Birth by Sleep - Set Nine or Ten Years before Kingdom Hearts I??

Just a curious little question that has been in my mind for quite some time. Some sources say that BbS is set 10 years before Kingdom Hearts, yet others say that it's set 10 years before such. Which is the actual case?

The beginning of the game with Ventus on the Destiny Islands is set 14 years before Kingdom Hearts. Then we have some sort of time skip and the real game takes place ten years before Kingdom Hearts.

And still: We do not speak about Kingdom Hearts in the General Discussions forum, okay?
