Decided to jump into a new game for a while after finishing my 2nd KH3 playthrough so I decided to get Black Myth: Wukong since it was a hot topic at the time.
And I have to say, it’s one of the coolest ARPGs I’ve seen in a long time. The game’s stunning visuals, intense and cinematic combat, and the rich and unique storytelling and animations have really captivated me. I read a simplified version of Journey to the West as a kid so I was somewhat fascinated to see how this game brings ancient Chinese mythology to life, akin to the God of War series with its Greek and Norse mythologies.
From the very first moments, I was struck by the game’s atmosphere—everything from the detailed environments to the character designs is meticulously crafted. The way the game integrates traditional Chinese elements with modern gameplay mechanics is something I’d love to discuss more in-depth, if anyone here has already tried the game for themselves. How do you guys feel about the artistic direction and the way the developers have interpreted the classic tale of SunGoku Wukong?
The combat system is another highlight for me. It’s challenging but incredibly satisfying when you get it right. The variety of abilities and transformations available to Wukong adds a really cool strategic layer to the fights.
I’m also curious about other people's thoughts on the narrative. The game seems to be sticking closely to the source material while also adding its own twists. Do y'all think the story is engaging, and how does it compare to other adaptations of Journey to the West adaptations y'all may have read?
