I'm actually kind of proud of the first one. :<
On a related note, don't take pictures of bird when you only have a lens with a maximum zoom of 200mm. Assholes like to fly off exactly when you get the shot lined up.

Considering you couldn't get that much of a zoom, I quite like em. The second one comes across more effective to me, although the first one is rather nice.

Did you shoot these on automatic?

No, I think I actually shot these in shutter priority. I had just been taking pictures of the lighting trials for some show at the community theatre when I walked down the street and saw these birds so I probably just upped the shutter speed since I'm more likely to just up the shutter speed than change the dial. I'm not absolutely sure though.
