I have a best guy friend who I have been friends with for four years. I don't imagine we would ever have sex or any sexual desires for one another.
It's completely normal to be just friends with a person.

Funny story (to make this not so spammy)! A friend of mine, who's a female-types, and I talk to each other a lot. But we also hold hands and we hug, just like I do with most of my friends. Apparently... everyone thought the gay guy and the straight Christian girl were going out x'D. It was so funny! Every so often one of us would go "This is why people think we're going out, isn't it? :C" xD.

And yes, I was out to the student body.

I just wanted to see what the opinions are on this forum.

Anyway to put my opinion in.

I think a straight women can easily be friends with a straight man without sex ever getting involved because we don't have a overabundance of testosterone that would make us want to. However, I don't think the same for a man. Men generally think about sex way more than women. Just like a few people have already said if he is attracted to her either physically or emotionally he will think about doing her. It's one thing is he thinks about it(which he will),but give him an opening(like being in a quiet room together and she is emotionally put out about something), and that thinking will change to trying to get romantically involved. Then bye bye friendship. I think it can work better if both parties are already in a relationship though.However, only a gay man and straight women can truly be platonic friends because he will not ever think about her in a romantic way. Just my two cents.

lulz, no. If the woman wants sex from this gay friend, she will still not get it. You are saying that the woman is in complete control over whether or not there will be sex in this relationship. Like the brutal, honest truth that you are sexist. That you are making rules people of a group comply with based on their gender is sexist, and you would do well to disbelieve in them.

You seem to forget that, like any other biological quantity, testosterone levels vary from individual to individual; and not with small standard deviations either. Figures of 95% percent of the male population range from 200 - 1,200 ng/dL (that's science units for you). And yet, men with normal testosterone levels complain of low sex drive, and men with 'low' testosterone levels lead very happy sex lives. And, most definitely, men with high testosterone levels are not humping everything in sight.

If you want to throw some bullshit science around, make sure the other person knows less about the subject than you.
