I've seen in the Kingdom Hearts 2 guidebook that you can eventually buy Orichalcum at the moogle shops. The only thing I can think of is that you get it after you collect over 1000 materials. Other than that, i don't know how, but if anyone does, this would really help me.

I'm not sure. I'd try that. But it would take way too long.
Just go to "Peak" in Pride Rock to get all the Lightning Shards you want from killing the Rapid Thrusters. That's how I maxed out the kills on Rapid Thrusters, got about 700 Lightning Shards, leveled up to 99, and got over 1,000 materials. But no, getting 1,000 materials does not let you buy Orichalcum at the shop.
Oh, I have way more than 1000 materials. I thought he meant to get 1000+ of EVERY item.

i have 1000 materials and i couldnt buy it
To buy orichalcums u need to get i think around 15-20 of them and give it to the moogle and it will say that u can now but Orichalcums. Thats how i was able to buy lightning chrystals.

no u cant i have more then 20 orichalcums and i still cant buy them at moogle shops
