Bleach: Final Soul
Chapter 1

The sky was black that night. The moon was full and gave more light to the world than on any other night. It was surprisingly still and the air was slightly chilly. One person walked the streets of the small town. They had a funny walk, almost as if a leg had been broken. Heavy breathing was what came from the person’s mouth. Hanging from the strange person’s chest was a chain. It seemed to be almost eating itself.

The person stopped walking and looked up at the moon. Why did I have to die?, the person thought to himself. Was there any reason to it?

What followed the man’s thought was a loud boom. Followed shortly by another. Then another. What was it? The man turned around still staring at the sky to see a monster standing behind him. Its body was all black with a huge hole in its chest. Its face was stark white with a huge smile, almost as if it were wearing a mask.

The monster opened its mouth to roar but the sound was choked. Suddenly, it fell in half to the floor. Its body was separated down the middle and fell in either direction. The two halves of its body then evaporated into the air.

Standing where the massive beast had just been was a man. His arm held a massive sword which he rested on his shoulder. His hair was bright orange and he had a big smile on his face. The man walked up to the spirit and kneeled in front of him to get to eye level after he had fallen to the ground.

“Are you alright?” asked the orange-haired man. The spirit nodded chokingly in response. The orange-haired man smiled. “Good. I’m going to help you move on to the next world, okay?” The spirit nodded again.

He raised his sword with blade pointing away from the spirit. He tapped the spirit’s forehead with the bottom of its hilt. A strange kanji appeared on the spirit’s head. He began to glow with a bright blue light. Then in a flash, the man had become a glowing blue butterfly.

The butterfly floated upwards and disappeared into the night sky.

The orange-haired man watched it fly away and vanish. He knew it would make it to where it was going. Standing up, he brushed the dirt off of his knees. He brought his sword around behind him and it locked in place on his back. His arms fell to hang at his sides. The orange-haired man walked silently back home down the empty city street.

The sky was a bright blue and the sun was shining its brilliance down on the Soul Society. In the center lay the Seiretei. The 13 Protection Squads went about their normal business. The Captains were currently in a meeting discussing who knows what.

Life went as usual for the Vice-Captains. They were awaiting the news from the meeting. Several of them were actually in the meeting to get the news directly because their squads no longer had captains.

The seated officers had nothing to do so they just hung out all over the place. Some even sat on the edge of Soukyoku Hill watching the Soul Society.

The Captains exited the meeting and left to their respective barracks with their Vice-Captains.

Byakuya Kuchiki, Captain of the 6th Squad, walked fast with his Vice-Captain, Renji Abarai, to their headquarters.

Upon arrival Byakuya took his seat and Renji sat across from him. They stared at each other for almost a minute, not saying a single word. Finally the Captain spoke.

“We have bad news Renji,” said Byakuya. “Very bad news.”
“Well what is it?” he asked in return.
“The Hollows are making a move,” informed Byakuya.
“What?!” replied Renji shocked. “Isn’t Aizen dead?”
“Yes he is,” he answered. “We all saw. We don’t know what they’re after but they have formed even more Arrancars and even added a few Espada to the ones we didn’t eliminate.”

They both sat in silence. Renji couldn’t believe what he was hearing. What were they going to do?

“And this time,” continued Byakuya. “We are leaving Kurosaki out of it. He is to know absolutely nothing and not get involved.”
“I understand Captain,” answered Renji in compliance. “But what are we going to do?”
“We are sending more Shinigami to the real world,” replied the Captain. “The Captain-Commander thinks they are going to move soon. We are to only send seated officers. No Captains or Vice-Captains until the Espada shows up.”

Renji nodded and left the room quickly. He knew exactly what he had to do. This job was for only a few select officers and he had a few in mind.

Were they really going to be attacked again after only a year of silence and peace. Sure there had been a few Hollows here and there, but what was going on?

And why the hell can’t Ichigo know anything?
