
Oh no. What did I just do?
"Kaz," Zero said apologetically, "I didn't know it was you."
Standing over him was a young man about a year older than Zero. They were suppose to be on a mission but, had to pick up one last thing before they could hit the road and be on their way. Beneath the blonde spiky hair did Zero finally look up into purple colored eyes filled with amusement. Except the twitch in Kaz's smile was all he needed to know he screwed up big time. Zero gulped. It wasn't wise to get on Kaz's bad side. Rarely did it ever happen between the two of them.
"We'll discuss that later." Kaz said firmly, offering a hand to help him up.
"You know I hate crowds like this," Zero said, taking hold of his hand and standing upright again. "If you didn't sneak off, I wouldn't of tried to hit you! You know she won't allow it if you knock me around again, after having to heal me up from our last training session."
Kaz snorted. "Pfft please. You asked me to go hard on you. So I don't even want to hear it. Trisha knows I won't kill you. Even if our training sessions are downright insane. Suicidal even, its never stopped you before. Don't start disappointing me now, Zero."
Turning around to face him did Zero let out a reluctant sigh of irritation. "You know what, Kaz? You're a real jerk sometimes." When he didn't get an answer did Zero take a double take. Nobody was there. Except for two rowdy women that were giggling at him as he stared at them. "Never mind."
Then he took a running leap over the pair of women leaning against the railing. A smirk crossed Zero's lips as he landed with a thud on the dance floor and pulled the twirling girl by the arm and into his arms. Earning gasps behind him. "Impressed yet?" Zero whispered into her ear.
A chuckle escaped the dancing girl's lips. "You'll have to try harder than that."
"What's it take to get you to go out on a date with me?" Zero asked.
"How about buying me a steak first?" She teased.
Zero let his hands laid atop of her hips, keeping their bodies from touching as he leaned into her ear. The scent of honeysuckle wafted into his nose as he nudged her auburn hair aside then whispered into her ear, "Kaz is handling the assassins." Her hand took hold of his, making his breath catch as she pulled out of his embrace and stepped back; twirling in place by the extension of his arm. "Trisha?"
The girl in his arms wouldn't meet his eyes as she twirled back into his chest. Something was wrong. Zero could tell as they swayed together in time to the music, everything around them begun to fade away. The clash of metal a few yards away could be heard but it felt like miles away as she spoke softly in turn, "I'm sorry. I failed you both. We have no where else to run... they know."
Everything around them shattered apart. Dissolving as if this were an illusion. The people inside of the club were fleeing as men in armor took their place. The building shimmered into a sterile like hospital room. Weapons were raised and pointed in Zero's direction.
A scuffle of feet followed by a crash erupted from above Zero's head that he didn't have time to react. Kaz fell directly in front of him and onto the dance floor. Blood soaking his spikey blonde hair as he drew himself up and pulled out his gloves. The smile on his face was one that turned Zero's world upside down.
"Kaz!" Zero said in alarm, reaching out for his arm that was quickly swatted away by a hand.
"This isn't the time to be worrying about my injures." Kaz hissed. "We've been ambushed. Played right into their hands."
Zero nodded. "I know."
"If you're done with the chit chat, I'd like to make one last offer to you boys." A loud booming voice called out.
Kaz eye's narrowed at the man looming behind a thick black glass. "I'm sorry. I wasn't here for negotiating." The room's temperature dropped down several degrees that Zero armed himself with his daggers and waited for Kaz's signal to nab Trisha and run. "We were just leaving."
"That's going against direct orders. Too bad you sent a woman to do a man's job." The man remarked, looking to his right and snapping his fingers.
Trisha struggled against the pair of hands that apprehended her from lashing out. The slimming dress she was wore was no longer there after fading away from the magic that disarmed the place. Instead her normal clothes were in place. A necklace in shape of a crystal hung from her neck.
"This woman nearly fooled me into drinking a cup of poison until I saw that necklace hanging from her neck." Sneered the man. "Had I not knocked her away from pouring the substance into my mouth, you would of been able to escape this place."
"Let her go!" Zero demanded, casting haste onto his feet and swinging his arms out. The clash of metal was deafening as Kaz stood in his way; metal fists raised and deflecting his daggers from striking one of the armored men that stood in his way. Both daggers flying out of his hands.
"What did I tell you earlier?" Kaz whispered. "Do not let your emotions get carried away with you in battle! Obviously my methods of training aren't sinking in."
Zero glared back into Kaz's outraged face. "He's got Trisha!"
"Look around you, Zero." Kaz said eerily calm. "And do not move again until I command you to do it."
In confusion did Zero take another look around. On both sides of his face were spikes jaunting out at him. He could feel the tips of the spikes on either side of his body digging into his ribcage; making him incredibly uncomfortably at his predicament. Narrowly did he not break the skin. Shock filled his core as he turned sharply to look at Kaz again. The metal on his fists were slowly returning to his gloves. A dust like powder was resting around his feet that it dawned on Zero that Kaz had destroyed some of the spikes ready to turn him into a pin cushion.
Trisha let out a gasp as something pierced through her chest. Both boys twisted in alarm to look at her. They were met with dismay and grief as a red sword was sticking out through her stomach; that she fell over without a cry of protest. Blood soaking the dance floor that Zero felt like time had stopped. Its a trick. It has to be!
Except she didn't get up.
They were suppose to escape. No longer working for this awful man that wanted to start another war with mages like herself. Except he was a hypocrite. Using the captive mages by using their own magic against them.
"Zero." Kaz said menacingly. "Kill them all."
Fast ForwardKaz stood with his back to Zero as he rested on the grassy plain. "You need to stop thinking about it. No matter how many times you go over it... there was nothing we could of done."
Zero closed his eyes. He remembered little of what happened that night. The grass tickling against his cheeks as he laid there and soaked the warm rays of sunlight onto his skin. He could almost believe none of it had happened.
"Zero." A feminine voice called out to him.
"Trisha?" Zero muttered softly.
They were free now. So why couldn't he feel at peace? Trisha wasn't here. That's why.
"You need to let it go."
Zero jolted upright from where he laid upon the grassy hill. Time was frozen still with Kaz frozen mid-step and about to swing his steel toed boot into his shin. Zero rolled out of the way before getting up on his feet and playfully poking Kaz's face. Then with gusto did he grab both of Kaz's cheeks and push them up to make him smile.
"Having fun?"
"I wish this was a dream." Zero replied, slowly turning around. "One that I wouldn't wake up from."
Trisha stood in a patch of sunlight and wore a yellow sundress. Auburn hair tumbling around the curves of her chest as she smiled sweetly at the two of them. Green eyes filled with mischief and glee. "I know." Then she stepped right next to him and softly kissed on the cheek. "Next time, you should use a permanent marker on his face. Maybe put a pair of bunnies ears atop of his head."
"How are we suppose to live without you?" Zero demanded, giving her a tight hug only to feel his arms go through her.
"You have to. Do it for me. Live for me as if I were there at your side." Trisha answered honestly.
Zero shook his head. "Kaz and I had a bet. Whoever got to kiss you was going to get to be the one to marry you someday." Zero fell to his knees unable to face the truth that the three of them living their lives was no longer going to be true.
"You two are too much." Trisha laughed then knelt next to him. Her arms wrapping around his shaking shoulders and kissing the top of his head. "You will find someone else. Someone worth fighting for. And Zero?"
Zero looked up into her eyes. "Huh?"
"You and Kaz will always be apart of my heart. You'll never be without me as long as you remember me inside of your heart. Tell Kaz that for me, will you?"
Then she was gone.
"Zero. Enough mopping alread- ah! How did you get over there?" Kaz said, toppling over and landing face first into the grass.
"Need a hand?" Zero said kindly. A soft chuckle escaping his lips at the sight of Kaz with a ton of dirt inside of his mouth.
"Yeah."

It had been over four weeks since Riku and Sora had run into the Winchesters and their angel friend. Since the two Keybearers had filled the other three in on the crucial details, the small team had been searching for the Keyhole, and they were having very little luck. At the same time, the Hunters still had their own work to do, and Riku and Sora had had the dubious honor of meeting a few of the lower class demons that Sam and Dean had to deal with on a regular basis.
Riku was kind of surprised, actually. So far, this world that the brothers lived in appeared normal on the surface; but once you got past that superficial layer, there was a whole lot of supernatural happenings going down. Riku was amazed that more people didn’t believe that the ghosts and monsters were real, but as Dean told the Islanders, people will believe what they want to believe, especially if their minds couldn’t handle the truth.
Even so, Riku and Sora were the only ones with magic that were also human.
The Impala slowly rolled to a stop outside of yet another motel, and Riku looked out the window from the backseat, eager for the chance to climb out and stretch his legs. Honestly, what was the use of being a Keyblade Master if you couldn’t conjure a good portal to get you where you wanted to go? Unfortunately for Riku, his portals, dark or light, were still on the fritz, and Sora never had been able to figure out how to do it. Couple that with the look Dean had given him when Riku had first suggested using the corridors…
Yeah, Riku’s legs were really getting tired of the back seat.
Hauling himself out of the car, Riku took a look around himself at the dusty greenery and asked, “Okay, so where are we now?”
“Kentucky, up in the mountains somewhere.” The reply was short and curt from Dean, and Riku arched a brow at how snappish the Hunter sounded. Come on, they were fighting Heartless, not demons. Even the silver haired teen could see that the demons were a lot nastier than most of the Heartless, and Riku had been fighting some really vicious Heartless over the last four years.
Then again, it might not be the bouts with the Heartless that had Dean on edge. They’d kept it pretty much to themselves, but Riku had noticed the tension growing between Sam and Dean. Sora was smart, but he had a tendency to miss the little things that Riku had a knack for picking up on. A whisper about demon blood here, a whiff of darkness there; there was no denying that something was trying to get its hooks into Sam. Riku didn’t think it was the Heartless, or even the Darkness in particular, and he could sense that Sam wasn’t going to fall for it as easily as he had himself at the beginning, but still, Riku could understand Dean’s tension.
Riku wondered some days if he was gonna backslide into the Darkness despite promises to his friends and himself.
Riku scanned their surroundings, tuning his senses to try and pinpoint a sense of the Keyhole. On the other side of the car, Sora did the same thing, his azure eyes squinting against the glare from the afternoon sun. At the same time, both of them said, “That way,” pointing in two, slightly opposite directions.
Sora laughed, lowering his arm as he shot Riku a look laced with a grin. “Really? You trying to one up me or something, Riku?”
Riku laughed himself, trying to hide his frustration with the act. “Right. It’s more like you have a lousy sense of direction, Sora.”
Sam glanced between the two friends before he decided to venture a suggestion, “Do you think Cas could check it out really quick so we’re not chasing our own tails?”
Both of the teens were silent for a moment, thinking about the suggestion. Then, Sora shook his head as Riku said, “It’s a good idea, Sam, but I don’t think Cas can help with this one. He’s already admitted that the Heartless and the Keyholes are outside his and the other angels experience, and even though an unsealed Keyhole throws off a lot of energy, I don’t think he’ll be able to locate it like Sora or I could.”
The Winchesters took in the information, turning it over in their minds. Seeming to reach the inevitable conclusion first, Dean said, “So we have to split up, then.”
Sora nodded his head. “Yeah, exactly. I’ll go with Sam in the direction I sensed the Keyhole, and you and Riku will take the other direction.”
Dean turned a look on Sora, his green eyes lit with a sarcastic glint, before he said, “Where do you get off on calling the shots, kid?”
Sora, a little on edge himself recently, puffed up at Dean’s comment. Before Sora could say something he might regret, Riku cut in smoothly, “It’s a good plan. Sora and Sam can cover the weakness in each other’s defenses pretty well, and you complement my fighting style. It’s probably the best set up for teams. We can send up sparks or something if we find the Keyhole.”
Dean huffed a slight laugh, a note of appreciation in the sound at how quickly Riku steered that conversation. “Fine,” Dean said, walking around to the back of the Impala. “It’s as good a plan as any. Let’s load up and move out.”
Riku and Sora waited a moment while the Winchesters gathered their equipment from the trunk; once they were ready, the two teams split up, Sam and Sora heading northwest while Riku and Dean trekked northeast. Riku was quiet for a while, leaving Dean to his own thoughts as the teen kept his council while watching the path for any possible signs of danger, Heartless, demon, or otherwise.
Dean and Riku had been walking for perhaps a half hour when a low growl reverberated around the two of them, setting them both on guard. Turning ocean blue eyes toward the sound, Riku felt them grow wider as he hissed, “What’s that thing supposed to be?”
Dean moved forward, his eyes on the massive black dog stalking towards them. His fingers moving quickly as he loaded the gun, Dean hissed, “Dead. Sam and I took this son of a bitch down a few days before you and your friend showed up. So why the hell is the Shuck still alive?”
Riku sniffed the air, then curled his lip at the odor emanating from the beast. Gripping the hilt of Way to Dawn as it appeared in his grip, Riku said grimly, “Simple. That thing’s a Heartless. Maybe it was one before you and Sam smoked it or maybe it turned into one after. The point is, that dog’s not what you thought it was before hand, and it seems like it’s powerful enough to be calling other Heartless here. Watch yourself!”
The Shuck pounced then, a snarling bark rising from its throat. Dean leapt to the side while Riku rolled out of the way of the dog’s lunge; coming to his feet again, Riku palmed a handful of dark fire, letting the ball of flames grow in size before he threw it at the beast, hitting it square in the chest.
The Shuck slowed for a moment, but it didn’t last long before a growl rumbled in its gullet, informing Riku that he’d just seriously pissed it off. A crack sounded in the air, and the beast was jerked to the left as a heavy blow hit it in its right shoulder.
Riku chanced a quick glance over to see Dean lowering the shotgun to slide two more slugs into the chamber. Turning back to the Shuck, Riku saw the sizable injury in the beast’s shoulder, causing him to whistle softly. “What do you use for ammo, again?”
“Rock-salt. Now get your ass in gear!” Dean was snappy, but he was also focused, keeping a keen eye on the Shuck while he loaded a couple more shells into the barrel. Turning his attention back to the dog, Riku lunged at the beast, using his momentum to score a strike on its right flank.
The Shuck snarled, seriously unamused with the two of them. It spun to snap at Riku, but he managed to just twist out of the way, coming to slap the dog low on its heel.
Furious now, the dog pounced, managing to pin Riku under its massive form and knock his Keyblade out of his hand. Riku grunted, trying to get a decent breath in as the Shuck pressed against his chest with its heavy paws. It leaned in close to Riku’s face, its lips pulled back to reveal thick, sharp teeth as it growled low in its throat. Riku scrambled under the dog, trying to get his hands under its chest enough so he could hit it with one of his spells.
A sharp cry sounded to Riku’s left, and a heavy object was forced down on the Shuck’s head, cleaving its skull in two. The dog collapsed on top of Riku, driving the last of the air from his lungs. The beast gave a soft moan that faded away when it did, leaving the only sound to be a soft wheeze from Riku as he sucked an unrestricted breath in.
Finally getting his bearings, Riku was surprised to see that Dean was standing over him, Riku’s Keyblade held loosely in his right fist. The two of them just looked at each other for a moment, both breathing hard after the skirmish with the Heartless. Huffing slightly, Dean extended his left hand to Riku, asking softly, “Hey, you okay Riku?”
A smile twisted across Riku’s face as he decided to accept Dean’s assistance. Grabbing the older man’s hand, Riku hauled himself to his feet as Way to Dawn disappeared from Dean’s grip. Dusting his jeans off a little, Riku said, “A little winded, but that’s to be expected after a scuffle like that. Thanks for the help, Dean. That would’ve gone a lot harder without you being here.”
“Thanks, but I think you’re bluffing on that one,” Dean laughed, and Riku saw the tension melt from his face a little. After a moment, the two of them started walking again.
“Yeah…” Riku said quietly, his voice trailing off along with the thought. For a while, neither one of them said anything, both of them considering what had happened with the Heartless Shuck. After a while, Riku ventured a question and asked softly, “You know, Sora and I have told you a lot of what’s going on, but there’s a story to be told with you and your bother too. You two keep skirting around it, but I’ve noticed things. What’s going on with you and Sam?”
Dean gave Riku complete radio silence, and the silver haired Keybearer thought that he’d found the “Way Too Far” button and there was no way the Hunter was going to answer him. They walked on for about ten minutes without another word said before Dean spoke in a whisper, “Sam’s been in a lot of trouble recently. He’s never cared for being a Hunter, but he’d always been a good kid before. But since the demons started coming out in full force, and they got to him, he’s begun to change. He swears he’s gotten cleaned up, but that kind of influence doesn’t leave you easy. He’s still my brother, and I’d do anything for him, but I just don’t know if I can…”
“Trust him?” Riku said at the same time that Dean finished talking. Dean turned to look at Riku, and Riku knew there was a whole gamut of emotions running across his face as his mouth twisted into an ironic smile. Man, he suddenly wished he hadn’t asked Dean about Sam; but at the same time, Riku knew Dean a whole lot better with just that little bit of info. The two of them had a lot in common.
Riku had a lot in common with Sam, too.
Cutting his eyes away from Dean’s face, Riku started walking again, following the ever growing sense of the Keyhole that he felt in his gut. At the same time, he was using the movement as an excuse not to look at Dean as Riku said in a low voice, “Man, I wonder where that sounds familiar from? I met this guy once, when I was little, and I had one wish. I wanted to be strong enough so I could protect what mattered most to me, and to keep those I cared for safe. It’s because of him that I can use the Keyblade, but I screwed things up, big time. I let my good intentions blind me to the fact that I’d fallen in with a bad crowd, and I used the strength I’d wanted so desperately to hurt instead of protect. Sora managed to knock my head out of my ass for me, but it’s haunted me ever since. I keep going back over my actions, trying to find where it all went wrong, to find the one thing I could do over to change everything. I wonder sometimes if my friends really do trust me, ‘cause I sure as hell don’t trust myself at times. Good intentions can screw you over, no matter what you do. Kind of makes it hard to try to be good, huh?”
Dean was looking at Riku, making him really uncomfortable. He was ridiculously happy when they finally reached the height of the Keyhole energy, a massive red oak in the center of the forest. Riku looked it up and down, trying to find where the lock for his key was, when Dean pointed higher up in the branches and said, “Right there, on the left side. Is that it?”
A faint glimmer pierced the dappled sunlight, and Riku could feel it in his heart, the energy flowing from the Keyhole and the energy of the world’s own heart just beyond it. Riku nodded his head, raising Way to Dawn into the air as he said, “Yeah, that’s it. Let’s just get Sam and Sora over here, right?”
Riku shot a burst of fire into the air, careful to make sure none of the spell caught any of the trees alight. Once that was done, all the two of them could do was wait for Sam and Sora to get there. Riku studied the Keyhole, letting the warmth emanating from it calm his nervousness after spilling all of that to Dean. Riku was a little surprised when he felt a hand drop onto his shoulder, and even more flustered when he realized that the pressure from the touch had caused him to jump slightly.
Dean laughed softly, the good natured laugh of an older brother as their younger sibling did something funny. Dean caught Riku’s eye, no mean feat considering the teen was doing his damndest not to look the Hunter in the eye; but Dean’s green eyes finally caught Riku’s blue ones as Dean said, “Like you said, sometimes it’s hard to be good. But I guess that’s part of being a brother, isn’t it? Rolling with the shit that life and your siblings throw at you and giving as good as you get.”
Riku nodded, a slight smile crawling across his face. “Yeah. And it’s not like I didn’t return the favor. Sora got into some serious trouble cause he’s too gullible, and I had to bale his ass out of it. What kind of thanks do you think I got from him?”
“Hey, it’s not my fault you got back too late for the party.”
Dean and Riku turned around, watching as Sora and Sam walked into the clearing. Sora had that big, goofy grin of his on his face, but Riku could see that the events of their Mark of Mastery were still playing around in Sora’s head too. Riku also noticed the set to Sam’s shoulders, and that the younger Winchester seemed to be slightly more at ease than he had been before they split up.
Maybe Riku and Dean hadn’t been the only ones to talk.
Riku arched a brow, giving Sora a look as he walked up closer to them. Riku waited just a moment longer before shooting back, “Right, and have to wear those stupid glasses that you had on? I think I’ll pass, thanks.”
“Aw, you’re just jealous. Is this the Keyhole?” Finishing up their banter while also getting to the matter at hand, Sora studied the oak that loomed over the four of them, craning his head back to look into its upper branches.
Riku followed Sora’s gaze, once again finding the small point of light that marked the entrance to the heart of the world. Gripping his Keyblade tight, Riku affirmed, “Yeah, this is it. So, are we gonna do this?”
Sora raised his own Keyblade in answer. Lifting his as well, Riku concentrated, shooting a beam of light from the end of the Keyblade at the same time that a similar shaft of light appeared at the tip of Sora’s blade. Both beams arched through the air, sliding effortlessly through the Keyhole. As the light faded, a soft yet audible click echoed down to them, like the turn of a door lock, signifying that the world’s heart was safe and secured from the Heartless.
Turning around to face the Winchesters, Sora raised his arm in salute to them and said, “Well, I guess this is goodbye.”
Sam cocked his head to the side, a little bit perplexed as he asked, “But, how are you guys going to get back to… wherever it is you’re going?”
Riku shrugged as he said cautiously, “Truth is, where here, but not really here. This is a dream for us, so all we really have to do is wake up, and we’ll be back in our world.”
Dean narrowed a close look at Riku as he asked, “And how can you do that?”
Sora was the one that answered this time, “Well, Riku’s been named a Master of the Keyblade, so he can do that kind of thing if he wants to. We’ve been trying to help some people out that are sleeping, cause we kinda need their help for this war we’re in the middle of, but we got dumped here somehow during one of the dives. I guess Riku probably sensed you guys needed some help here. It’s not like that’s the first time he’s done something like that.”
Dean looked over at Riku, and Riku knew that Dean had figured out what time Sora was referring to. Giving a quick nod to the silver haired boy, Dean said, “Keep your chin up, both of you. And don’t forget what we talked about, okay, Riku?”
“Kay.” Riku nodded in return to Dean, and then closed his eyes. All he had to do was will himself to, and…
