The only real explanation could be that he was traumatized by the events of KH1 and CoM and reverted back to childlike behavior to cope with it instead of saying something for the purpose of not being a downer of a keyblade master and "no sad faces".
In Sora's memories, he had never gone through Castle Oblivion, since Namine rearranged everything. So to him, CoM never happened.
So the last thing he remembers is saving all the worlds, the whole universe from Darkness.
Sora turned into a cocky kid who thinks he's great, he became a more "goofy" character than what he was in KH1. It was a change that for some was unexpected, but what if you had just saved the universe? You'd feel invincible too, no? That's how he felt like, since he beat Ansem SoD, and he was the largest threat he had ever known, Sora thought everything else would turn out to be a piece of cake.
He turned fearless, he has too much pride within him. Being as cocky, and less mature as he has been, I was surprised that something devastating hadn't happened that would make Sora believe it's his fault. I'm still personally waiting for something like this to possibly happen.
It would teach him a lesson, a well deserved lesson.
