Yay it's a Bioshock and System Shock discussion thread
for all fans of Bioshock and the original System Shock (1&2)
For those that may not know, System Shock was a game created in 1994 and introduced a new kind of FPS to the world. In 1999 the sequel System Shock 2 was made and the game was such a success that it earned 8 game of the year awards.
Unfortunately, because of the hype of many other FPS's, the first 2 games didn't sell well. But people have still praised them as being some of the greatest FPS's ever made, System Shock 2 making no. 20 on most influential games of all time and no. 9 on gametrailers.com's 10 ten scariest games.
Then came Bioshock, the spiritual successor to the System Shock series, focusing itself on the main characteristics of System Shock and introducing the Plasmid system in place of the PSI system, it offered people to re experience the System Shock experience with new storyline, location and whatnot.
Winning some awards and nominated for several others, many have said that indeed the game lives up to it's title as a spiritual successor to the System Shock series.
A sequel for Bioshock has been confirmed and the original Bioshock has sparked interest in creating a System Shock 3. It has also been said that they want to make a movie out of Bioshock in a similar style to 300 using Green-screen techniques to recreate the city of Rapture.
But enough about that, it's a discussion thread, so feel free to discuss anything you have to say about these games here.
