Supposed screenshots purport to show a September 1 multiplayer beta start date for Treyarch's upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops. What will the official event happening tonight reveal?
Leakerz.net has several screencaps showing Google ads and what seems to be a prematurely released front page for the official Black Ops site, both of which show the September 1st beta date. The Leakerz site doesn't credit any original sources, just that the screenshots were sent to them by readers.
Black Ops community guy Josh Olin refuted the images, saying that no information in advance of tonight's big multiplayer reveal is legit. Olin also noted that everyone and their mother will be liveblogging and tweeting the event starting at 6 PM Pacific time this evening, so we only have to hold our horses a little longer.
Check back later tonight and tomorrow for Dan's take on Black Ops multiplayer, which we'll get posted just as soon as we possibly can.
What do you think? Will Black Ops come out swinging with a beta and try to avoid the issues that plagued Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer, or will Treyarch hold their cards close until the game's November 9 release date?
